Yeah, it's a theroy. But it's really more of a joke than anything else, along with 90% of the "Akatsuki Leader is _______!" theroys. Techincally it's possible but, come on, it's possible it's that guy who wanted to kill Naruto in Ep. 1, that doesn't mean it's true.

I believe it, it makes logical sense.plus he has the same hair as Obito and he was Zetzus's subordinate. Whats to say Zetzu didn't dig him out of that rumble before he died.It wouldn't be the first time someone in naruto survived a near death experience.

I think Tobi is Obito and that he has suffered from permanent brain damage and may see the world differently now, explaining his erratic behavior and possible change of heart while still being a "good boy". I think Zetsu found him, and Kakuzu put him back together again.

tobi seems to be as evil as a teady bear. he is retarted from the brain damage he suffered. and it would be cool if his right side of his brain is a mechanical brain or a chip that is a shape of the brain. and the other half will have a normal half of the brain. maybe the not crushed side of the brain is whats making him act like a kid. and the crushed side of his brain may be the reason of his very proper voacabulary and maner of speech that is being corrected by the super computer brain or something like that.

Orochimaru was looking for ways to further his goals, and I am sure that his interest in the Sharingan developed much earlier than when Itachi and Sasuke were doing all of their running around Konohagakure.

He and Sasori were also partners, two people who both had the desire to be immortal, and at least one whom likes doing all kinds of unethical tests on subordinates. So it is highly possible that when the death toll* for the battle was being calculated Orochimaru could have gotten to his body before he was given the proper sending away.

He probably could have fixed him, I don't think things like Organ's and important bodily functions have much to do with Naruto (i.e: Transfer of an eye from one person to another) so it is possible that Oro could have preserved Obito long enough for him to replace his destroyed body with puppet (and/or mechanical) parts.

Then, if his sharingan eye is still there... well then he is a benefit as a lackey (which he was until Sasori got to big for his own good). If not... well then he can still be a lackey.

It's too obvious that it could be Obito - so most likely, Kishi will make it so that Tobi is NOT Obito. He has a habit of 'going out of the box'

Remember Obito is an Uchiha..So it is impossible for 2 Uchihas in Akatsuki!

I agree with Continuity on the note of the eye. Also, there are more reasons that support him being Obito than ones that don't. And at least it's far less ridiculous than AL=Yondaime.
