this topic is going to be split into 2 parts because the series in question has 2 different major forms of attack over its 90+ volume run




Hamon: It is basically a martial arts technique that allows the user to focus bodily energy into other kinds of energy via proper breathing (obviously they focus it into the energy of sunlight, which is effective against vampires)

its the energy supply used in parts 1 and 2 and has other benifits, becauses its energy its ridiculously powerful and can do a variety of things

from strengthening the body to healing(even from a broken neck), to altering matter to moving through it etc etc, I'll have to obtain more scans







Stands:

1st: what is a stand

see the character, good see the thing hovering over his shoulder? that is his stand. Stands are manisfestations of users spirit power (kinda like an Evolved Hamon), and can take literally every form, from humanoid to anything, some can be huge some can be small. Stands are called at will (some exceptions) and stay active as long as the user wants / until they stop breathing / heart stops beating. People without Stands cannot see the stands. which for use in this forums should be nulled or else theres no hope for anyone else. (kinda like nen baptism)


2nd: Abilities

This is why I like Stands so much, the writer is amazing at coming up with some of the most Bizarre Abilites EVER, for some examples

Grateful Dead (Prosciutto) A massive humanoid torso with no head, neck, or legs. Instead, it trails wires from its "waist", and its entire surface is covered with evil eyes. The eyes exude a vapor that rapidly accelerates living beings' aging. However, the aging is staved off by cold, meaning that women (who have a somewhat lower body temperature on average than men) age less rapidly, and that one can completely avoid the effect by holding ice. The aging process accelerates even further if Grateful Dead actually makes physical contact with a victim. Prosciutto can choose whether he is affected; if so, his touch has the same effect as Grateful Dead, and will reverse his own aging.


Metallica (Risotto Nero) Metallica appears in the form of hundreds of tiny bodies, each resembling a small metal strip with vestigial arms, one or two scars, and featureless faces. Metallica is normally bound to Nero's blood, from which it can project magnetic auras. These auras allow Nero to reshape blood into any form by manipulation of the iron in hemoglobin. More specifically, he can manifest such sharp and deadly objects as razor blades, nails, and scissors directly inside his foe (apparently from memory, since the razor blades come with brand label etchings), and manipulate his own blood to create iron stitchings for any wounds he receives. One of Metallica's most dangerous qualities is that even if its target isn't killed by being slashed and pierced by the created objects, the immense iron deficit created in the victim's blood will probably be fatal in and of itself.

Green Day (Cioccolatta) Green Day is a dark green humanoid that exudes spores from its head and hands. Once the spores latch onto a living thing, they will germinate if they ever experience lower altitude (e.g. if an infected arm is lowered), in a manner that is the reverse of certain insect-infecting fungi (which compel the host to fly as high as possible). Once this happens, they turn into a flesh-devouring mold that seems to be almost as rapid as Purple Haze's virus. Although Green Day must stay near Cioccolatta, the spores can be scattered over an area about the size of a village and still be able to kill. Cioccolatta can use the spores on himself in such a way that he is not eaten, but rather so that the spores can block off cut areas' blood flow and prevent death from blood loss.

Oasis (Secco) Oasis resembles a crudely-stitched leather bodysuit that Secco always wears. It allows Secco to turn any stone that he touches into mud (given enough time, he can turn living beings to mud as well). Once the mud is no longer touching him or Oasis, it instantly reverts back to stone. His usual routine is to swim through stone with Oasis's help, and pull down targets who have been infected wtih Green Day's spores (thus ensuring their germination). Alone, he likes to fill his mouth with mud created by Oasis, then spit it out, at which point the mud globules immediately become deadly rock projectiles. Oasis also seems to grant Secco superhuman accuracy, much like Star Platinum and The World.

Kraftwerk (Sale) Another humanoid Stand, with head armor that makes its mouth look like a skull's grin, and one spike on each side of its head. Kraftwerk has perfect control over kinetic vectors. It can force an object to stick to a particular surface, or be motionless with respect to something, whether it be a road, a moving truck, or Sale himself. It can also make moving objects suddenly stop (e.g. stopping a bullet before it penetrates Sale's skull), and impart kinetic force to stopped objects (this being why Sale will sometimes make an object match his velocity perfectly, so he'll have weapons of his own).

these are just 5 of the abilities they are all as varied and as powerful / possibly powerful as these



the thing that makes this manga hard to rank is that except for the Hamon users from part 1 and 2 the entire cast isn't that super when the actual users are concered, they die from things that alot of characters in this place would shrug off but the abilities of these stands make them formadable fighters.

Aside from what Taleran stated, from what I've read, things don't necessarily get progressively stronger once Part 3 starts, some Stands cause more trouble than others depending on the situation. And the threat isn't necessarily measured by physical powers. Seeing as how most of the Stands have some unique ability and aren't necessarily physical in attacks (Stands themselves are "psychic powers" in the first place I believe.)

and yeah the people after Part 4 aren't strong as other series view strength they are situationally strong, and some are quite invincible


one of the characters in Part 5 actually got written out of the series because his ability was too strong to give him any more fights.

I like how the mangaka actually specifies the strength feat of the character. It helps a whole lot in debates.

not really with the erratic and situational nature of the abilities, Fugo from Part 5 for example could take out most of the DBZ character if he was 1. in the shade 2. landed a punch.


If Vanilla Ice didn't suffer from idiot villain syndrome he could probably beat anyone short of reality warpers and so on.

Purple Haze: A humanoid with a violet-and-white diamond pattern skin and a glass-like gladiator's helmet. It also has three globes on each of its hands, each containing a powerful virus. The globes will break when it strikes something, or if its strike is not stopped properly (i.e. if the globe detaches from the stopped fist). Once this happens, the virus will spread and rapidly devour animal matter--a human body will be annihilated in about thirty seconds. However, the virus is constrained and slain by sunlight. Purple Haze is difficult for Fugo to control in even the best of situations, since it shares his hair-trigger temper (and mania for cleanliness; these two traits' conflation may explain the virus's nature).

Sticky Fingers () A humanoid garbed with spiked pieces of blue leather, and adorned with zippers on its chest, wrists, and ankles. Sticky Fingers can generate zippers on any surface, creating an opening to whatever lies on the other side. If the zipper is created on a solid object, such as a stone pillar, the object becomes hollow as long as the zipper exists.


this is a Stand that has so many varied uses, its a close range stand so it has near to the main abilities as other melee stands.

god damn it I hate and love this series in the section of the forum, on the one hand the abilities are on the level of Bizarre that they'd make for fun fights, on the same token the abilities make equal or close to equal fighs nigh impossible to make.....I'll find one eventually, the reason is although stands punch each other and users all the time, they rarely ever damage the evironment so we can't class them in that way.

I think I pin pointed the problem with accurately depicting just how strong this series is,

the characters both Heroes and villains are too smart, so they don't lash around like in other mangas destroying the environment so while they are doing crazy damage (which is shown from the stand stats given and going by The World punching Jotaro and he didn't die), and they are taking massive hits, its not shown because of how "in control of their stands the characters are.

as you can see it goes like this


1. The Pillar Men made the stone masks to turn people into Vapires so they could feed.
2. The Vampires Feed off the Humans
3. Humans feed off the animals and plants
4. Animals Feed off the plants
5. Humans / Animals die and go into the soil and along with the Sun feed the Plants.

6. Sun kills the Pillar Men and Vampires (otherwise immortal) in its natural form and using the Converted Energy of the Ripple.


and finally the Red Stone of Asia allows the Pillar Men to transcend this and become the 'perfect' being.

I must admit I always had troubles with this series because of the artstyle, but it looks batshit insane (in a good way) and very original. I don't understand why its characters aren't more used in battles here, seems like a rather popular, well known manga with a decent fanbase and the stands have huge potential.

Its as it appears, these blades have tiny blades along them that spin that makes them increasingly deadly / hard to block, they cut through walls like Butter and he can make them appear out of any part of his body, the spinning aspect gives them the appearence that they are shining that they're called the Blades of Light (they're actually made of Cars' reinforced skeleton and his ability to manipulate his body (see Satana Post).

It seems that the volumes where Pucci uses Made In Heaven are not translated yet, so i am not 100% sure on how his Stand work, can he really rewrite history to his own needs, or has it some major drawbacks??

that is his greatest ability, Joeseph Joestar doesn't need preptime, because he is a natural and ever growing combat genius to a level not seen in manga (trust me he'll leave you speechless)

If he had kept using it though, wouldn't he able to stop time in the order of years?

Dio mentions that one of the reasons he was going for the Joestar blood was because when John's body finally accepted his head fully he'd have the ability to stop time for ALOT longer than shown in part 3, so yeah its possible

Weather Report:
a versatile Stand that has control over weather. His stand is usually in a cloud humanoid shape. His stand can quickly formulate these vapors to stop or distort his enemies attacks, rivaling Star Platinum's speed in bullet catching. He can also use his Stand to bring otherwise unlikely elements of the weather to rain down on enemies. In such a case, he used poisonous frogs to protect Jolyne against Pucci. He can also instantly freeze liquids at the single touch. (the frogs were something different more on that)

Heavy Weather:
When Wes restores his memories, his stand regained several abilities previously lost to it. In addition to the abilities stated above, his stand could alter the atmosphere and hence the projection of light, creating various rainbows to fill a vicinity. If someone were to graze into the projected light, their bodies would morph into a snail due to subliminal messages, rendering them weak to salt and practically immobile. He can also electrocute anyone who comes in contact with his body. His stand can fill a room completely full with oxygen, paralyzing an opponent indefinitely. (that part with the snails isn't a joke)

holy crap a female....O.o, yes Jotaro's daughter and 1st female to be the 'Jojo', she is very very much unlike most other females typically shown in manga, she isn't shy or a bitch and her form isn't blown out of proportion, she fights till the end, will never give up and uses her fathers ORA to lay the punishment

Stone Free (ストーン・フリー sutōn furī) gives Jolyne the power to unravel herself. Ironically, whenever she moves away from the stand it unravels. At first she is only able to send a string from her fingertip and felt intense pain if it snapped. It also featured the ability to listen to faraway conversations, similar to a can tied to string. Later, she can completely unravel her entire body into a string and quickly reassemble herself. She can also "cut" her string form and make it independent from her body. When the series' main healer, F.F., dies, Jolyne develops the ability to stitch her and her comrades' wounds together. Like Jotaro, Jolyne also cries, "Ora, Ora!" while pummeling with her fists. Her stand, though perhaps not the strongest, is praised for being both extremely quick and flexible.

Killer Queen is a humanoid Stand with fox-skull emblems on its shoulders, waist, and knees, and a vaguely cat-like head. Also, the space behind its stomach is hollow, letting it contain small items or creatures there. Killer Queen's abilities mostly involve explosions. Its primary bombs are actually booby traps--it touches a cohesive object (doorknobs, coins, even living bodies) and charges it. When someone touches it, the energy will be conducted into it, creating an internal explosion. He also has a secondary bomb called Sheer Heart Attack, normally contained within Killer Queen's left hand. It is a completely autonomous bomb with unlimited range, looking like a tank-treaded ball with a fox-skull face. Its method is to seek out whatever the warmest thing in the vicinity is, then induce an explosion there. Also, Sheer Heart Attack is totally indestructible.
Late in the story, Kira gets pierced by the stand arrow again and this grants Killer Queen a tertiary bomb, called Another One Bites the Dust. This bomb is actually a distinct, miniaturized form of Killer Queen, If someone finds out about Kira’s true identity, the tertiary bomb will enter their field of vision, get into their eye that way, and induce an explosion.

White Album: In its most basic form, it appears as a simple sheath of ice on Ghiaccio's body, but can "upgrade" into a suit of armor with ice skates on its feet. White Album can lower the surrounding area's temperature to almost absolute zero, although Ghiaccio probably doesn't have to go so far in most cases--it's enough to just freeze and imprison his foes. Also, White Album is impenetrable--attacks (e.g. bullets) just bounce off. The only weak point is a tiny air vent at the back of White Album's neck. No matter how cold White Album makes the surrounding area, the interior is always comfortably warm (and, therefore, so is Ghiaccio).

The World, very similar to Jotaro's Star Platinum, this stand has phenomenal strength, senses and stamina - but faster and more accurate.[10] It can also stop time (for a longer duration as well).[10] He also has at least a measure of Joseph's psychic abilities[9] (specifically, the ability to create a vision on a photograph). A possible explanation for the fact that The World has psychic powers that are only used once is that Hirohiko Araki (The creator of the manga) implied for it to have the power of all of the stands.

There is a pervasive theory amongst JoJo fans that the World is not actually Dio's Stand, but the Stand Jonathan Joestar would have developed had he lived, and that The World actually has the powers of all the Stands possessed by a member of the Joestar bloodline. This would explain why it possesses Star Platinum's ability to freeze time and Hermit Purple's psychic ability. If this theory were proven correct, Dio, had he continued to exist, would have become nigh unstoppable as time passed and new members of the Joestar bloodline were born. According to this theory, if Dio existed at this moment in time, he would also have the abilities of Crazy Diamond(Josuke Higashikata), Gold Experience(Giorno Giovanna) and Stone Free(Jolyne Kujo).

It's implied in Part 6 that he wanted to use his stand to create a perfect world for himself and a handful of subordinates. He enlisted Enrico Pucci as his living "conscience", in case he would go crazy and be "off track".



The best part about The World is the length's Araki went to both conceal and leave open what the power was, and reading through 27 & 28 before knowing what the stand does was awesome

One question, Taleran.

When the author created the stats, how does he define power? The reason I ask is that alot of the stands have more abilities than h2h so what does he mean by power?

Personality: He has a very tough exterior, and is even rather rough and delinquent, but he also is very dedicated, intense, and loyal. He is intelligent, but usually lets his (or Star Platinum's) fists do the talking with the enemy, even though he often has to rely on his wits to deal with stand users' attacks. Jotaro has a perpetual cooler-than-thou, slightly disinterested attitude, although he loves his mother and respects his grandfather. It is not that he is unaware of his own love and/or respect--rather, he thinks anyone can tell his emotions just by looking at him, and probably thinks further effort in portraying how he feels to be a waste of time. In the manga, he's constantly chased by adoring girls, whom he ignores or tries to drive away. He is the main target of Dio, who realizes that Jotaro is his greatest threat.



Stand: Star Platinum
A silver-skinned humanoid wearing Aztec garb (Ironic, given that the Stone Mask that empowered Dio came from within Aztec lands). One of the strongest stands in the Jojo universe. Star Platinum possesses super human senses, strength, stamina, accuracy and speed. At his peak, Jotaro can stop time for as long as 5 seconds with his stand. Like other physically powerful stands, Star Platinum suffers from a narrow range of activity. It can only be active within a 2-3 metre radius from Jotaro.

Polnareff is probably one of the most popular characters in Part 3(after Jotaro)
He is the most lighthearted in the group and can be seen as the comic relief character, but that is far from the truth.
Polnareff always set others higher than himself and he is usally the first out on the battlefield.
He brings much humour to an otherwise cold group, his best friends in the group are probably Abdul and Iggy.

Stand:
Silver Chariot is Polnareff's original Stand. It is a very powerful, battle-dedicated Stand: all its powers are destructive in nature or assist him in battle. In appearance, it looks like a thin, robotic humanoid clad in medieval armor, armed with a rapier. Silver Chariot is an incredibly agile Stand, able to attack enemies with barrages of sword slashes and thrusts before the opponent can react. It can also use this agility, along with its sword, to defend and deflect attacks aimed at it (he has been able to slash fire attacks from Abdul away from him without any harm). If necessary, Polnareff can also shed Silver Chariot's armor away, exposing its robotic form. In this form, Silver Chariot is even faster, to the point it can actually move fast enough to create doubles of itself. These doubles are not illusory: the Stand is moving at faster-than-the-eye-can-see speed between different positions. As such, were all the doubles to attack at once, it'd mean that the Stand is attacking from all those positions simultaneously, giving it incredible destructive power..

Silver Chariot Reqiuem:

Silver Chariot Requiem is the Stand that Polnareff develops when Silver Chariot is stabbed with the Stand Arrow. Polnareff died shortly after creating Requiem, so the Stand survived his death but became uncontrollable. Requiem possessed the power to control the spirits of people. Its primary method of attack was to switch the spirits of people between bodies, usually after inducing a deep sleep. It also possessed the ability to turn Stands against their users, but only when its objective was directly threatened. It also has the ability to accelerate evolution around it, affecting anything in its range.

SCR is hard to define, it has zero strenght and only walks around aimlessy, its only objective is protecting the stand arrow. Its not much use posting the scans since the explanation over is basicly all you need to know about it. But for OB purposes I will post up the scans on how to defeat it:
