How did Naruto come into existance? Yondy found a newborn baby just lying around somewhere? If no one knows anything about Naruto's parents it is safe to assume that Yondy could have had a woman with Naruto in secret. Why keep it secret? Because Kishimoto wants to reveal it later and make you go "OMG!" It's the suspense factor.

IMO it would be a big plot hole is the 4th was his father. If he was, no one would treat Naruto the way they did (although how he was treated didn't seem too bad to me...) and some one would have told him by now, there would be absolutely no reason not to tell him. If the 4th does end up being Naruto's father then it obviously is something Kishi thought of way after he started writing the manga.

The entire "Yondaime is Naruto's Dad" thing is still a theory, despite all the hard evidence. Kishimoto will tell us Yondaime's role when he wants to.

And IF it's true, maybe they just don't want him to know. 7/8 of the village doesn't exactly like him.

However, it might have something to do with the Sandaime or someone like that forbidding others to speak of it for reasons that have yet to be explained. And plot no jutsu would deem that the revelation of Naruto's parentage will make a much bigger impact later on in the series.

Those citizens are so wack for the way they treated Naruto it wouldn't surprise me at all they wouldn't tell him something like this. Besides, does he seem like the kind of person who would endanger someone else's child to attempt a very risky jutsu? He probably knew his fate for sometime, how else would he know to develop the complicated jutsu before the Kyuubi appeared? Its application seems rather limited and the price very high to be developed just as an afterthought.

I don't know why it is never revealed to Naruto but it is showed in the manga and anime. It shows on the first episode/chapter The 4th on top of the frog boss and when naruto signs the contract the person right next to it is arashi uzumaki.

Personally, I think Naruto is just a clone too like others think. He used The Seal technique that took the life of the 3rd in his battle with Orochimaru, to take away the soul of the fox demon and seal it within him (as said by the 3rd during his final fight).

There are still a couple of things missing to make this 100% solid. The 4ths mastery of the clone technique is still unknown. Could he make a clone of himself to become any age? Where there any other techniques involved in which allowed this one particular clone to survive the Soul steal technique's final outcome of death?

Why its kept a secret from him might have to do with 3rd party interests taking notice of what just happened and wanting to manipulate it and gain its strength for their advantage (as currently already illustrated by the interest in Naruto from other groups). Think aboout it, a way in which one can steal the soul of another being, add it to their own, and be reborn with the strengths of all souls involved. Immortality and ultimate strength in one neat little package.

The rest of the Village might indeed have known that he had the fox demon inside of him, but they might not have been privy to knowing that he was a clone of the 4th, which would have been privy only to a select few (the 3rd, Jiraiya, the 5th, etc.).

Well, there's always the possibility that none of the villagers know about it, which is likely, seeing as though they could tell anyone, which could result into Naruto ebing kidnapped/killed before he learnt to defend himself...

Also, it would be hard for Naruto, who didn't really have any extra training (most got extra from parents/siblings) to live up to expecations...

Plus, it makes the story a bit more interesting, e.g. this thread. Its one of the many mysteries of Naruto that the readers/watchers love... It would be boring without all the secrets and twists, wouldn't it? Like I said on a similar thread, and many people have probably already said this, but it's probably going to be a while until anything big like this happens anyway, so we should just enjoy the story for now, and keep the surprise until the whole thing unfolds...

i bet that yondaime is his father (im not saying that i actually know that he is, i guess we have to wait till kishi decides when to say who is naruto's fathers) there are several reasons why i think that yondai is his father:

1.- yondaime and naruto are the same spiky blonde haired, person also they look almost equally in aspects.

2.- is that the only one that have been able to make a rasengan as strong as the rasengan made by the fourth is naruto, also the one that is so close to create the rasengan + element is naruto, what more proof than that a father that created a technique that he himself could complete, so that his son could make what his father coulldn't.

3.- also the fact that both of them can summon gamabunta, i know that this is a little bit silly but think for a while, if being able to summon gamabunta as yondaime is stupid why kishi didnt make jiraiya teach naruto learn to summon frogs why he didnt make jiraiya teach naruto to summon something else. of all the possible summons we have seen so far why naruto had to summon gamabunta as his first summon (fourth used this same frog to stop the nine-tails)

4.- now it is about the sealed nine tails, why did yondaime the one whose mission and wish is to protect konoha decided to seal the nine tails inside and uknown kid????, why not inside his son, his own blood, the one that he knew would be able to control the same beast he sealed before dying. why sealing a so dangerous monster inside an uknown kid when your wish is to protect konoha.

5.- an the last brainwaved proof, look back to the jinchuuryki that exists rigth now... Gaara have had the same feelings as naruto, not being acknowledge, being alone the whole time and everything because he has a beast sealed by HIS OWN FATHER INSIDE HIM... in other words the sand monster (don't recall its name) was placed inside gaara by his own father, why it couldnt have happened to naruto too. them both have being alone always and not being acknowledge, i guess the fact that having a beast inside u sealed by your fathers isnt hard to believe.

but as i said it is just a theory, so dont take it so seriously. Gaara and naruto they are the same and also different.

so point 3) It' s because all the guys who summon animals have contracts with these animals. Orochimaru with snakes, tsunade with these ugly things, jiraiya with frogs, kakashi with dogs etc... Jiraiya was naruto' s second teacher and the only one to make him sign a contract so.....

IMO, it probably has something to do more with the Kyuubi, maybe that was once the yondaime's wife as a jinchurukki but for some freak reason transformed into the full kyuubi, actually giving birth to Naruto. It might've ultimately been kept secret so none of the other nations knew Naruto was a Bijuu.

- Maybe the mother isn't worth knowing (e.g. forbidden love with enemy ninja or something silly like that)
- Everything involving Kyuubi is kept secret
- No arrogance for Naruto.
- Yondaime is a pirate

lol you never know.. maybe she and Yondaime grew closer after the loss of Obito and began having a relationship, which eventually resulted in an underage pregnancy/ baby. Fearing the reputation of the Hokage/ Konoha, the higher-ups may have had Rin 'disappear' by means of ANBU. This would explain why she's nowhere to be seen nowadays... Also the grief of her loss may have given Yondaime the determination to sacrifice himself in battle in order to secure the future of his son.

The reason nobody in Konoha has told Naruto about their connection, would be because the scandal was covered up so well, they don't know Yondaime even had a son in the first place.

Yeah okay this is pretty damn far-fetched.. but it's one possible explanation!
