who would win in a fight?

i just want to do this because an annoying friend of mine keeps saying mario can actually beat link, but i say he doesnt even stand a chance, especially with all of link's equipment and fierce deity mask, but i want to know what u people think

Been awhile since I played either game but I think Link takes this, I don't remember Mario having any especially good combat moves.

Appearently: Star = Metal cap. (At least in Super Mario 64)

If we are going by everything they have, then Mario freezes Link in time, and destroys him with his Super Nova Attack. Or turns Link into a collectible card.

Im sorry, but mario wins. Link may be able to take down massive monsters (usually with an obvious weak point: its the EYE LINK, HIT THE EYE!!) but mario can use star/metal cap/tanooki suit to avoid links sword attacks. Plus, alot of powerups let him fly. Ahh, but link has arrows... i'll get back to you later.

Star mode won't help Mario. It doesn't last forever.
Anyway Link has Nayru's love to protect him from that. And that lasts until his mp runs out.

If that's the case then Mario uses a Star and grabs hold of Link. Then he flips them both into the 2D dimension and leaves Link until his magic runs out. Or he can just leave him there.
