View Full Version : Shadow Skill feats/respect thread
Well i've been a fan of Shadow Skill for a long time and been wanting to do a thread for it so i'll try to give a rundown of the basic abilities of characters(backgrounds too). It'll mostly be from the Anime. It's kind of hard to tell what happens in the manga, though. It's got a strange style. Oh and be warned to those that actually wan to watch Shadow Skill, it contains some spoilers. I hope i did it justice :P
In the land of Kuruda, warriors with magical powers and incredible fighting skills battle for the ultimate prize: the title of Sevaar, the strongest warrior in the land. Elle Ragu, nicknamed Shadow Skill, is the newest Sevaar to emerge, but that doesn't make her life any easier. Teaching her "little brother," Gau, how to be a warrior, fending off assassins from other kingdoms and thwarting enemy invasions is hard enough, but her biggest challenge will be paying off her drinking debts
All warriors(vaars) from Kuruda are capable of using kuruda-style hyougi(open hand/skill) or Eigi(shadow skill) techniques. By saying the words "The power of my blow has no equal" "My Shadow skills are unmatched" and then using an Hyougi/Eigi technique amplifies it strength. It is defined as martial arts language and used many times through out the series, the highest level of martial arts language is a sevaar's martial arts language.
Kuruda ryu kosappo(Kuruda annihilation techniques)
Open Skill (Hyōgi) - Hand to hand combat techniques, relatively weak and easy to deal with.
* Harken - a punch that sends out a wave of ki/aura. Can be used from at least 10 meters away and leaves destruction in its wake depending on how it's used.
* The fray - ki extends like a sword from the users hand and is used to slice the opponent in half. A technique used only by scarface

Shadow Skill (Eigi) - The most powerful techniques that can be used by Kurudan warriors, consisting of kicks only.
* Sword (http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vlcsnap97765kf6.png)- A powerful kicking technique which envelopes the user's foot in a flame made out of ki/aura.
* Chainsaw - high speed kicking technique where both the feet revolve high speeds for higher attacking strength.
* Rapier (http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3235/vlcsnap133091uw1.png)- High speed kicking technique, usually used from mid air downwards. Packs more power than Sword.
* Boomerang - User grabs opponents neck via legs and spins rapidly to twist the opponents neck and or deliver a flurry of kicks. It's actual hard to tell because the spinning is quite fast.
* Blade - A fast roundhouse kick surrounded by aura.
* Tomahawk - technique where the feet both revolve at high speeds, to deliver a powerful blow.
* Shield - An energy shield created out of ki/aura.
Gates Genesis techniques(only sevaar class fighters can use this techniques)
* Cannon - A release of energy that completely disintegrates a person(if used with killing intent) or causes a massive explosion while not giving as serious wounds to the opponent.
* Kabuto - A technique that blocks mind reading.
* Kamui - Hyper acceleration technique. The user vanishes via the high speed technique and just about erases their presence from the enemy.
Once I have more time i'll update their feats
Elle Ragu(She's the girl in my avatar): She's one of the main protagonists of the show as well as holding the title of sevaar(59th) - the strongest warrior in all the lands. She's the youngest female warrior to ever achieve the title. She's known for immense strength and mastery of Shadow Skill.

Elle's strongest feats include the anime include, splitting in half an asteroid(a large piece of land broke off from a sky kingdom that's already in free fall and destroying a large column/gateway. She's also used Rapier and Sword multiple times throughout the show.

Technique used to destroy the rock:
Shadow Gates of Death technique(she basically goes full power, becomes enveloped in ki/aura) - she reaches full power in 3 seconds time. However, before she could say the name of the technique, she was attacked on her right arm(arm used to split the rock) so the actual name isn't known.

Kageyuu Cougar - A super sonic ki wave. Has a wide range and destructive ability.

Gau Ban: Other main protagonist of the show and one who the story is primarily focused on. Gau's village was raided and everyone was murdered by the bandits; he proceeds to massacres the bandits at the age of nine. After being taken in by Elle, he learns what it means to be a vaar and eventually becomes one of the strongest fighters throughout the series. His nickname is the "Black Howling" for the only thing that his enemies notice about him is the sound he leaves behind(because he's too fast to fight against) as well as defeating a 1,000 of Sol fan's soldiers. The soldiers were armed with crossbows, swords, shields, etc. He's capable of using the majority of kuruda style techniques save for a few of the genesis techniques(Kamui, kabuto, and more than likely the one Elle was about to call out). One of his best speed feats in the anime would be disappearing from the sight of several people, hiting targets within a 10 meter radius and reappearing. During the final moments of his fight against Len Fuma his speed increases at least two fold as he's able to dodge Len Fuma(who was practically his equal in speed beforehand) at point blank and unleash his final move Cannon to win the fight.

Cannon vs Darkness(Note: Darkness is an immortal being with regeneration abilities): - Gau attacks with killing intent and manages to completely erase darkness.

Aside from Cannon, he's capable of using Sword, Rapier, Harken, Blade, Chainsaw and Mace.
Vy Low(Scarface): The most mysterious character in the anime, Kuruda's most celebrated hero and it's strongest sevaar in kuruda's 2000 year history. It is revealed in the manga he is Gau Ban's biological brother(where as Elle is his adopted sister). He attained the title of sevaar at the age 16 by defeating the now king of Kuruda, 55th sevaar, Hawk Eyes, in a tournament. He is one of the most elite warriors in the entire series if not the strongest. However, in the anime he has no shown feats aside from one minor fight in the ova in which he showed a very high speed technique as well as strength far superior to Elle's.
The only person capable of harming Vy Low was his best friend Kai Shinks. Thanks to that famous injury, he is known as "Scarface" and all kurudan warriors put a blood mark resembling Vy Low's scar on their face before beginning a fight. Ironically enough Kai Shinks and he are best friends.
In this gif I made a few months ago, he effortlessly defeats the wolfen whom Elle was struggling against(almost on the verge of losing actually). I condensed the actual beating the big guy receives. His only used attack in the series is 'The Fray' a hyougi skill, however, as a former sevaar, he more than likely can use all the other techniques kurudan warriors are capable of.

Although he shows no other techniques besides "the fray" in the anime, since he's a sevaar, it's for certain he has the genesis techniques.

Diaz Ragu(Black Wing): Elle's older brother in law and the one whom was originally slated to become a sevaar. He's known as the greatest weapons maker in the Shadow Skill-verse as well as being one of the fiercest warriors who proved himself during the war. He is referred to as Black Wing because he uses a boomerang as his weapon. The boomerang can split to eight pieces, is made purely of steel(more than likely harder than any weapon in the Shadow Skill-verse) and has been shown to split through trees, rocks, etc. without much difficulty.
He only fought once in the show but managed to reveal some of the best techniques.

Shield
Shell - a final attack consisting of multiple layerd blows and used in combonation with Kamui.
During his last attack Diaz used Kamui + Shell and also attacked with Rapier from above.

Darkness: an immortal being from another universe who is equal to the highest class of sevaar. He attacks Gau Ban in episode 21 of the anime to teach him the fear of death(and how to overcome it0. However, he went too far and Gau almost died and was incapable of fighting. He is best friends with scarface. He uses a long sword
His known abilities:
Black Eye: An eye technique which allows him to follow supersonic movements.
Mind reading: On mutliple occasions he reads both Gau and Diaz's minds, he's able to detect what attack they'll use or what they're afraid of.
Regeneration: After Diaz pierced his body, he managed to regenerate the pierced part of his body.
Divine power meditation: When unable to sense Diaz's whereabouts(thanks to Diaz's superb speed and lack of presence) he manages to find out where Diaz will attack from using this technique. It's a technique especially useful against countering a sevaar's martial arts language.
Kenpuuha: he releases sword energy which leaves a moderate crater and can bring down large trees with ease.

Faurink Maya: Elle's long time best friend who follows Elle around throughout the majority of the series. She uses "seals" as a way of fighting and managed to fight on fairly even terms against Elle in one of the earlier episodes.

Iba Stol (Hawk Eyes) - Former 55th sevaar and current king of the show. In his prime he was one of the strongest warriors, and a shadow skill website states him as to being an expert on hyougi style techniques and being 87 years old. Throughout the anime he doesn't do much aside from making decisions and witnessing fights. In the manga he has a minor fight with one of his pupils.
Blocking attacks, dodging and then finally attacking himself. I know it's hard to tell but meh :x

"G" Kain Phalanx: The 58th sevarr, one who renamed himself after the 7th leter in the Latin alphabet, which means the strongest. He begins his attack on kuruda by attacking on White Lightning(a character who regularly fought/sparred with Gau) and defeating him easily without using any actual techniques. In both the anime and manga he attempts to take Hawk Eyes' life. However, since he used a scroll to come back to life -- he was previously murdered by scarface when attempting to fight Hawk Eyes -- he can only manage 7 hits, albeit all 7 of those hits are supersonic(at the very least) and quite powerful. His speed initially exceeds Gau, and by extension Elle's, but after deliving a majority of his blows it dwindles. In the anime he's shown to be strong and fast but the shockwaves indicating supersonic movement are missing.

You can always delete this post for the topic purpose but I have to say now I am officially one of your "FAN BOYS" :$ lol at least someone else beside me respect this great anime series. I really wish if you write about Kain Phalanx & Kai Shinks as well along with Sai-Oh who I put in the level of Kenshin's master or above.
I would like to add that no one in the entire universe of Shadow Skill were able to harm Scarface except Kai Shinks, the guy who put that famous scar on Vy Low's face and probably the only being who harmed him. Ironically they are best friends.
Shadow Skill manga's author is Megumu Okada, the author of the ongoing famous Saint Seiya Manga. Saint Seiya Episode G, in Shadow Skill's manga the author didn't have his current skill and creativity that he uses in Episode G but I can tell both are masterpiece work.
I plan on doing minor write ups on Len Fuma, Sai Oh and Kai Shinks. Maybe I'll mention G as well, heck, i'll just list all the Sevaars in order. I'll do it someother day though. I'll add what you said about scarface and if you have more to brig or contribute be my guest.

Well, he seems to be incorporeal and I heard also that he's from another dimension, but cosmic powers?
He did, though, used his power to vanish a city.
