[B]Why Zoro/Robin?
In many ways their initial relationship is similar to the way the Zoro/Nami ship goes. In that Robin is a new person accepted into the crew, and Zoro is the only one who remains suspicious of her.
Now I only watched the raws for this, but they had a nice little conversation after she joined... just Zoro letting Robin know that he didn't trust her.. But I kinda liked the mood of the conversation...
But the real sweet Zoro/Robin scene occurs in Manga Volume 29, Chapter274.
Ener knocks Robin unconcious by hitting her with his lightning power, and Zoro catches her before she hits the ground. Then he turns to Ener, looking truly pissed off, and says, "She's a woman." Ener says "I could tell," and Zoro Rushes and attacks him.
I remember reading through and discovering this scene; I thought that his catching her was kind of uncharacteristic of Zoro, and a very sweet gesture...

Why I like it
Because, as a shipper, I'm a big fan of love/hate relationship. That's not the way I'm driving my life, thank you (I need the love ! gimme the love), but I find that kind of pairing attractive. Perhaps I'm too complicated for my own good, and should be satisfied with two people obviously in love with each other. Well, I'm not. Perhaps because love/hate relationship owns it all to lust, and power...and lust+power = sexy *slaps herself to stop the auto-analysis*
And basically, I love the two characters individually, and I think they make a beautiful couple. I think they're hot. Me likes pairing hot characters.
Why I think it 'works'
Alas ! I don't think this pairing will ever get close to canon, especially after the last chapters. But I like to think that, if they were given enough time to know each other better, it could work between them. Not as naturally as for SanjixNami, for exemple. But the way they interact, the claimed mistrusting, seems like a game, a challenge to me, a way to say "that don't impress me much" (but heh... we shippers know better). Besides, even Zoro and Robin can share something. They're both the silent type, not showing much of their emotions ; they both have goals they want to reach no matter the cost.
Why would Zoro go for Robin ?
Now that's a good question. Lol. If Zoro were to care about a woman, she'd probably be strong, knowing how to take care of herself. She should not try to change him, make him forget about his promise to Kuina, for example. I think Robin is that kind of woman. Now all Zoro has to do is open his eyes... This is where we fanwriters/fanartists can help X3

Who wouldn't ? More seriously, perhaps I'm totally mistaking, but I picture Robin as the kind of woman who likes to be challenged. She spent her life dealing with dangerous people, and she told to Luffy that she "liked men with power". And Blue Pheasant, the Marine officer, told that every group she was part of eventually exploded... I see her as a woman who doesn't like when things can be taken for granted. Which is why I can't picture her in a relationship with a completely dedicated man, such as Sanji. Zoro, on the other hand, would not explicitely show his concern.
My favorite pairing 'moment'
Since there's nothing canon in this, I won't choose the easy way, and the Skypiea-arc scene, but Robin's arrival on the Going Merry. The way Zoro's getting mad at his crewmates, and his expressions, make me drool.
