There are only a few panels dedicated to Kakashi. Apparently one of the Katsuyu slugs found him, but it is uncertain whether he is still alive or not. Tsunade gets all worried and punches a hole in a wall, lolz. I'm gonna freakin' punch a hole in the wall if this story line doesn't start wrapping up soon! And also, it appears that Chouji's dad survived. If he's still alive and well, then damnit, Kakashi deserves to live too!

I just received a servey from one of the major universities in my area and they were asking about the massage profession in "an effort to improve the community" and whatnot as passed by "2006 state legislature"

I click on this survey hoping to find something maybe about the deplorable state of insurance fraud, under funding, medical response, self employment, benefits, treatment/practices, small business, education, statewide restrictions vs other states in an effort to regulate massage practitioning on a federal level vs a state/county level but NO.

All they asked me was how many years i practiced
where
did I go to school in state
when I was going to retire
whether I was latino
and then my ethnicity actually IS

Good GOD I was pissed/ashamed/dissapointed.
You know if someone out there is so disappointed that more latino people dont want to be massage practioners maybe they ought to start thinking about why! I mean maybe its the fact that the ONLY way you can be a massage practitioner in this state is if you are self employed. NO ONE will hire you as an employee not even a comission employee.
THEN you have to spend years building up clientele until you can make it on your own or open a biz and hire other people to do all the massaging. most people dont have the money to do that! the only ones who can AFFORD are people with alot of start up money, a good family support system, Or middle aged house wives who only have to worry about paying the groceries.
Ok so I am a female and I come from one of the poorest native american tribes out of South Dakota......so yea its not like im not a minority I still have to fight where I come from as we can tell by my mother in rehab and my sister sober for a year. These roots run deep and I STILL don't care about a question like that.

Probably a stupid question, but have you considered relocating? I have a friend who is massage therapist here in Portland. She's a single parent (from the start) and the way she made a go of it was by renting space from an established clinic. It's common practice here. It doesn't solve the self-employment problem, but it would reduce start-up expenses...:

And yea but to rent a room from an established clinic means bringing your own clientele or else being on the bottom of their ladder. Because in a clinic like that everyone who is senior to you gets booked first, therefore if there are five other therapists (established ones) then your first six months your looking at maybe one or two massages a day. thats a 50 pay out which is offset by rent, laundry service, purchasing sheets, oil, paraphernalia, promoting,and other lowly expenses as well. Then you might start taking insurance clients which takes a long time to do and at that point the pay out goes to 100 dollars but your facing the fact that you might not get payouts for months and they could decide not to pay you at all and then your faced trying to get the pay out from the client who thought they could get it for their measly 12 dollar co-pay

I did massage for four years and I was making good money at it, BUT it took me six months at least to break even working there. Sure I can do seated massage or in home massage on my days off but I have let my license lag because I haven't needed it this year.

Wow, Krickitat, that sounds horrible. I can relate to investing a huge amount of time into an education and then not really putting it to use. Very frustrating-- it would be nice to know up front what a job market is like, or the realities of becoming established in the field, but so often universities are so eager to sell their own product that they are less than forthright about this. I had that experience in grad school. My (previous) field depends on the labor of grad students and post docs, so schools accept far more students than there are jobs. The result is fierce, even unethical acts to get the jobs, lots of underpaid post doc gigs to get extra experience for these jobs, and 80 hour weeks once you do get the job. Its a win-win for the university-- lots of hard-working underpaid hopefuls and new hires. But for the individual, no time for the things that really matter. I'm glad I turned my back on it after graduating.

Portia, you're correct about the coming chapters. Things won't stay cozy for long. I think only five or so chapters are left, however.

Oh, I bought the new Naruto Rpg that plays out from Sandaime's death to the end of Sasuke and Naruto's fight. I'm very pleased with it. I also bought the new Prince of Persia game. Very, very pleased with it.

Its called Naruto -The Broken Bond for the Xbox 360.

You get to play every fight as every character that leads up to Sasuke and Naruto's fight. (like each kid: Kiba, Shika, chouji, Neji, and Naruto against each Sound 5 member and going with Jiraiya to meet Tsunade for the first time.) Its really nice for fans cause you get little side missions and extra dialogue. You can choose to play it with the original japanese voice-overs with subs. :D

My parents are both on Facebook, but I think they only joined because they're both affiliated with (teachers at) a college, and it helps them keep in touch with other professors... plus my dad has been able to renew contact with people who went to his old high school and such and catch up with them. My parents are not very tech-savvy, though... I mean, right now our family of four has two "family phones", as my sister and I are not permitted to have our own cell phones and our parents don't use them enough to claim them as their own.

I'm pretty sure I'm the oldest person posting here (I'm 42), but I have to say that I agree with everything you all have posted about older people using texting, facebook, etc. I've promised myself that I am not going to use anything technology-related that might embarrass my son. That's an impossibility, I realize, but I'm giving it my best. My 9-year-old son does have a cell phone, but I don't text him (or anyone)-- I figure it's not a technology that is intended for me, and to be honest, it's not a technology I'm terribly interested in. It's supposed to be for friends to contact friends, not parents to annoy their kids. Obviously, I'm not friends with my son, so why would I need to communicate with him every five minutes? The only more intrusive thing I could think of is that tracking device they sell so that you can monitor your child's every movement. Creepy, child-as-prisoner vibe.

As for using text to talk my friends, I honestly don't have that much to say, so why bother? (That probably sounds a little sad, but I'm pretty quiet.) I have a friend (a little older than me) who is constantly texting his latest love interest(s), and to be honest, it bugs the crap out of me.

Hello, you're at my house, being entertained by me-- do you really need to get laid that badly? If my son were doing this (not the getting laid part) I wouldn't feel so bad, as it's entirely appropriate for him to want to be elsewhere, but for a 45-year-old?

I feel the same way about facebook, myspace, etc. I can't imagine how embarrassing it would be for a kid's friends to pull up his parents' page. The horror-- almost as bad as walking in on them having sex, I think. I figure I'm embarrassing enough to him as it is (and will only become more so as he gets older), so I don't need to add any fuel to that fire.

As a teenager, I was always repulsed by the parent who tried to stay on top of the latest trends, use the latest language, etc. That's why I hesitated to set up an lj page, but I finally decided that as I'm using a pen name, my son should be pretty safe from ridicule.

On the other hand, my son has expressed some curiosity about my fics. He doesn't know my pen name, so for now we're okay. Probably need to up the security on my laptop, though.

He was the first and last guy I dated in highschool. (We went out in 9th grade, broke up, and went out again at right before graduation in 12th.) He was my first love, my first experience and the first guy to ever ask me to marry him.

Unfortunately, he was going off to join the Navy and I was going off to join the Airforce, but we decided to try to make it work anyway. It was like a fairy tale really, because his family became mine after some bad blood between me and my own. The morning I shipped out -without my parents even caring or saying goodbye- to basic training, him and a friend had left to meet me at the airport with a ring, but he was just minutes too late. (His sister later told me, because he wasn't home, when I got to use my one call home -I called them instead of my own family. His mother said, that he would be pissed because they finally got him out of the house after waiting a whole week inside for my call.)

Well, he asked me in the first letter I got from him which was right after I got there. I cried and that night the entire squad cried with me. It was pure torture, basic sucked ass and I had to wait six weeks to see him. Not only that, but the mail got messed up and he never got any of my letters, even though I kept getting his.

When I finally got sent home for leave before moving on to my next duty station (thousands of miles away) I stayed with him and his family instead of my own. He asked me to marry him then and gave me the ring. He only had 1 week before he was being shipped off to his Navy basic. His mom even gave me her car to drive him 7 hours to DC for his basic instead of sending him off on the bus just so I could be with him more. I didn't even have a license then!

In the end, I got stationed at ND and he got stationed at Washington DC. It lasted for 6 months before pictures, letters, and phone calls just weren't enough. We wished each other well and decided to call it an end. (I remember seeing Titanic for the first time with a girlfriend right after that and balling my friggen eyes out -I had to leave the movie theatre. I still don't want to watch that movie anymore.) He found me again on myspace years later and we still talk now through email and the phone. We'll always be friends. And he'll always be my greatest "what if." :cry

Wilham, better divorced than a life together full of misery. My parents have been together for almost fifty unhappy years. For a good chunk of time it was "for the kids." Right. It took me several years of therapy to get over that gift. Over time their relationship has evolved into some twisted form-- my mom pretty much despises my dad, but stays with him for reasons known only to her. My dad, for his part has the emotional capacity of an orange (as Silvershine would say), for everyone but my mom. He really loves her, but in the way a five year old loves his mom. (except with sex) Needy, other-excluding love.

Ok, so I had a lot of catching up to do here! My comp. was out of commission since Wednesday and I only just got it up and running again.

J-Pop, we are sorta in the same boat here. Long explanation--->My boyfriend and I broke it off this weekend too. He's been spending a lot of time with this girl we both know, and I've told him repeatedly that I don't like the way they hang out with eachother all the time, and how I am totally suspicious of them. Then, I go over his house Saturday night unannounced and I find the two of them there together. . . alone. And I didn't see anything concrete but, it doesn't take an idiot to understand what was going on. All the lights are off, there's a moving playing, she's on the couch while he answers the door looking very surprised and almost angry that I showed up.

It's all good though. To be 100% honest, I've been thinking about ending it for awhile now anyway. I'm just sorta mad that he got the chance to cheat on me before I could get out. I don't think I ever mentioned this, but we have a child together. Our daughter is almost 3 years old. It sucks because, as much as I don't want to see him, I have to because he needs to see his daughter. Eww, I don't even like thinking about having to deal with him.

(PB is right up there now with Misery and The Secret Window... some people scoff and say "Pu-SHA, that's not scary at all!" but I quiver underneath my covers... last night I was like "Think of a happy place!" and so I started imagining Kakashi. :D) A little too graphic for my tastes, but that's just me. I much prefer Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers. My sis and I are going to watch Paprika of his later... she's got all of the dubbed YouTube segments up and loaded, so hopefully I'll like that one more.

Reading this thread reminds me of the many different hardships everyone has to go through!! So it makes me feel a wee bit guilty about getting so annoyed that my iPod suddenly decided to start working after two months when I'm getting a new one tomorrow... it does not seem like so big a problem now! (Although I'm sure tomorrow morning it will still be a sense of frustration, because there's always something to worry about, big or small, it seems.)

Paprika and Millennium Actress are both in my top ten movies (along with Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke). If you get a chance to see them on a large screen, you should. They are visually stunning when shown at the proper size.

I saw the live action version of Death Note not that long ago. It was so unbelievably...bad. I really liked the manga, because of the way it was drawn, but also because Light changes gradually. But the movie had no character development at all. It was like a fifth grader (with a very large allowance) directed it.

Ok, I just came up with a new idea after watching the new Naruto episode. If Tsunade and Kakashi die -which I don't want them to but...-, there should be two Hokage like when the village was first formed. The smartest ninja and the strongest ninja: Shikamaru and Naruto. Oh yeah baby! woooo

i've always been a sucker for royai - there's just so many angsting possibilities. FMA is what really sucked me into anime & manga and there are some really good fics for em, too. mine don't count in there, but i absolutely love serrenanna and annpackrat's fics.

as for the shikamaru and naruto combo, it sounds like a great idea! one has the brains and the other has... um... enthusiasm?
just kidding, i like the way naruto's finally starting to grow up and is finally showing potential.

Well, the sherriff came by today with news that our landlord hasn't been paying the dues for our apartment building. They are behind by $2000+. And if they don't pay it by the end of december, they will have to be forced to foreclose the property and thus kick us all out. This sucks so bad. We called the people we rent from -its a 4 apartment building owned by a local couple. They said it was already in the process of being taken care of, but ...

I will so go kyuubi on their asses if I'm forced to be evicted and have to move in the damn snow! (Its -1 degrees outside.) This may also just take away our money for xmas now. :angry

On a brighter note: I'm so close to beating my game! :D I just have to follow and fight Sasuke now at the big water place with the statues.

Edit: I know what you mean Portia. If anyone finds a good one with Iruka/Saku let me know. I think that would be so cute. :laugh
