Who will die in the finale...

This is the thread that you've all been dreading, but we all know its going to happen sometime.

Viral and Yoko dying makes the most sense because since we've had so many deaths already, Gainax needs to kill of some major characters to pack a punch. However, I'm really against both of these deaths. Yoko shouldn't die because she has the children back home and it would be really sadistic of Gainax to do that after showing how close they became (although I would definitely not put it past Gainax). The only way I see this happening is if Simon and Nia survive and Yoko passes her wish on to them.

As for Viral, a small part of me wishes he would die because he is such an awesome GAR character, and I'm sure Gainax would deliver an equally GAR ending for his demise. However, I really like the idea of him fulfilling his role as a historian like Genome wanted him to and recording the accomplishments of Simon. Although the narrator's voice in the beginning sounds really different from Viral's voice, I still believe Viral could be that narrator, or at least write a book or something that the narrator is reading.

Finally, Simon and Nia... I am having serious doubts that these two will pull it through. Although there is a slight chance Nia may survive due to Simon's sacrifice, I'm pretty sure this is a "either both survive or neither does." I really liked one of the fake spoilers (I forgot who posted it) that showed Simon losing, then he pierced through the heaven, and all of the Spiral Warriors of the past came back. That would be a fitting end. I can definitely see it in my mind: All is lost, then Simon pierces the heaven and all the GAR characters return. They do battle and the anti-spiral gets his ass handed to him. However, in the process, Simon and Nia "die," but we see them holding hands and going to Valhalla along with all of his fallen comrades.

Well, these are my thoughts. Sorry its such a long post, so what do you think?

I'm not sure myself. If you look at the previous episode with the dreams and such...Viral is a good candidate. Everything just seems up in the air at the moment and it's extremely difficult to predict anything that GAINAX does.

IT will be Simon and Nia at the end alive for sure, hopefully Yoko makes it and Viral most likely will be the famous last episode sacrifice. Simon and Nia need to live so they can make heirs for the future franchise building that Gainax already hinted. They plan to make TTGL into something Similar to Gundam. Those are my hope, but I hope for Gainax to surprise me with something unexpected.

Really I just wanna see people squeal when Gainax sticks a finger in their eye. Not that I really think it'll happen, but I don't mind admitting that it'd be hiliarious if Gainax did pull a badend on the brigade.

I'm thinking that either no-one dies or everyone dies because, from the looks of it, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is being piloted by everyone at once. And when I say die that is to say that they may use Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann to halt a spiral nemesis or some such turning it into a God like figure or something so that the Dai-gurren-dan aren't dead per-say but sorta immortalized.
