Well first of all, no clue if this is the right place to look for help on this anyways, but I do consider storywriting a form of Art.
well the question i have been having on it is...
Ive been trying to write up my own fantasy storys, and i have problems making names for people, places, things, organizations/groups and such.
I have also been having problems writing the introduction, as in which way to get it started, as in either throwing the main characters into some action right from the get go, or build up to that slowly, reminiscent of the LotR series and the inheritance trilogy.
Any tips would be welcome, as well as links to name generators that are actually good, unlike most of the peice of shit ones i found.
Don't worry, i have the plot and character designs worked out already.

Personally when i write a story i start with a dramatic introduction, usually something which is happening. For example-
Time stood still, as the first Anangel mage slowly poured the metal which would later harden to form the five forbidden articles. These articles are to be carried by five of the best fighters in the world who will be granted immortality.
After the metal had hardened they were handed to the five ruler of the human world. Their powers unmatched, their knowledge unchallenged, and their influence only heard in fairly tales, they were now and forever be known as The Brotherhood of the Five Immortals.
(this is from my roleplay storyline from my site)
This will immediate get the attention.
Another thing i do sometimes is start in the middle of something, have flash backs to explain it, then continue it.
Hope my tips help. With name i am rubbish. Plus if you need any help with the story you can just Pm me and i can help you with any parts. (i like writing stories, and can make one in seconds smile-big) If you need a referenc eof my work please feel free to go to my site and check the story. smile-big

Well it may seem a little cliche to some, but I literally created an entire world to base this in. (well it was originally from a dungeons and dragons campaign i created.)
To sum up what its like, The main character and his best friend go down to the City to go to a big celebration for the signing of a treaty to end a war between all the kingdoms of the known world. Well when they get there, in the middle of a celebration, assasins come, and assasinate all the diplomats who have come to sign said treaty. The Main character and his friend feels powerless while it is going on but he wants to help stop the assasins and find out the truth to the whole mess.
Well there are 7 kingdoms that were supposed to show up, but one kingdoms diplomat did not, and after the assasinations everyones litterally blaming the kingdom who did not send thier diplomat. In all reality, the people behind the attacks is a cult who litterally worships chaos and wants to harness it to raise thier "god", give him a earthly body and so on and so forth. (The Cult needs to collect a few certain artifacts to complete this.)
well really thats all il give for now anyways. But ill say this, there are quite a few characters the main characters will journey with, and meet. There will be a betrayal or two also, maybe some other twists too. Im still more or less in the planing stages still.
well as for the main characters personality, Im gonna make him in his older teens (17 or 18 years old i guess) and he has the dream to litarally travel the world, and become the greatest explorer alive. And even though he will feel helpless during that attack, he is gonna use the opportunity to persue his dream.
As for his friend, same age, but he has more of a dark brooding attitude about a lot of stuff, and has had plenty of bad luck. Im thinking of making him the anti-hero (not necessarily the bad guy, but opposing personalities.)
