View Full Version : Warhammer Fantasy Battles or Warhammer 40,000 - Your favorite?
Just so I don't confuse anyone, this is not a universe versus another in terms of power and might, but which one's actually your favoirte.
Personaly I think Warhammer Fantasy Battles is better, why? - because I collect the miniatures, and I prefere it over 40k minatures.
Warhammer's fantasy universe is the only fantasy universe I like, thoguh there are some sci-fi's better than it, but 40k's not among them.

I've actually never played either board game, but I've been reading the fluff novels for a couple years now. 40k is my favorite universe of the two because of the ridiculous weapons. Walking castles and stadium size artillery pieces that level mountains pwn everything.

Anything can be made better with the additional words: "...IN SPACE."
Space Marines - Superhuman warriors...IN SPACE.
Imperial Guard - Cannon fodder infantry...IN SPACE.
Tau - Communists...IN SPACE.
Eldar - Elves...IN SPACE.
Orks - Orcs...IN SPACE.
Necron - Zombies...IN SPACE.
I think you can see where I'm going.

I've always preferred fantasy myself (but it's just too darn hard to refute darklyre's logic).

I prefer the 40K version to be honest simply because it's more reasonable to assume 1 man could be awesomely powerful.
In Fantasty Warhammer there's people who are too obscenely powerful.

I like Warhammer.
The storys are much better, 40k sucks for story line.

40k in a curbstomp.
Seriously, Warhammer fantasy looks like fairies and panda's shitting rainbows compared to Warhmmer 40k.

Which do I play? Warhammer 40K. I'm just a much bigger fan of the tactics and a lot of the models coming out of that area (And if I ever become rich, out of Forge World as well... *Drools*).
Fluff-wise? Warhammer. Since it's just one world, everything is connected and fleshed out so much more. Plus, it's really a great version of the typical fantasy universe and has a ton of great stories out there.

I'm not sure I could agree more strongly. :drool
Especially about the need to become rich, unfortunately... :cry

The Novels by Goto are crap and hes probably the cheapest and worst author that GW could had ever hired.
I personally dislike him due to the crappy contradicting novels of DOW he wrote wich involve the Blood Ravens, my favorite SM chapter.
By the way I heard that a new Chaos Codex was coming this year.
and GW seems to planning on making an armie book for the armies of cathay and Nipon.

Yeah. In all honesty, I'm not sure how you can screw up with the Blood Ravens, especially when they have the awesome gimmick of being created from a combo of geneseeds (In this case, it's the Thousand Suns probably combined with Ultramarines or another very stable chapter like the Dark Angels)?

Isn't the current prevailing theory that the Blood Ravens are a loyalist faction of the Thousand Suns?

that would make sense, the Raven's were always one of my favourite chapters, they're battle cry is awesome

I've always liked the Night Lords CSM battlecry, myself:
"WE HAVE COME FOR YOU!"
That, or the Ork Kult of Speed's "DA RED WUNZ GO FASTA!"

Yeah, most likely they are a loyalist splinter from them.
However Goto's novels suck just as him, I mean the guy lives on a department in Japan with 3 cats and a Vending machine and I am not Joking.

LOL that one's a classic.
