I like how these two fight. Alot. :3 I haven't seen much of either of them.

Its pre time skip, if that makes a difference, I don't know.
One fight could be Gaara without his monster form.
Other fight could be him fully transformed. :x

Actually his fighting style maybe the only thing to date beside chidori that can pierce through Gaara's sand shield if they sand is mix with chakra. That is debatable though. If so Neji wins, if not then I dont think Neji is fast enough to get around the sand shield.

Gaara should win this. I don't see Neji getting through his defense. If he managed to get his hands on him he could send chakra through the sand to damage his organs but I don't see him getting that close. Neji's defense can fend off the sand but Gaara outlasts him in this battle.

During the exams possibly Neji. Gentle Fist should be able to get through the sand since it has chakra and doesn't seem overly thick.

During the rescue arc definitely Gaara. His attacks are just way too massive

Gentlefist should be able to pierce the sand armor, since it still has chakra flowing through it, and its not abundantly thick. It's different from Kido's golden armor since that specifically protects against chakra. So he should have a good chance far as chuunin exams goes. Rescue arc is a no contest in Gaara's favor though.

Well i think Neji might just take this. Is there chakra in the sand? If so then it's by by Gaara, Nejis rotating could stop desert burial. As for the flying thing seems like a waste of chakra when the attack gets reflected, his sand cant get through solid chakra look what happened with the chidori which is chakra, it cut right through Gaaras sand

They bothhave some crazy Defense but we know Neji has a means of breaking Gaara's.
The only problem is that when u pit an expert long distance fighter(Gaara) against an expert close-up fighter(Neji), the advantage is easily with Gaara because he has what a boxer would call more "reach". The bad thing about Neji is if he got close enough then used 128 palms once in range, would Gaara then rely on or give in to Shikaku?

This is definitely in Gaara's favour, but not necessarily a done and dried deal.
We don't know what Neji could do and he may well be able to knock the Chakra from Gaara's sand or something to that tune, in this case it is obviously an easy win.
If he can't do this it is very, very hard for him to win as he'd have to get in close and faster and hit Gaara with the heaviest Juuken he can to rip him up inside, having said that all Neji really needs is one good hit and Gaara is done, say the heart for example.

BUUUT all Gaara needs to do is shield himself well and Neji will have trouble, especially if he tried his really big techniques like Sand Cataract.

Nejo only really has to worry about Gaara's really powerful attack techniques.

Gaara is Neji's nightmare: Neji cannot close in, his kaiten will not be effective for very long, and he has no real answer to Gaara's attacks. I do not believe that his Gentle Fist style would be effective against Gaara's sand, as any other reasons aside there is far too much sand. On top of that, Gaara is at a far higher overall level.

You see, it depends quite heavily on the incarnations in my opinion.

The only incarnation I'd be confidant in saying Neji would be during the Chuunin exams, because at this stage Gaara didn't use a lot of sand and mainly relied on his chakra-enriched gourd sand.

Anywhere past here and I wouldn't eliminate the prospect of a Neji victory, but it becomes more and more remote.

Monster-Gaara is another tough call...but he'll probably take it through sheer power.
