View Full Version : Onimusha vs God Of War

Inspired by TNP's thread and reply in the Meta Battledome.
This is the three Onimusha's Samanosuke, Jubei and Soki taking on the entire God Of War universe. How far would each of them get? And what can possibly stop them?
No prep time.
Open field, may fight in the air.
Bloodlusted.

Any one of them would easily win this. All three have insulted and defeated nigh omnipotent beings and they make it look easy.
Onimusha in an absolute CURBSTOMP.

I know we both love the Onimusha series TNP. But don't forget GOW also has Gods. The Greek Gods from ancient times. And I don't really expect many replies, as few has played the awesome Onimusha.

^ Yeah but unless the Greek Gods are nigh omnipotent or above, GOW verse won't make it.

I never played the games because they seemed honestly like toned down versions of DMC and GoW meh

Onimusha came LONG BEFORE they even thought about creating DMC and GOW. Also, their power exceeds at least DMC by a lot.

Personaly, I prefer Prince of Persia and Onimusha over GOW and DMC.

I was refering to toned down in the gameplay department and not in the power. and yeah I gave em a try.

Fair enough, seems I misunderstood. :amuse It's a matter of taste I guess. I like the Onimusha style more to be honest.

God of war would win. Onimusha are strong but there are only three of them and they are against all the characters in God of war.

Onimusha has nigh-omnipotent beings!?111! AHAHAHAHAHAH!! You're gonna have to provide some serious proof of this, Pharaoh. If they show Chaos God or C'tan level strength, yeah it's a curbstomp in their favor, but feats are needed for proof of nigh-omnipotence.

Proof ? Easy.
Fortinbras, the Demon King, created the entire Onimusha multiverse and everything in it (Except for the Oni, who existed already). That makes him nigh-omnipotent at least. (Info from Onimusha 2)
Then, the Onimusha come and wipe the floor with him. So that makes them above his level.

What kind of logic is this ? What's the use of numbers if your opponent is strong enough to destroy all of them ?

Yet Fortinbras never, ever shows power on that level in cutscenes or gameplay. That create the multiverse act could be serious hyperbole or it drained his power seriously. If you want, I could just say the Gods in GoW are as strong as their mythological counterparts by saying Zeus is above a guy who beat a universal deity(Uranus, I think) which would make him a universe buster. Obviously I won't do that since I'm not that much of a wanker.
Anyway, I have to say that GoW gods are still damn strong. Zeus can take quite a beating from Kratos. Getting stabbed repeatedly by the Blade of Olympus, Chaos Blades, and getting pummelled by Kratos didn't kill the guy. Keep in mind that Kratos wrestles with Hydra and wins, lifts the sandal of the Colossus of Rhodes and throwing it helluva far, and can lift up massive structures.

Every ability shown in Onimusha does not massively exceed the abilitys shown in God of war. Nothing in Onimusha gave me any hint that Samonoske Soki, Jubei could take on all the God of war characters.
You act like Fortinbras was a powerful God yet he got killed by a sword in the end same as Ares.
Gaia created the earth and gave birth to the sky that should classify as nigh-omnipotent.

The Onimusha's take this battle because
A. They're freakin invincible
B. Kratos and the rest of them taking this battle is just luducrous.
Say Kratos went up against Fortinbras he still wouldn't be able to beat them because he still possesses mortal skills while Soki, Jubei, and Samanosuke possess the skills of a demon. Even if does fight them then he'd only prolong the inevitable like his beating with Zeus which ended in him living anyways.

Yeah, mortal skills that allow him to give Zeus a pounding he'll never forget, skills that allowed Kratos to murder the Fates and other major mythological baddies.

But he still didn't kill him while Soki killed both a hellspawn from the God of light and the God of light himself which I totally doubt who he could beat. If you look at the cutscenes it's like holding out one hand he could put anyone in their place. The same he could do to Kratos.

Could I see these cutscenes that show Fortinbras's strength? All I hear about is how uber powerful he is but no one seems to want to provide feats.

Hmm, so it seems Fortinbras has a human form and a slick looking one at that. But his TK should be no problem for Kratos since he can resist getting crushed by the Colossus of Rhodes unless he does a Star Wars style Force Crush. As for his flying demon form that fires tons of energy blasts, Kratos is going to need Pegasus for that.

He doesn't have to show anything for it to be true. If you played Onimusha 2, there is a secret document you can find in the game that talks about Fortinbras. And he did what he did.

There where documents in Onimusha 2 talking about Nobunaga being a better ruler then Fortinbras was, no where in the games can I recall Fortibras being able to kill people with a thought.
Zeus in Greek mythology turned a king and queen into the Balkan Mountain range, turned another guy into stone.
Kratos killed the sisters of fate and they control everyone's life thread and what they decide what you will accomplish in life.

Really now? Just like how the Gods don't have to show that their as strong as their mythological counterparts? Just like how Zeus doesn't have to show he's a universal powerhouse by beating Cronus, the guy who castrated Uranus, the creator of the universe? My point is feats are feats, and Fortinbras never shows this much strength. He's either retarded for not using said strength, or weakened from creating those universes.

I never said that Zeus is not as strong as his mythological counterpart. I fact I believe he is as strong myth Zeus.
But a character doesn't have to show something to be able to do it.
Crimson Dragoon

In certain situations, yes, a character has to show something to prove they're able to do it. If he's as powerful as you say, Fortinbras could have just made the universe implode around the Oni warriors. He'd survive of course since he has the power to make countless ones as you said before. But wait, he didn't. Surprise, surprise.
As for the Gods, I don't think they're as strong as their myth counterparts but still far above human. Refer to the beating Zeus took from Kratos and how Ares easily demolished an army without touching them.
The Nameless Pharaoh
04-26-2007, 05:21 PM
He couldn't do it to the Oni warriors because they had a power equal to his. Besides, ever heard of PIS.
As for the Greek Gods, I think it was for the sake of gameplay that they look weaker. They might be as strong as their myth counterparts for all we know.
Crimson Dragoon

I'm going to assume the Oni warriors fought Fortinbras with all of their power. If this is the case, how come I haven't seen an instance of planet busting power, let alone multiversal destruction? That much strength is something that isn't easily contained. PIS is not going to cut it BTW, this isn't CBR. Try to make at least some sort of sensible rationaliztion.

You can't blow planets up in a DBZ game, does that mean DBZ characters can't blow planets up ?
Don't use gameplay to analyze characters. And Fortinbras was never seen fighting in a cut scene so the best we can do is to read those documents about him that you can find through out the game.
Crimson Dragoon

I'm not using gameplay. I'm using what went on in the present storyline. So far, there has been no mention of planet shattering feats. Seriously, if they have as much power as you say, don't you think the planet would have gone kaboom sometime in the story?

1st battle with Fortinbras: Took place in the demon world, not on earth.
2nd battle: Also in another dimension.

Well, that clears some things up I suppose. Still, a dimension can contain only so much power before it bursts.
