The ending was okay, it's just I wanted Simon and Nia to have some more time together than they did. This sort of reminds me of the end of the Chrono Crusade manga, but I wasn't as sad about that ending as I was about this.

The fight was epic beyond all reason. I loved every minute of it, except for that scene where Nia flickers and you go "oh shit, I don't like where this is going."

What's with you and happy endings lol. It was a happy ending, the earth was saved, the people were happy, hell, even Simon was happy, he accepted Nia's disappearance, she disappeared as his wife, as the woman he loved, he was happy. It wasn't like with Kamina's death, that time, he wasn't happy. Everyone in this ending was happy, even Nia, she accepted her own death, and was just glad she got to marry the man she loved. Simon went on to live his life as who he really was. Not supreme commander Simon, but Simon the Digger.

Rossiu was able to keep his place, and his promise to Simon, to protect the Earth. Leeron was also content with his position. Viral and the gang became the protectors of the Earth, making them happy as well.

Everyone was happy in the end, thus, A GOOD END. A HAPPY ENDING.

I just saw the RAW and i feel i have to let my feelings out.

TTGL lives up to it's name. At the beginning, i lolled when i found out where Simon was looking. Then, when they all came out from those drills i thought: "WE ARE THOROUGHLY PISSED!". Tengen Toppa is freaking awesome and the fight was the best fight i have ever seen in my entire life. Both mechas where awesome and had awesome attacks. The Lazengann part was so cool with Genome doing a Kittan xD. When Nia flashed between the fight, i immediately thought crap. The Lagann impact and the part before was truly the epithome of GAR. Simon got spiral eyes, very cool, but he lost the Starlock Gargles, which i had grown fond of. The end of the battle was reminiscent of episode 15's end.

Now, onto the marriage part. First off, i want to explicitly show my disgust on why GAINAX could show Yoko's kisses properly but not Simon's and Nia's?! I was like so waiting for that! And then, she starts to disappear. I did not cry. Am i insensible? Perhaps. But i felt sad. Then Simons leaves out onto the horizon. Viral in a suit was badass and Simon looked much more like Kamina.

Epilogue. Rossiu looked like crap, Leeron was the same thing. Yoko got old, Viral real cool, Darry was hot, Gimmy was kinda gay. Simon kinda freaked me out with his only spiral eye. And how come Boota was still like that after all that time?! Then Gurren Lagann does that beautiful spiral thing and it ends.

Epic but sad and enraging ending is epic but sad and enraging.

I will make it happily ever after.

I'm with you. I'm taking another break from anime. It was three years ago that I stopped watching anime because all of them in that time seemed repetive for me. The only thing that I was doing is following my favorite manga.

Then last year I got hooked again after watching MoHS, Black Lagoon, etc, but TTGL left a very deep impact in me that I can't watch anymore anime right now. IT set the bar so high for me that I will go back to read BERSERK, NEGIMA, AIR GEAR & FMA.

Yeah, with all the posts that I read left me feeling sumber, but after watching him he seems so awesome. Like a true GAR character. Because that is in the recipe book for making anime. they won't deviate from it. Heroes rarely end happy in gainax shows. I might sound like a broken record, but i want everyone to realize this like I did, the sooner that you do the less you will feel hearthbroken when watching a Gainax show. There must always be a big sacrifice from the hero, either death, long term separation or the loss of a loved one.

Not trying to think too deep about the scene but anyone think the ring landing near Yoko has some sort of meaning to it? (Foreshadowing maybe?)

nah I don't see much meaning to it, just landed there so Yoko could be the one that throw it at him as she and Simon share the same kinship. they both lost the person they loved after they fianally got together without sealing the deal! So I don't see much meaning to it. What i see meaning is that after the 20 year time skip, simon seemed to be ready to come back from his 20 year pilgramage and oddly enough it seems he is going to do the same as Yoko, help the next crop of warriors. Simon need to save the universe in some way, he did promise to Nia.

well, Yoko like skimpy outfits and she doesn't like dresses. I have not yet seen her in a dress (the school suit is a different thing, she need to give the children a proper example). I think she realize it would have been improper to wear the stuff she likes so it either a dress or a suit.

Tenchi Muyo only had a few scenes where they fought at universal scales. That was the choussins clashing. Even they only destroyed parts of galaxies and solar systems. They weren't GAR enough to use galaxy shurikens :gar

That lasting feeling is once again in my heart...

Thats the part where you have to think about. She was originally a creation and was suppose to not have feelings. But because of Simon and his Spiral Power, it gave Nia real emotion to overcome was she was created for. Thats why the Anti Spiral wanted information from her to know who that was possible. So yeah you can look at it either way. I think the way that the story was intended was that Simon created Nia's human side because of his love and Spiral Power, so if it was intended like that, then yes she will be in the afterlife.

she lasted till the wedding day out of just determination. She should have poofed as soon as the antispirals were destroyed. Her WILL and SOUL kept her body together.


I realize now why Simon and Yoko end alone , it wouldn't make sense to get another partner her in earth if they hope to hook with their love ones in heaven, and they know that there is heaven for sure. so they will live their lifes to their fullest and do what they can to make a future for the next generations, and eventually join their loved one in heaven.

Man, it's been an awesome journey, but typically I expect the ending to be the cherry on top; something special or moving. The episode was unbelievable awesome, but epilogue did not deliver.
