Well, from what we've seen, Yamato is capable of turning his flesh in to wood and creating wood barriers. I'm not sure how he would fare against the Third Kazekage's black sand thingy, but i'm pretty sure yamato's mokuton can immobilize any of sasori's attack

Yamato loses this one. He has no way of breaking Hiruko but he can try and constrict it but Mokuton branches would break to easily against him. Not to mention Satetsu and the sheer numbers he is facing. Also he cannot get hit once or its curtains. I think that is asking a little much when you encounter attacks like Satetsu.

That attack he used against Kakuzu seemed to have some nice range on it, he could clear a couple puppets aside on his way to his main target... and wood is more flexible than iron. What about Ironwood... it's pretty strong. I think Yamato would give Sasori a run for his money, but he would lose in the long run.

LOL all he needs to do is eliminate Sasori with mokuton or rapestomp earth like Moises or suiton whole battlefield to block Sasori's chakra strings
3rd kazekage is only puppet- without Sasori's chakra's strings his metal is useless
if it would be 3rd Kazekage then Yamato loses but Sasori cant protect himself and protect his puppet in the same time

I reckon if the puppets are made of wood then Yamato will control it somehow. However, Yamato isn't a cool ninja in my books and Sasori is just uber cool so he wins by default. I think Sasori is the best mid-range fighter in the show.

Yamato's power with it doesn't compare to Shodai's. That simple, he's utterly out-classed here and Suitons or Dotons aren't stoping Sandaime Kazekage.

He can easily change the landscape to his advantage, but Yamato needs to be able to know how to dodge Sasori's traps in order to defeat him. Sakura only beat him because of Chiyo's knowledge of Sasori's techniques and puppeterring skill.

Well I think Yamato could pull off a victory, its very unlikley, remember its not like Sasori is the only one with a great skill...Yamato can change the enviornment he can also shield himself from a large portion of Sasori's traps...Just because your Akutski doesnt mean you can auto win every fight, granted I think Yamato would also fall but its not like it would be right off the bat...

Man, people seriously underestimate Hiroku. it had almost perfect defensive abilities. it took Chiyo's expensive knowledge of it's traps and weaknesses, her excellent use of chakra strings to both enhance Sakura's speed, and slow the puppets attacks, and Sakura's almost unparalleled strength to take it down.

I dont see Yamato, or most ninja, getting past this first stage. especially 1v1.
