Let's say that right before Revan left for the Unknown Regions, reports come in about strange fleets of biological starships conquering the Outer Rim. Assume that Yuuzhan Vong have the same level of prep-time as they did and agents have infiltrated into society and are sowing the seeds of discord. They start the same places as they did originally(Heleska IV, Dubrillion, etc).

What happens next?

The Vong win in a rape stomp. The Republic at that time was in Shambles and they no longer had a fleet capable of repeling a Vong invasion.

On top of that Jedi like Revan, would be useless against the Yuuzhan Vong and by the time it would have taken them to figure out how to beat them they Vong would have already won.

Well, at least the political leadership can't be as incompetent as Borsk Fey'la & co. I mean, nobody can be that stupid.

Aren't KOTOR era ships a lot weaker than the ones featured in the Prequel era? YV ships are on par with NJO vessels in terms of firepower. This is an epic curbstomp.

Vessel strenght is relative. The Republic tended to go through periods of times stretching out for centuries between major wars and usually the politicians would disarm or scale down the military for their own gains and force themselves to rebuild their military all over again.

In any case another thing to keep in mind here is that the Outer Rim worlds in the KOTOR time period is considered Midrim by the time time of the NJO. The Unknown Regions where a lot bigger in KoToR than they are 5000+ years later

The worlds that the Vong initially invaded wouldn't have even been known to exist to Republic at the time, so by the time they realized the threat the Vong would already have a strong Foot hold in the Galaxy.

Someone asked a question about Jedi. Well the Jedi 10 years prior to KoToR where not exactly going through a Golden Age that they where pre-clone wars. There was probably somewhere around 5,000 Jedi before the Sith wars with Exar Kun, that cut the Jedi's number in half. Then the Mandalorian wars carved out another half of the Jedi Order. All the Jedi who joined Revan (save the Exile) became his new sith forces and they fought and killed a lot of Jedi also. So by the time Knights of the Old Republic 1 ended (when this matchup is taking place) most of the Jedi order has been wipped out and destroyed and the majority of the remaining Jedi probably don't number above 100. And Nihlus soon after killed all of them.

Judging from that bombardment of Taris, yeah, they are.

I say the only 2 factors that would DELAY the outright annihilation of the republic would be Revan (having total comand of every factions military) plus the Star Forge's capacity to produce unlimited war droids and starships.

I think if the NJO had something like the Star Forge against the Yuuzhan Vong things would have gone a lot different.

The Jedi numbers are thinned (especially if Kreia's Sith are active), the Republic is still limping from the Mandalorian War and Jedi Civil War- maybe at the start of the Mandalorian War they could have stood, even at the beginning of the Jedi Civil War, if the Sith and Jedi stood together, but not after the Jedi Civil war. YV in a curbstomp.

Sith and Neo-Mandalorian Crusaders push them out. Star Forge > Worldships.
