Kakuzu may be built to fight multiple opponents, but Team Konoha are all Elite Jounin, Kage-threatening strength (no they wouldn't beat a Kage, but they wouldn't be crushed easily). Sure, Kakuzu went toe to toe with a Kage himself, but I simply don't think he can handle the combined power of those three. I'll explain my argument in further detail if someone disagrees with me, but until then I find no need to elaborate.

That would be against fact. Kakashi, with people's help, managed to only get 2/5 of Kakuzu's hearts and have little left in him to fight. Alone , he simply can't beat Kakuzu. If he used MS, pretty much he would destroy 1-3 of Kakuzu hearts and have no Chakra left, thus he'd be defeated. 8 Gate Gai on the other hand, we haven't seen.

Possibly, but I don't think just one of them could win, since Kakuzu did stalemate Shodaime (am I wrong?).

Still, your point is good, I think Kakashi & Gai vs Kakuzu would be a fairer fight, Asuma is just overkill.

Gai wouldn't need all 8 gates, maybe 6 or even 7 (my fave). Asuma provides a distraction fighting head on in an evasive manner while Kakashi focuses his MS on the mask-things. 2 MS's and a Raikiri would bring down 3 of em while Morning Peacock from behind decimates Kakuzu to dust.

Kakashi only did bad because he was saving Ino and Chouji left and right. If he didn't have any people to save, he wouldn't waste Chakra, and be able to do much more damage.

Plus, Gai is pretty beastly. Asuma is just ownage as well. Kakuzu can't beat 3 of these guys at once.

People...Kakashi already was in the grips of death twice while facing Kakuzu. Gai's taijutsu would do nothing to Kakuzu's iron body and Asuma is nothing compared to him. Kakuzu wins this fight.

Oh RLY? Morning peacock isn't that strong, going by the looks of the corpse of the fake Kisame. It was pretty much INTACT.

Unless you wield a move as powerful as Naruto's new Rasengan, then you've got to kill Kakuzu 5 times. I threw in Asuma in this fight because honestly, even though i love him and he's one of my favorites, Gai wouldn't be so effective in the fight. I can see him maybe taking out a heart if he lands a morning peacock perfectly. His taijutsu wouldn't be so useful. Asuma and Kakashi on the other hand will have to focus on taking out the hearts. Which isn't so easy.

I say this fight is 50/50.

Konoha wins, but crawls home, in my opinion.

This is like asking if Chidori.Sharingan.Shadow Clones/brute strength.gates/...emphyzema... can beat five hearts and mastery of five elements. Though, it would make things smoother with Shikamaru added in the mix, but Kakashi's about his intelligence. Like I said, team Konoha goes home, but it won't be a walk in the park.

Kakuzu could beat these guys. The only reason he lost hearts were due to 3 things.

-Kakashi surprising him.
-Hidan's utter incompetence/Shikamaru's plan.
-FRS.

In a straight up fight, these three are going to find it difficult to kill him. Especially five times over. They'll do a fuckload of damage (hell, even that is debatable), but Kakuzu is going to take this in the end.

Also what's with Kakuzu being the weakest member? If he's the weakest then the Leader should be able to kill the whole Naruto universe alone and capture all the Bijuu without assistance?

Some might be talk, but Gai/Asuma can distract or w/e, while kakashi MSs him away... Kakuzu probably doesn't have any knowledge on that jutsu.. if it infact is susano.. not even sasuke seems to >_> <_<

uhh.... Kakashi only defended them once, and that was when Hidan was helping him.

As for the topic, I think this would be the closest fight I have seen in the battledome for a good while. With Gai going 8 gates, I see the Jounin queakign out a win, and gai's death (and probobly Asuma's to)

Kakashi solos. Or Gai/Asuma win together. I would challenge your assertion that Kakuzu is one of the deadliest. He and his partner looked to me like they were of a weaker tier than Pein, Itachi, Sasori, Orochimaru, Kisame, and Deidara.

He felt he could buy himself time with the MS. The aim sucks to bad with it to expect kakashi to get all 3 hearts with 1 shot. And this was jsut the second time Kakuzu caught him.

The first time Kakuzu caught him Kakshi didn't even have a chance to MS his ass. Kakashi wasn't even facing Kakuzu at the time, so no way he could have hit the man. Kakashi was saved purely by plot, and a retarded Hidan.

Kakuzu would giv the Konoha jounin a run for their money. Depending on how well Gai and Asuma can distract Kakuzu, Kakashi could pop out a couple of hearts. Over the course of the fight id say that Kakashi, and possibly Gai, are the only 2 to survive, but both would be on the edge.

Kakuzu is so far above Kisame and Sasori that it isn't funny. He fought Shodaime to a standstill- in hype terms, that makes him > Madara (which is ridiculous, but you never know).

However, Gai and Kakashi's temporary Akatuski-level power can take this. Gai uses a bunch of Gates and kicks Kakuzu into the ground. Kakashi pulls a quick Raikiri or MS and kills the Earth heart. After that, the jounin can destroy one heart at a time, through nunchuck smashing, MS and wind-knifing. Kakuzu is crazy strong, but much of that power comes from his Earth armor- without it, he's vulnerable. At least one Jounin dies, but they can take this in the end. The team against Kakuzu would stand a fair chance against almost any other manga character.
