Breton is my favorite class for those very reasons, but the only classes that are pretty much worthless in Oblivion are Imperial and Wood Elf. There is never a reason to be either of those races.. Wood Elf is obvious, but Imperial not so much, unless you realize that speech craft and mercantilism are rendered worthless in Oblivion (as is security [thanks to a certain item] and mysticism). But yeah, Breton is a pretty great, albeit fairly conservative, race. :amuse

You know this could apply to the ENTIRE series?
Most likely the Dark Elf.

This thread or what I said? Because most of what I said only applies to Oblivion.

This thread, though the special traits and such have been altered, they have relativly been the same.

That's true, but moreso than the special traits being changed is the skills being changed, although it stands true that wood elf has always been worthless. :laugh
Sadly, most people haven't played any more in the series than just Oblivion and perhaps Morrowind.

We need an general Oblivion thread...Really, could we get the mods to generalize the thread?
Anyway, my first character is a Wood Elf assassin, but next I'm going to make a Dark Elf or Breton. When/if I finish those characters I'll make an Orc or an Argonian. All the races are pretty awesome, but I find the Altmer pretty boring and weak.
EDIT: Hey! Wood elves are good archers and stealth-types (both of which happen to be traits of my in-game character)! >=( T_T

My first character was an imperial battle mage all the way back in Elder Scrolls II: DaggerFall

I think we need a general Elder Scrolls thread, hmm, I might make it.
:laugh Wood Elves are okay for stealth, but Khajit are better, and in oblivion marksman isn't quite as good as in other games (besides Dark Elves get a +5 in it anyway, which is 5 less, but better if you wanted to make it a major skill). Other than that, and their greater power being worthless, I guess they aren't a bad race, just the worst :wink
My first character was a breton, let me see, it might have been a custom class, but I think it was a Nightblade. (in Daggerfall)

yea that will be great slimscane to make a official eler scrolls thread :)
and im surprised i havent heard a high elf favorite yet. but then again breton are better then a high elf in almost every way. to fully expierence the game is to be the master of magic. my favorite magic school is conjuration. i just summon the a xilvia when im a high level and it just take cares of the rest. just bieng a barbarian will be a little to boring fore my taste.

Oblivion killed magic, end game lvls magic costs to much, they took out levitate, and broke alchemy.

I was never good with the magic users used them to much for melee so thats why i jsut use power hitters.
