from what i remember the beholders had some pretty damn nasty ass spells. Marlboro's are annoying as hell, but beatable. I say beholder takes it.

Malboros are simply powered-down Beholders. Bad breath is nasty, but Beholders have MUCH nastier status effects, like Petrification, Death, Anti-Magic, Disintegration, and a Slow effect that is much, much worse than FF's Slow spell.

well, malboro's petrification has a countdown but since it is combined with sleep/confusion, he rarely needs to hurry.
