Maul barely managed to beat Qui-Gon, and mostly due to Qui-Gon's age than superior skill. Hell, he actually got physically bitchslapped by a 60 year old man! Said old man forced Maul into a force field chamber and than onto a ledge. If Qui-Gon had been 15 years younger, Maul would have been backed into a corner and hacked to death. And he lost to Obi-Wan, in the stupidest possible way. Anakin tried what Obi-Wan did, and he lost 3 limbs and got incinerated. Maul got scissored looking like a dumbass.
And you put him against the Blademaster?

Face it, out of all 3 apprentices Sidious had, Maul was the shittiest.
You do understand that Qui-Gon Jinn was one of the most powerful Jedi Master's of the PT era and that Sidious specifically warned Maul of how powerful and dangerous he was as a Jedi Master right?
And you do understand that Ataru Stylists are free-ranged, open-enviroment acrobatic lovers right? And that being confined to close quarters in the Reactor Room was totally to the advantage of Maul?

Dude, Maul was forced into the force field chamber via fighting on a bridge wide enough for 2 people. In other words, the only time Qui-Gon had the advantage of open space was in the hangar bay. Maul was the one who used TK to open the door to the bridges and the bottomless pit, putting Qui-Gon at a disadvantage, and he was still forced to backpedal over and over again, even after Obi-Wan got kicked in the face. So really, even in the part where Qui-Gon was pwning him, Qui-Gon was still fighting in an unfavorable environment. In conclusion, Maul's skills were weaker compared to that of a powerful Jedi master. Kas'im mastered all forms of lightsaber combat.

Of course it's totally without reason to say...oh I dunno...maybe he planned it that way so Qui-Gon (an old geezer) would wear himself down trying to overwhelm him. In the end of that fight Maul was still fully capable of taking Obi-Wan and didn't show any fatigue, which you'd expect from someone who was heavily under pressure and defending as you tell it.
Maul was a Sith, he sought physical domination over his opponents - not spiritual. Dooku taunts and mocks to dominate your spirit and then bitchslaps you physically with his awesome sword skills whereas Maul just punches you, kicks you and dominates you in a more physical sense.
Kas'im wins this however despite the fact that Maul was probably more powerful in The Force. Kas'im was a Master of all 7 Forms of Lightsabre combat (VII being Juyo as Vaapad wasn't even created yet) and as well has having a double-bladed weapon he has the ability to use Jar'kai as well without having his weapon damaged.
In terms of skill I'm handing it to Kas'im.

Maul's mindset make that kind of tactic unlikely. It's not his style.
Not it isn't, stop making fallacies for Maul to compensate for Jinn. He took him out, tricked him and ended him once it became one on one.

Whilst undoubtedly cocky (christ, it's how he died) Maul isn't an idiot as shown by the fact he constantly kept Master and Apprentice seperated, focused on the more dangerous of the two and retreated in a controlled way. Not once was Maul 2Oh shit man!" and running - no - he was calmly moving away.
It's common knowledge that Narrow Spaces + Ataru = Fail and that Qui-Gon ended up in that predicament - to say Maul did that totally by accident is stupidity.
