Sephiroth once said that he "became a traveller of the Lifestream and gained the Knowledge and Wisdom of the Ancients." He also said that Materia, the orbs that act as the source of every playable characters magic attacks, gained there power because they contained the knowledge and wisdom of the Ancients.
Therefore, Sephiroth should be able to use most FFVII magic attacks without the use of materia. Add to that his super strength, super speed, superior swordsmanship, genius-level intellect, implied shapeshifting powers, the fact that he can fly, and the fact that- in the end- he is far more physchotic than Krato's could ever hope to be, and Sephiroth takes this with ease.

This is'nt Advent Chidren. This is Final Fantasy VII. I don't think he was at full power in Advent.

Then what are you judging Krato's with? He's a gameplay character, too.

Eh, you see him gain his powers in cutscenes. The only thing I've seen from Seph in FF7 is shapeshifting, some superstrength, and that's about it. We cannot accurately gauge "full power" Seph because of RPG mechanics.

He can also fly, quite fast as well. Cloud also says he was the greatest swordsman in SOLDIER, the most elite fighting force on that world.
And his shapeshifting was into a freakish giant monster, with the other characters about the sie of his face. AND he could manipulate earth, fire, ice and lightining magic to various degrees, not to mention cure himself.

If you want something closer to Kratos' fighting style, try Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. He's in both, and is one of the toughest bosses in both titles. Certainly tougher than Kratos.
