Miramar police are following a trail of blood in hopes of capturing two would-be carjackers who picked the wrong victim -- an ATM customer packing a gun.
Bill Robertson, spokesman for the Miramar Police Department, explained what happened:
Shortly before dawn, a man was using the ATM at a Wachovia in the 600 block of Miramar Parkway when he noticed a brown vehicle circling the parking lot. As the customer got back into his late-model white pickup truck, two men exited the brown car and confronted him. They ordered him to get out of the vehicle and surrender the keys. The victim got out quickly.
One of the suspects shot at the robbery victim -- who drew his own gun and returned fire, injuring one of the would-be carjackers.
The robbers ran north from the bank and at some point were picked up by the brown vehicle, driven by a comrade.
During the commotion, the pickup truck continued, driverless, crashing into a building.
The ATM customer is licensed to carry a concealed firearm.
Helicopters and police K-9 units were brought in but were not immediately successful in tracking the suspects.
Emergency rooms were being monitored in case the man with the bullet wound should happen to show up.

I can't believe this happened at bank branch I visited last night :omg
I always go with my brother or friends when I'm withdrawing money from that ATM, but I guess it goes to show that it's dangerous regardless of how many people you go with...
Well, at least one of the carjackers was heavily wounded which means police will be checking out local hospitals.
