Yamato wins this easily. Sai is smart and has strange abilities with his drawings but he is no match for Yamato. Yamato is an ANBU veteran and is the decendant of the 1st Hokage. Yamato should win this fairly easily

sai is the ninja of ninjas. what i mean is that he is an assasin who goes after assassins. he should be able to take on yamato on the basic level and i would guess he would have jutsu specifically for the purpose of killing people. they where both anbu but sai was root which is like anbu on crack

that being said yamato may still take this because of experience and freaky wood attacks.

You people seem to forget that Sai is the only one we've seen aside from the Sannin who got the bells by relying on their skill not cheap tricks like spoiling the ending of a book or the test not being about the bells in the 1st place. This means Sai is capable of seeing through Yamato's ploys, keeping up with him and may potentially be capable of outsmarting him.

Yamato has an impressive record as an ANBU but Danzo seems to hold Sai in high regard. So I'd say they both seem to be the cream of their respective organisations.

I think Sai's weakness is that his constructs don't seem particularly durable. They haven't been destroyed by insignificant things like punches and kicks or shuriken and Kunai but they have been destroyed by Kyuubi's aura, Chouji's multisize technique and Shikamaru's shadow sewing. Yamato's constructs though have only been broken by Sasuke, so far as I recall, by some unknown means though I suspect it was brute force. If his Sassori outfit was made of wood then you can add Kabuto's chakra scalpel but I am led to believe it was a henge.
