Well. If I have the time, I will scan it in and send it to you. Basically the plot is that an angel, Alexiel, having her soul banished from heaven after rebelling against it. Her body is encased in the crystal heavens, while her soul is reincarnated, cursed to suffer mental or physical torture in every lifetime, and thereafter die a violent death. In the present time, Alexiel is reincarnated as Setsuna, a teenage boy in highschool, who has a forbidden love with his sister, Sara. The story unfolds as Rosiel, Alexiel's twin brother, descended from heaven, trying to awaken Alexiel's soul. It turns out that Rosiel can't stand his sister's rejection for his love (He being such a narcissist and all), and if he could not get her, he would kill her. This is the brief description I could think up of at 11:30, with my exams tomorrow. Sorry.

This manga is classified under the generic "shoujo" section, and isn't suitable for those who have no tolerance for incest. It's a good manga, you should try it.

I personally haven't been able to find any scanlations since sakura-crisis.net took down their section on it once it got licensed, but if you can't find it anywhere, and really want to check it out, the English manga is decently-translated.
It's a great series, but as Crucifixation said, it deals heavily with incest. Not just that, though, but it also contains a lot of guyxguy and girlxgirl stuff. And as always with Kaori Yuki's works, the art is stunning.

odd series. very melodramatic, apocalyptic stuff. its like X in that, only more directly religious and more focused on incest. the art can be weak at points, but very good in others.

Thanks a lot! I've got the 1st volume already(got it from #ckmoney), I'm reading it tonight. I can't buy the manga - in case you haven't noticed I live in Portugal lol :P The only manga I've found here was in french...(so frustrating to finally find Naruto manga only to open it and find out it's in a language I really don't like :notrust lol) and I'm still getting used to get stuff from the net so...

Er...what's bishounen? (and shoujo, shounen, and...there should be a dictionary for this stuff :P )

Shoujo- Literally, "young girls". Used for teenagers.

I was googling and just found out this forum, because i am REALLY anxious to find some AS scanlations and i really don't know where they are. I mean, i know that they have in mIRC, but i don't know how to use it. :sad

Here in Brazil it's really hard to find it, i've found them, but i am missing the 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and the two last chapters of 16. Does anyone know how can i find them ? I would be SOOOO glad if you could help me. :laugh

The manga far exceeds the OVA in every possibly way. THe OVA could probably one count for two volumes or so, when the mang stretches far longer (20 volumes)

It is one of my favorite manga - the story is awesome and the characters are interesting and likeable.

As in where you can get it, you can always try #lurk on irc.irchighway.com (that is if you know how to use IRC). Although I think I know a site that offers direct download, I'll see if I can find it.

simply put, in my humble opinion, it is the best manga ever. the themes are phenomenal, the moral issues that are tackled are amazing, and the art is top notch. you can't find a better manga than angel sanctuary.

yes i really enjoy this anime and manga as it is a very morally questioning, great drawing and a nice story
i like the creator of this manga series as that author in particular always writes based on morals and questions and so on, also one manga done was a paradoy of many famous fairy tyles in which sleeping beauty was a slut and i really enjoyed it

You haven't finished it? You should! It gets so much more interesting in the later volumes. And I've read Neji. Another great from Kaori Yuki. There's also Blood Count, Ludwig Kakumei and some other miscellaneous oneshots. :wink

Its been about 3 years I think since i've read this. I remember really liking it alot, the only thing that bigged me was trying to remember all the names, man were there alot of them.

Yes my god the names. When I read AS for the first time, I was pretty confused for the first half, later on it gets easier.

But there really are dozens of characters and some even have multiple names they are called.

nothing compared to bleach, though. You gotta remember 13 captains, 13 vice captains, a dozen of humans, half a dozen of vaizards, a dozen of villain characters and several dozen of minor or weaker ones. Holy crap.

This thread reminds me that I should re-read the entire series as well, it has been years. o_O; I don't even remember what happens to the majority of the characters.

But yea, angel sanctuary is the shit. I first saw the three episodes and hoped they would have done more, but found out they didnt, so then I looked up for a reason to find the ending and found out there were 20 volumes, so I read em all, and I must say, I love the manga =D. By far the best manga I have read in terms of plot, art, and characters.

I really do wish they make an anime off this, rather than those 3 episodes

That and his best friends dead and is really a sword or something? I dunno I really just dont know... gah man that was his sister.

I was also thinking 'its your sister' but at the end, I kinda understood it and didn't think of it as ... something disgusting, as I did as I was reading it. But, now I'm reading another serie which the girl and guy are .. lovers, and find out later that they are brother and sister, but they still love each other so they make, love. don't know how it ends, I'm waiting for the next chapter.

So after seeing this thread crop up, I decided to download it seeing as how it seems to be held in high regard here. I've only read around the first 3 and a half volumes, but i've got to admit the storyline seems a little..well crap right at the start but it does seem to have a potentially good storyline. The other thing that I just have to mention is the art lol, i've got to be honest when I say i've never been more confused about any characters gender :laugh Then again I very rarely leave a series unfinished, so I guess i'll see whether I grow to like it in a few volumes time :)

Angel Sanctuary is awesome, but it takes a long time to get good (lmaybe 7 volumes or so). When the story gets going, though, it's pretty much must-read material. It's probably one of the most violent manga I've ever read (mind you, I don't read much seinen except for Berserk), and I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart. It's much brainier than your average shoujo manga, though that isn't saying much. In a nutshell, I've never read anything quite like it; the closest you could probably get is "CLAMP's X on crack, with a brain."

If incest isn't your thing, of course...stay far, far away. Also steer clear if you're completely disgusted or can't abide depictions of cannibalism, rape, decapitations, amputations, eye-gougings...(There's a long, long list.) There's also a fair amount of genderf***ing: cross-dressers, androgynes, gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters, characters who can change gender, and more slashy subtext than you can wave a sword at. Even worse for me was all the emotional trauma; Angel Sanctuary is compelling, but it's not what I would call light reading, because the plot is pretty crazy, there are armies of characters, and, in the later volumes, a lot of politics and mind games.
