Are the fillers worth it?

This is a question for those who have both read the manga and watched the anime.

I've only read the manga, and generally speaking, I prefer manga to anime, unless there's some cool action sequence that looks better animated.

According to OP's wiki entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_One_Piece_story_arcs), there are several arcs that are anime-only. As the subject says, are these fillers worth watching? Or are they not up to par with the original storyline?

Some are pretty good (G8) but some are crap (Goat island, Apis etc). If I were you I would watch them all since filler arcs are usually not that long.

The only filler I recommend watching it G8.
If you watch it and don't like it, then you know for sure to stay away from the rest.

G8 and Ocean's Dream are awesome arcs. Rainbow mist was alright, too.

Rainbow Jiz made me want to gouge my eyes out. Worst filler ever.
The Ocean's Dream one was OK.

Rainbow was ok not that great but certainly not the worst. Apis and goat is.

I'm not one of your people who's read and watched, I've only watched the anime. But going from that I can honestly say I didn't even know for sure which parts were filler and which parts were "canon", and thought it was all quality :)

Watch the G8 arc. It's quite amusing.

But I recommend you to stay on the canon stuff, though.

There were some funny parts during the first little bit of it. But once they get to the lost island, it just gets pointless.

Personally I liked every filler arc except for the Apis one.

And even that one had its moments.. So I recommend them =)

G8 was the best filler evar.

Apis, Goat Island, and Ocean's Dream sucked though. Especially Goat Island.

Yes please do watch the fillers, I can sure you that OP fillers are nothing like Naruto fillers :amuse

The extra Foxy arc was hilarious. G8 and Ocean's Dream (Zoro vs. Luffy!) were good. Everything was else was meh.

Still miles beyond Naruto fillers though.

well, personally i don't like one piece fillers at all. the filler arcs aren't as bad, but some of the single episode fillers are just... >_< but then, judging from the anime i've watched and the manga i've read (which is basically naruto, bleach and one piece), fillers just don't really suit me at all. i never got to the G8 filler arc though so i could be wrong.

I enjoyed most of the fillers. The only one which made me feel like I was being dragged on the ground was Apis, the arc was short but it felt like it took all day.

The OP filler is few and far between. There's a thread with them in the One Piece section of the site.

Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece are written by different people, but I believe they all appear in shounen jump.

dattebayo just does subbing for bleach and naruto
studio pierrot makes bleach and naruto anime, and one piece anime is made by toei.
