What do you think would have happened if Temari was in the Sand Village when Deidera was fighting Gaara? Furthermore, how do you think a fight between those two would have gone 1 on 1? I feel like Temari's summon would be a huge pain in the ass for Deidera.

Eh, I'm sure Deidara would have been on. If not, Sasori could have stepped in. The way Sasori planned thing, I bet he planned the attack during Temari's absent, which would kinda void the question.

True, but the fact that Sasori did plan on avoiding Temari acknowledges her as a legitimate threat, right? Her AOE power isn't as great as Deidera's, but it's still pretty intense. I don't even think Sasori and Deidera could have handled the Sand 3 on their own if they were all together (and by that I mean stalemate). But the question still remains, Temari vs Deidera? Would be an interesting fight

Temari and Gaara vs. Deidara would be an interesting fight since Deidara have to deal with two flying threats (well, Temari kinda glide more than fly but whatever). But I think if Deidara knew Temari would be there, he would have been more prepared. In any case, Sasori would have stepped in and the result would be the same. Except now you also have Temair out of commissioned.

Well what I was trying to say was that if Temari was there as well, she could probably hold Deidera at bay (extremely powerful cutting winds act as a good counter to flying clay bombs in my opinion) while Gaara and Kankuro (along with the rest of the village) could concentrate on Sasori. They'd probably be able to hold them off for a while, at least.

I don't think she stand a chance against Deidara. He would just blow the crap out of her fan and bye bye Temari. He's a pretty smart thinker himself.

If he can beat Gaara with a small amount of his weaponry and do it while restraining enough power to keep from killing him. Then she would not even matter.
Temari would be an insignificant worm to Deidara.

True, but I guess I can't really say anything else on it, since we haven't seen what she is capable of now. But to be honest, the only situation in which I can possibly see Deidera dying is at the hands of one of the Sand 3 later on (but his comic relief no jutsu will probably prevent his death).

If Temari had been there, it would have practically grounded Deidara due to the inability of his bird to fly in such high speed winds. (Temari doesn't need to fly, she just needs Gaara to hold her there). If Deidara had to stay on the ground, he would have been subject to attack by the entire desert around him thanks to Gaara and I think it would have gone in the favor of the Sand village (though as stated above, there would probably be a stalemate if Sasori had been there).

It makes you wonder what if those Sand ninjas on the ground had actually done something while the fight between Gaara and Deidara was going on. If Deidara was having a difficult time dodging Gaara's sand and had actually lost his arm because of his attack alone, think about how the battle could have ended if those Sand nins below actually helped. If Temari was there, and the other Sand nins helped, I doubt Deidara could have pulled off his brilliant plan. But if that had happened, most likely, Sasori would have jumped into the action and killed the Sand nins from below. That would even out the match and we'll still have the same outcome with Gaara being taken one way or the other by Akatsuki.

Deidara attacked when Temari was gone for a reason.
He knew that if Temari was there, the battle would be much harder with him being unable to fly, so he waited for the right time. If she was there, I don't think he would have completed the mission (but Gaara would be caught by some other Akatsuki, anyway).
We don't know her powers yet, but seeing Gaara's and Kankurou's huge improvements over the timeskip, I would think that she has improved greatly as well.
...i think this thread iz sorta joke ...temari z just temari
Deidara would have died if Temari was there, the wind would blow Dei's owl away.

i guess Kishi told u?
Temari would have gotten in Gaara's way. Deidara could throw multiple bombs at Temari. Temari can reflect some but then she has to draw the fan back again and wave again, by that time an explosive would have hit her from behind.
Although, she IS one of the few characters who has somewhat of a chance to attack and annoy Deidara.

let's remind ourselves that temari was capable of blowing away hundreds of projectile attacks thrown by tenten as a genin and capable of cutting down an entire forest as a between genin and chuunin stage. if she became more powerful than that as a jounin, don't you think her wind attacks would have a larger, wider range and more destructive power? deidara would be blown away before he even gets the chance to fuse his chakra with the explosive chalk. If not, she can just impair deidara's flying pattern long enough for gaara to snatch deidara.

That's true, because he his defense is in the air.
It'll be an interesting battle.

Temari would have been little more than a nuisance to Deidara. We don't know how high Temari's winds can go, so we can assume Deidara can out-fly them. Even if he gets grounded Temari doesn't have the skill to take him on.

You mean the filler fight vs. Ten Ten?
Clay bombs > Kunai. Deidara moves them at will. Temari will/can not defeat Deidara.

Hm, seeing as how they are both long-ranged combatants I see it as depending on the range and damage capacity of their attacts. I think Deidara would win through something subtle, several small bombs Temari would not notice traveling towards her because of bigger and showy threats he will send her way.

We are basing Temari's strength after her part 1 fights, and even then she has a chance of grounding Deidara. We have no idea how powerful her skills are now, but it will obviously be larger, stronger winds (that have a chance of blowing away the clay and bombs).
Since Deidara depends on aerial attacks, Temari is his number 1 weakness. As shown in the Temari vs. Tenten fight, she is able to blow away projectile attacks (ok, its filler, but in the manga, she wasn't even scratched, so its pretty much canon). Clay is about the same weight as her weapons, too.
