But he's up against someone who can copy his jutsus, has an insane amount of stamina and a high speed attack with lots of supplementary ninjutsu (Sasuke) someone with a nigh-infinite amount of stamina and a second chakra inside of him who works well in a team and has powerful techniques and summons (Naruto) and a girl well versed in breaking genjutsu and creating a distraction for the other two powerhouses to strike (Sakura).

It's not so much the quantity of shinobi that win Team 7 this fight, but rather the unique abilities and the quality of each individual shinobi, plus their stellar teamwork.

Again, Kabuto is an excellent shinobi and could likely defeat any of the other teams on his own, but this time he's outmatched.

Not only that, but Kabuto's speed becomes somewhat meaningless because the sharingan can predict where he is going to go, and Sasuke could decide to hit Kabuto with a mid range technique or some good old fashioned taijutsu.

I seem to recall, despite Kabuto having fought Tsunade then Shizune, and then underestimating Naruto (a plot device usually used to shift things into Naruto's favor) - the end result of their fight was that Kabuto had a hard time standing but Naruto needed Tsunade's healing or he'd die.

Anyway, I'd hate to really say one way or the other. Kabuto is the most overrated and underrated at the same time - some think not up to anything and others think he's up to everything.

Pre-rescue arc - Kabuto takes them all out
Post-rescue arc - Kabuto feared the sheer power that Sasuke had (which roughly equaled Naruto's). Greater sheer power doesn't mean victory, but there's three of them....
Post-timeskip - It's hard to scale Kabuto to TS Team 7, but as a group, they'd definitely win, unless he could make it a summon battle.

The vital difference between the two is that Kabuto can not hit Sasuke. If he tries, Sasuke is going to predict he will and will move. They don't do much if you can avoid them. Chidori, on the other hand, is a high speed thrust attack that could instantly kill Kabuto (Kabuto getting hit was PnJ, him surviving was also PnJ) that he can use whilst Kabuto is busy against a little something called KN1.


Kabuto has shown us he can do chakra scalpels, come out of the ground, and sub-par taijutsu, and above average intelligence. That is not going to help him fight against an entire team at once.

You see where he fights a team? Oh, wait, he never did. That's because Kabuto is going to suck in a team battle. He isn't built for it.

The flaw is in the biased use of Jiraiya's conclusions, basically picking and choosing when to use actual results with Jiraiya's beliefs. Jiraiya telling Shizune to fight Kabuto does not make him think that she is better, but there is nobody else to fight Kabuto. As for your logic of having him tell Naruto to help Shizune if he thought she was too weak, it wouldn't matter if he helps or not. In a battle of 2 Jounins levels, a Genin is not going to change anything, and will possibly just get in the way and become a hostage. Kabuto took a swipe from KN3 and got up within minutes and was walking around just fine. At least Rasengan kept him down for a while. It's still damn powerful, but so is Kabuto's attack.

Keep in mind that it had hit a chuunin in the past when Jiraiya first showed it and he survived. Humans are actually more durable than landscape/objects in Naruto. It's a strange but true fact(look at the small hole Kidoumaru's arrow left in Neji and look at the crater it left in the ground)

There's no special rules, it's just a fact of the matter that you can't see the future and still be within a system. It creates a sort of time paradox. If Sasuke saw someone about to move forward, and in return, he moved his arm in place, his opponent would see him move his arm, and would also react. By being part of the system in which he is fighting, he is doomed to the causal effects of his own actions affecting the accuracy of his predictions.

There's also a few cases where even the Sharingan can't predict everything. Zabuza landed a kick on Kakashi in plain sight of the Sharingan. Haku moved in the way of his Chidori.
Insight as to the possible path of attacks is a nice feature, but it isn't the be all and end all of a fight. An opponent who can also read their movements through sheer analytical intelligence or strategically force them into a position where there's no physical way to dodge(think of checkmates in chess) will still be able to hit them. Kabuto actually has both

On top of that it's not really realistic since literally everyone from Zabuza, Itachi, Sasuke, Tsunade, Neji, Shizune, and everyone who's ever had an opponent come from underground has never moved. Regardless of how good a strategy you think it is, it's not going to happen. Likely because they'd realize that moving would make them more susceptible to surprise attacks. If you don't know where your opponent is, moving around like a frantic rat actually leaves you more susceptible since you're going to be less aware of your surroundings.

Well Kabuto is a strong as kakashi. But what we've seen from Kabuto so far is not impressive at all. And thats why im giving this one to team 7. I mean sasuke (sharingan/ chidori/curse seal) and add naruto to that with kyuubi powers and the rasengan, to me thats enough right there, but with sakura, it just made it a little easier.

But again I think kabuto will have a lot more to show later

He didn't know it, he could only assume it. I doubt he saw the beginning of the fight, maybe a little part of it. Possibly he heard something from Kakashi, but we don't know it.

In all likelihood, it's because he has a spy in Orochimaru's organization, or has spied himself. Keep in mind that Jiraiya has kept relatively close tabs on his former teammate, he knew his affiliation with Orochimaru, his time limit for switching bodies, etc. Or just as likely it could be that the Sannin are just THAT damn experienced from fighting in so many wars that they can tell how strong someone is with a glance.

One way or another, he's not going to randomly say that without some heavy confidence. Same for Orochimaru. When two of the most legendary shinobi say he's at Kakashi's level, there's good reason to believe he is.

Taking what all of the Sannin have individually said about him, he's at least as good as Kakashi.

Given that even with intent to kill, two of them couldn't get BELLS off of Kakashi without using a tactic that would never work if Kakashi went at them with intent to kill, Team 7 wouldn't even be able to do it postskip, even with Sasuke. Given, from the hint we saw at the beginning of Shippuden, it seems Sasuke is pretty damn good now, the gap between Naruto/Sakura and Kakashi is likely bigger.

Or at the very least, even if Sasuke is that strong, before the skip, their combined skill before training with Orochimaru definitely wouldn't be enough since Sasuke was about where Naruto was at that point.
