Why do you find insulting? I doubt the author does. Kishimoto had some very strong yaoi hints during the Zabuza ark between Zabuza and Haku. So in my opinion Kishimoto isn't all that un-yaoi friendly.

What I find really amusing, and haven't seen it in this thread yet, is that guys who offten protest agaisnt yaoi support Yuri, both are homosexuality.

He refers to it at least three times in the data book, even names the kid who knocks them together, and mentions it again there (this being one of the three), not only samurais, but many powerful Shogans and Daimyos had harems of both men and women. There's a Japanese Scholar who jokes about this. He says (something like) "A pretty girl had no chance to bed a samurai if there was a pretty boy around."

Yaoi hints are female fanservice, hot, busty woman is male fanservice :) (women are harder to please than men :wink ) Kishimoto puts both in there. I wouldn't be suprised he had another pair of nin having the same type of relationship as Zabuza and Haku.

But Uchihacest is bad and icky.

well, incest's just baaad...sorry, but I think that incest fics have the right to be bashed...especially when in the canon the relationship of the two siblings(or something like that) ain't that good(angel sanctuary incest fics are allowed, because it's bloody canon)

I prefer to read sasunaru(or rather narusasu) instead of naruhina(I hate to read het fiction), but still I cheer for the naruhina pairing to come true. Though I don't like sasusaku at all...
(hell I'm even thinking of writing a very very slooow moving naruhina au but one where other relation ships are shown aswell)
But the chance of happening shouldn't be used as an exuse to hate a pairing, neither should the preference of the paring mather(except when it's incest)... If I don't like a pairing, I would never bash the people who do...I even don't do that with characters...

But you can't say: "and now stop writing those kind of pairings" because people won't listen to you anyway...and why would they?
Though you can say: "that OC you made is a mary sue, and she destroyes the charm of those character..."(Do note that most people who make mary sues are to stupid to realise that when someone says something bad about their fiction, it's not automatically a flame...)

Right, because the fact that the genres of June and BL and most of the inspiration for shounen-ai and yaoi originated in Japan, and are drawn by almost exclusively Japanese artists, who actually publish their yaoi doujinshis and sell them in stores.
And not just specialty stores...actual stores.

I'll make no attempts to pretend I like yaoi, that's just my taste as a female. I know plenty of anime fangirls like it, and that's all good for them.

MY reason for not liking it in this case, is only because I do feel it's clearly unlikely for the characters in Naruto to become such couples, besides the obvious Haku/Zabuza and a few others.

I feel nothing hints at it, and it bothers me that people could twist the things friends do and experience to suit their own needs. Things like, "Oh, Gaara saved Lee, he must like him THAT way."

Or, "Naruto and Sasuke accidentally kissed, they must have REALLU liked it and there hatred to each other outwardly is just hiding the sweet lust inside."

People grab at straws for the non-yaoi characters, creating stories from simple things that are twisted around.

I feel it insults the characters. When a friendly smile or a hand shake becomes the next excuse for 'jumping bones' in a character pair, it's just silly.

BUT. It IS fantasy, and I'd be a hypocrite to say one should stop writing such fics, when I love looking at yuri doujinshi or hetero couples, that can be just as out of character. EASILY just as out of character, since it's clear at this point in the story that the characters have no time or real interest in the same or opposite sex.

I say, welcome to the world of fandom, and realize that people will always do their best to create fanfiction and fanart about the characters they love, and I'm sure Kishimoto appreciates the sort of affection for his creations none the less.

Well, there's two ways to look at it, and either one is plausible

A) Sasu is a super control freak with issues. So it makes sense that he's a top because he NEEDS to be in control.

What I find horribly amusing in this thread is that most of your reasons to why you dislike yaoi fanfictions is almost the exact reason why I dislike most het. You can't say that yaoi fanfiction is all the same without applying that same fact about het relationships. There is no het romance that I've read that the idea hasn't been used a hundred times before. Mostly because once a new, interesting idea is formed, a hundred people copy it. ^^We all have sharingans for the sake of fanfictions.

Actually, I read all types of relationships, if it is done well. Yes, this does include incestual. However, I still have squick issues with it. I have high expectations, so the redundant crap (which can be found in any genre) I disregard. Since my expectations are so high, I read every type of pairing because the good ones are so hard to fine. However, what I find is that in shounen-ai/yaoi stories, they tend, as a whole, to be better. When I read I like there to be character development and plot, you can't have a good yaoi fic without either of these. Most het I find make the romance too easy. Either they simply slide into it, or the angst appears in the woman being raped or having some such tragedy occur to one of them. Yaoi tends to have a lot of soul-searching and self-realization before they can move on. Not simply to go 'omg i'm gay', that's not what I'm saying. They have to pass through many mental barriers to accept love...in any form. ^^I also lean towards mental-trama-ed characters, because they are a lot more interesting.

I agree with most of you in the really really stupid fics that go 'naruto/sasuke is so cute/hot/sexy, omgfreakinggod did I just think that?' should just die. That is just bad writers, or people simply not trying. However, you can find fics like that in anywhere, so bashing an entire genre like this is very hypocritical.

Not that I mind this thread. Its horribly amusing, especially when some of you started discussing whether or not sasuke would be the uke IF there WERE a yaoi relationship. ^^most of you are really smart individuals, so thats why I replied. A lot of us don't just read for the sex, but for the characters, which is why anyone would read any fanfiction.

Basically, I've found, is to find a good fanfiction...in any form, is to find a fic of a scarce pairing. Because then the author tends to be very good, and has to do all sorts of character developments to get it halfway believable. Yaoi deson't really bother me, but I do find it weird. Just something about 2 men going at it which gives me the cringes especially the characters from a serise I love. Yaoi deson't really bother me, but I do find it weird. Just something about 2 men going at it which gives me the cringes especially the characters from a serise I love. And it isn't me being a gay hater, I just feel that people who write about couples that are not designated in the story are somehow disrespecting the artists work. I am just as mad about Yaoi pairings as I am about incorrect pairings (Like...ino/zabuza or something...that'd be weird). If you write something that contradicts a writers masterpiece, do you think that he was wrong? that his writing was incorrect and yours is better? I don't think it is up to anyone but the writer to decide that.

All that in mind, I think that everyone has their own opinions, and they have the right to express those opinions in any form that they see fit, as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of anyone else. I, in fact, am a fanfiction writer myself, I add pairings that I belive Kishimoto(or whomever's anime I'm writing about) would want to put into his manga. So keep on truckin yaoi fangirls, I refuse to read your work and maybe you will refuse to read mine. That is the perfect balance of the world at its finest.

I don't really care if it's yaoi; gay people in real life and fiction don't bother me at all, period. However, ANY relationship is made less palatable when common sense is ignored. When it comes to fanfiction, THERE'S A THING CALLED STAYING IN CHARACTER and that would mean that:

a) Sasuke isn't going to be all emotional and posessive over a completely weepy and super affectionate Naruto. Lame plot bunnies aside, just think about how these guys really act. Neji doesn't like ANYONE; if he did, Naruto and Sasuke would be at the end of the list. Shikamaru can't be bothered with male love triangles; a female love triangle is bad enough. Gaara probably doesn't know what sex is. Yeah, they're attractive characters but plopping them in the middle of some random OMG HAWTBOYSEX story is really lame. It also helps if the characters, you know, have a basis for even beginning any type of interaction, such as TALKING. I don't know how often Gaara and Neji strike up a conversation, but it soooo naturally leads to kinky sand sex :/

b) Kakashi ISN'T FOR THE LOVE OF GOD going to rape Iruka! You do realize that rape isn't in the makeup of most Naruto characters, right? NEITHER IS RANDOM WEEPING. Okay, Lee and Gai cry, but it's comic relief only. Plus they do have real personalities and they don't make a great yaoi couple.

c) NO MAN IS GOING TO BE PREGNANT OR BE "CURED" FROM THE HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE THAT IS RAPE BY OMG!HEALING SEX! Sadly, this one leads me to the next one...

d) Uchihacest...which is by definition rape, as SASUKE HATES ITACHI. Poor Sasuke weeping "ni-san! OH NI-SAN!" as his brother sexually abuses him is about as hot as flushing a toilet full of crap. And if Sasuke can't forgive Itachi for KILLING THE ENTIRE CLAN, I'm sure he's ready to forgive him for violating his body and further degrading his fragile psyche. The "it's so cute" excuse has got to go; would you like to see real-life rape/incest between a nineteen year old and a minor? NO.


Okay, that being said, I don't mind any yaoi in the slightest that does not involve Uchihacest and manages to incorporate a plot, decent grammar, and intelligent characterization; a love story isn't about two hot people having sex, whether they be yaoi, yuri, or het. I've actually been sold on a select few yaoi stories because the author had talent, not because she picked the two hottest guys in the naruto fandom and made them screw. Want to know the most convincing couple I've seen portrayed in a work of fanfiction? Lee and Gaara. The author successfully dealt with their issues (let's not forget that EVERY person in Naruto has them) and didn't throw them together in bed after paragraph five. THEY BECAME FRIENDS FIRST, AND VERY, VERY SLOWLY. That's the only way a yaoi fic is going to make sense, especially with these characters. Relationships come first, and rivalries don't count.

Geez, some people are far to easily offended. I shall admit out-right that I am no big fan of shounen-ai, but I can stand it as long as it is just that (shounen ai not more explicit yaoi). However that does not in any way whatsoever give me the right to say that other people cannot enjoy it. Fact is, that written text and drawings have never harmed anyone. If some yaoi-fangirl decides to make a yaoi-doujinshi about Itachi raping Sasuke, I would personally find it to be disgusting. But it is infinitely much better then, then say stealing. Why is this?
