Yeah, I know that too, that's why I also said "Even though some may not see these as badly drawn, they're still funny." :3 I do know that the animator who did Episode 133 (who has good style and techniques, I just can't remember his name ._. I know it begins with N...) has his own techniques for making fluid animation and that some things are added just to give a smoother effect of the episode - but pausing them doesn't do any harm xD

Alright, this is just stupid. Now these aren't even bad drawings anymore. They're fine. No, Shikamaru's forehead is not huge, it's normal. Lee's eyes are fine.

I think people are just trying to keep this thread alive.

And P-Nut is spot on, most of these aren't poorly drawn at all, they're necessary for a fluid animation. Freeze frame any show or movie while an actor is doing ANYTHING. OMG POORLY DRAWNZ WTFROFLCOPTER!!111!!!111

Episode 133 was very well ANIMATED.

But some of the drawings were REALLY badly drawn, like the one where all the Naruto clones fly at Sasuke, seriously, for like... 5 entire seconds they look like fish.

When Naruto punches Sasuke in the face REALLY hard and sends him on the water holding it in pain. When Naruto starts moving REALLY fast dodging Sasuke's little Katon Fireballs. When Naruto does his Super Clone Porpoise Attack on Sasuke. When Sasuke gets hit in the stomach REALLY hard and knocks him slightly in the air (his eyes turn into hollow circles, this one is REALLY bad).

Just the few I can think of off the top of my head. Oh yea and one more random one is when Oro coughs up the Sword of Kusanagi during his fight with Sarutobi. When it shows a bird's eye view from the sword hilt, he has no face literally.

poor episode 133.... so much unfair bashing.... The animation is made to be much more fluent, allowing for greater speed and stuff like that, and about Sasuke's face bein deformed, and his eyes being hollowed, it's just so you can get the feel of how strong Naruto's punch really is.
The one who made that episode, Norio Matsumoto, is considered a genious actually...

^And in my opinion he really is, the episodes he did where some of the best animated in all of Naruto. Some of the scenes might seem badly drawn, but with the animation it seems really dynamic. But still, the best animation in Naruto is still in the second movie, atleast in my opinion.

I mean, the art could be better sometimes (not so much though - I really like it infact, espesically the colours) but they should not go on expense of the animation, which I think is more important. I can stand bad art, but bad really bad animation (like some of the recent Bleach episodes) is no fun to watch.

And where are all the funny pictures in this thread - I remember in the beginning when I would laugh at every page. Are filler art getting better towards shippuden?

Umm... Not really. He drew it that way to make it seem more dynamic, and to exaggerate the action of the fight. Also, it's impossible to draw perfectly when your doing crazy action sequences like that. Those episodes have a much higher frame count than your average episode, so he actually had to draw a lot more, in the same amount of time as your average low-quality animation episode.

Just my opinion though.

Theres a difference between making little quirks to emphasize a feeling, and being ridiculous. I couldn't take half that fight serious because of the animations. I can buy the whole hollowed out eyes for effect thing, and I can buy Sasuke's face morphing for effect too; but many of those scenes are badly animated. Genius or not, I couldn't take that fight as serious as it was meant to be because of the animation AND the sound effects. When Sasuke Pereguine Dives Naruto on his head and it made that plane noise, I BURSTED out laughing.

Just my opinion though.

Well there's the problem. You're talking about it as if it's supposed to be seen frame by frame. It's drawn that way purposely knowing that it'll be seen in motion. Why bother drawing loads of detail when it's only meant to flash by? I think the parts you pointed out were well animated, personally. Yet you neglected to point out the poorly drawn scenes where it's supposed to be seen for a while (Naruto grabbing Sasuke's collar talking to him about "family", Naruto on the log smiling). THOSE are really bad and worth mentioning.

Ok in episode 147, the outlines are rough and jaggedy, but the ep 1 pictures are smooth rounded and curved.

also on the 147 one his forehead is too short and the top of the head is too flat. Also his face is more polygonic.

Also the eye shape. With the 147 picture with no forehead protector the eyes are thicker and wider and on the picture next to it his eyes are tiny and narrow. But on the ep 1 pictures the width of the eyes are in better proportion with the nose and mouth. I know they're slightly smaller on the ep 1 daytime picture but that's a perspective one where the view is from below.

You probably think i'm being too picky but from me the ep147 look isn't as good.

Only thing wrong is maybe his right eye is too close to the center (you can tell it looks slightly, ever so slightly off when you horizontally flip it)

But it's really minor. Looks good in animation terms.

Have you seen any of the fillers lately? Jeez, I bet someone like you would look for something wrong with everyshot. The point of Naruto is to enjoy it, not to search for the tiniest mistake. The others are just ugly. Not just ugly, but badly proportioned and poorly drawn (as in "I have no idea how to draw a human body"-poor) as well (as shown in the 1st picture where Naruto, Kakashi and Sakura are poorly drawn in pretty much every single way possible).

It doesn't have to be perfect, but at least it could be less-than-awful. They could at least try to make the characters resemble themselves (seriously, switch out Shikamaru's hairdo and who would ever have guessed that wasn't a random Ninja?)!

Not to mention that the fillers are notorious for being low budget! Drawn on a low budget by a low budget staff. Of course it was badly drawn! Part II, however, should at least try to get back to the better side of animation.

Dude, by your standards, EVERY EPISODE of Naruto is "poorly drawn", then. The anime rarely looks as good as those drawings, except on really important episodes, like the last Naruto vs. Sasuke episode, or Naruto vs. Neji. Seriously, show me specific examples of "well drawn" naruto scenes from the actual show. I really want you to. I think you forget just how bad Part 1 looked most of the time...
