Upon graduation to genin
Early Chuunin exam(First exam)
Late Chuunin exam(Around the prelims)
Post Invasion(Around when Shino fought Kankuro)
Rescue Arc(When Kiba fought Sakon)
Postskip


Factors to consider:

Kurenai is newer to being jounin than Kakashi
Kurenai is a genjutsu specialist
While they lack the teamwork of InoShikaCho, they have good tracking skills
They got their scrolls faster than even Gaara's team

That said, I think that they might not have understood the purpose of the test. Kiba at any stage is quite impulsive and overconfident, and could leave the battle as just Hinata and Shino against Kurenai.

However, Hinata's Byakugan helps against the genjutsu, and Kurenai is going to have difficulty getting around Shino's bugs. This being the anime, though, his bugs should be immune to genjutsu which makes it harder for her.

However, she isn't a jounin, not even a new one, for nothing. They at least get it post-skip, but before then it's hard to say. I'll wait for more responses.

That said, I think that they might not have understood the purpose of the test. Kiba at any stage is quite impulsive and overconfident, and could leave the battle as just Hinata and Shino against Kurenai.

However, Hinata's Byakugan helps against the genjutsu, and Kurenai is going to have difficulty getting around Shino's bugs. This being the anime, though, his bugs should be immune to genjutsu which makes it harder for her.

Well #3 had Hinata with confidence. But for the most part, I listed it for completeness purposes since Team 7 grew a lot over that time, it's reasonable to expect Team Kiba to have had some measurable growth, albeit less.

1/2. Kurenai is seriously overrated people are forgetting that she is a reletively new jounin. People were comparing her to Asuma.

Kurenai's genjutsu doessn't work on Shino, and I think she's too frail to take the combined outer body attacks of gatsuga, the internal attacks of gentle fist from Hinata, and getting her chakra sucked out by Shino. Kurenai'd put up a good fight but I think the genin could take her down pretty early on.

no way team 8 could have gotten the bells from Kurenai, she do some kinda illusion crap, and screw with their minds. and i know that Shino's bugs are able to reflect genjutsu, but still she way too skill for them, so maybe around the chunin selection they might, just might be able to do it.

She knows her students well enough, She could easily outdo Kiba and Hinata, it's Shino that her focus abilities may have problems with, but while she is a specialist in Genjutsu, it doesn't mean thats her only ability.

Which happen to be his main mode of attack.

We've seen him avoid the type of genjutsu she used(although they were used by the Kurama clan)

I'm surprised theres been no clear consensus on when they'd win.

But I believe Shino would've gotten it earlier than the rest of his teammates, since he said that his bugs are not affected by genjutsu. So maybe he could send a few of his bugs to sneak up on Kurenai and get the bells?

IMo the same genjutsu she used against Kisame could hold them down no problem...She has 4 in taijutsu and speed so she's good in that area...Hinata will never be a problem for her...Kiba....one genjutsu on Akamaru and he can't do shit....She might have problem with shino's bugs and that's only if the bugs can find her..shino himself won't be a problem

Unfortunatelly, we haven't seen much of Kurenai (not before the fillers at least), but I'd those three by the time the SRA was happening could have a chance of catching the bells sucesfully.
