Haha sucks to be you. Had my first PS2 for five years before giving it away and now have a PS3 and never has a problem, not even a freeze. Seems you have shitty luck, don't even go and try a 360 :P

i have launch day ps2 and its working fine
but with a 100 dollars thats almost enough for a new one somy advice get a new ps2 and some extended warranty

I love PS2 man im so mad i plan to sell my xbox360 to a friend for $300 plus a DS Lite :) So i am geting closer to a PS3 i hope the PS3 don't have this problem. Actually 360 has more RPGS announced at the moment. ES, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyessy and Far on while PS3 has White night story and FF 13 and verses coming.

PS3 is great to play PS2 games though, i play persona 3 over 35 hours and no freezes :amuse

LOL @ thread. Hey, it sucks to be in your position, but believe it or not, the PS3 is by far the most well built machine this gen. Maybe you should buy an XBOX or a Wii to make you feel better or something.

I am probably gonna place my 360 on Ebay for auction. I got very new 360 with all stuff that comes in original box i also got Ghost Recon, Just Cause, and DOA4 also got 2 controllers 1 charger 2 battery packs. Anyone know how much i should sell for?

Sell ghost, cause, and doa 4 on a separate thing, y'all get more. With 360 new and all that, say 450-500. Somewhere around there prob, could be lower. Dunno never sold 360 on DS lite.

I bought it of my moms friend who is a doctor he has the box and all bags for wires it would perfect looked brand new still does.. also has a 1 year warranty so i think people will bid on it. The warranty is very good.

Many of the PS2s had a faulty laser, for some reason the release consoles were pretty well made and lasted, but the ones that were manufactured later had the issue with the lens. But hey, at least when the 360s started having problems Microsoft extended everyone's warranty. I would hold onto the 360, I have both it and the PS3, and the PS3's game selection is looking pretty bleak overall. Sony needs to drop the PS2 enitrely or the system will fail.

PS2 is selling great, why would they stop selling it? And 360 only extended for 3 rings, not for disk errors and such.

I've got the same ps2 for 6 years and it still plays great. Also my 1st ps1 gave up not because of sony but cause my mom smashed it on the floor lol (it was working perfectly for like 4 years tho).

You're just unlucky or abused the console , sony is a great company :).

I also thought that but from what it seems its the same rate as 360. Also this is a weird fact.. during Summer most consoles don't get that many new games. Now when school is starting theres tons of releases of the best games.

and whats worse since the 360 design is flawed all consoles will eventually break good thing they extended warranty
