Episode 1-15
Episode 17-27 (16 is a recap)
Which part of the series did you like more? Personally, I liked part one more than part two. All the deaths in part 2 really made things sad :/

Easily pre-timeskip. You had all the pre-timeskip characters like Kamina, Lord Genome, the Big Four etc. And the Dai-Gurren-dan with everyone there fighting the best fights of the series. Rossiu & Kinon were tolerable on-screen etc.

Yep Pre for me as well. Nothing wrong with where we are now but the fond memories of Kamina and his shenanigans give pretimeskip the leg up.

Not to mention guys like Kittan and Kidd owning everything :awesome

Story-wise, definitely post timeskip. The twist with Nia becoming the Messenger of the Anti-Spiral was just awesome. Plus now we're currently having a GARlactic battle in space, how cool is that? XD
For fun and GARness definitely pre timeskip though. Kamina was obviously the highlight of the series during that time. <3

I have to say, Episode 1-15 were the best. Doesn't mean I don't like the other episodes though.

I liked the storyline of Simon's fall from command in post-timeskip though. It gave the story an edge. That edge was Rossiu's face.

the gar and action in pre-time skip was awesome but post-time has also been awesome because we've had even more character development, plot twist and even more gar action.

^I agree, 1-15 rocked. I still like it right now but we don't see as much headbutting GAR action as we saw before. The show has taken a different direction since 15 as they tried to add drama and development to the show, which I like, but it still doesn't beat the crazy GARdomness that was the first 15 episodes.
What I miss most is the Ganmen on Ganmen fights. Right now, we're seeing too many lasers and not enough direct asskicking :(

true, its been a long time since we've seen ganmen vs ganmen. the mugen couldn't fight for shit and the anti-spirals are near impossible to beat but they're fighting method is basically the same as the mugens.

I totally agree with the above.

Yeah, the tone is totally different in Part 2. Its a lot deeper and it tries to frustrate you a lot more than part 1. It is only just recently getting back to normal.
I say 15 was the peak of the old fashioned GAR asskicking. Hopefully, 27 will have all the GAR that we seek :nod

Well the eps that Simon were fighting mugen were still gar "giga drill, maximum" anyone? Also Ep 22, 24-26 have also all been awesome and epic battles. I just think they're saving some sick hand to hand ganmen combat for the last episode. it'll probably be like the one Helix King and Simon had but 10 times better.

I dislike 24-25 for the sole reason so many awesome people died. I just can't get over that.

Yeah, but I have this disgust for death of minor characters such as Kidd etc. I totally adored him. Not to mention the others.

Must say, I've been enjoying the post-skip eps more than the pre-skip ones. The series as a whole has still rocked my world though.. :love

Now is Kidd the one with blue hair or was he the guy that looked like Lupin the 3rd? XD

He's Lupin :P
His Ganmen (Kidd Knuckle) was probably my favourite after Gurren Lagann and King Kittan.

Yeah, I liked Pre Timeskip it was more of a fun anime. Post time skip had a more in depth story and serious tone. Rissuo becoming a douche etc.
However, post has still been awesome. I mean, a mech that's the size of a city and then a mech that's the size of the moon? A mech piloting a mech that's piloting a mech? Punching through space time? Awesome.

I liked pre time skip more because I still had hope for a YokoXSimon ending. After the time skip, from episode 17-20 things seem more like Yoko was taken out, then they brought her back in 21 and gave us hope back, then in episode 22 they took the carpet out from under our feet.
I am glad that Gainax edited episode 6, I think my disappointment would have been much greater if I had watched that episode in its intended form.

I'm going against the crowd again (Why do I seem to do that in almost everything) and saying that I like post-time skip better. Honestly, Kamina's dead and buried, we have much better replacements.

Simon's attire is legendary post-time skip.
Aside from him, everyone else's isn't too good. :<
And aside from that, the whole thing is awesome.

It's hard for me to call. Pre-timeskip had my favourite character from the show, Kamina, the big boss Lord Genome (as an ambiguous villain), and it also had the great speeches. However, post-timeskip had very good revelations and character development, i.e. Viral siding with the Gurren Lagann and Rossiu Adai opposing Simon.
Overall, I'm inclined to say I preferred the pre-timeskip episodes.

I am going to have to say pre-timeskip. Post-skip has super epic moments like what Kittan has done but pre-skip has epic moments but comedy to boot. :)

Pre-time skip was much better IMO. Everything that made the show endearing and made the characters endearing vanished during the time-skip. I'm starting to wonder whether or not I will ever see a properly managed time-skip. Time-skips are show killers and should be kept to a minimum.
After the time-skip...Gurren Lagann no longer had a plot. Gainax just tried to make every explosion bigger than the previous one. Every surprise entrance better than the last. Yoko, our best source of h-doujin since Lunamaria was poorly handled for pretty much the whole series...I still had hope that she could turn things around after the time-skip. But she was as useless as ever. The idea of her babysitting and teaching children is ridiculous and complete garbage. Her character design became worse as well. Others have mentioned this, and I tend to agree. Pre-time skip Yoko was a lot more attractive!
The finals villains left a lot to be desired as well. There was never really a face to these enemies. (Nia was a reluctant villain for a couple of episodes, that's not enough IMO.) Viral as the final bad guy would have been much better. Viral was also poorly utilized after the skip. He was willing to throw on a lame outfit and hang out with Simon and his goof balls friends.
The ending of the show wasn't bad, but the episodes that proceeded it were far superior.

Pre-timeskip wins, but just barely. I just loved all of the lulz moments, with the "WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK I AM KICK" being the greatest of them all.
excluding ep 27, Pre skip wins.
