Orochimaru (w/o Sword of Kusanagi) vs Sasori

Heres the deal, it's pretty much everything you can infer from the title. Orochimaru is minding his own business, about to pick up the Sword of Kusangi from the shop, maybe grab a snack for Sasuke; when Sasori rolls up on the scene and starts some shit.

Here's a couple stats:

Orochimaru
-one of the strongest/most gifted shinobi in all the land
-main villain and all around bad guy of the series

Sasori
-Akatsuki member noted for committing what is arguably the greatest atrocities amongst the ones we know
-Once took down a whole country single-handedly

Cons

Orochimaru
-Couldn't take down one village with the full support of Sunagure, his sound entourtage, two Kages, and the element of surprise.

Sasori
-Got beat up by a couple of girls :P

The country that Sasori destroyed did have ninjas, or there would be no point in saying it. The purpose of it was to hype Sasori, not make him look like a weakling who picks on civilians. Also, before someone else says it, he didn't say whether it was a large country or a small country, so don't assume it was small because you don't think it's right. Sasuke just cleared 1000 ninjas without a single scratch. I'm sure Sasori's style of fighting can kill even more no-name ninjas than that.

Once you have a face and a name in this manga, you're automatically stronger than all those cannon fodder jounin and ANBU.

Since you made the battle using Orochimaru without Kusanagi and without prep-time, this goes to Sasori. Without Kusanagi and Edo Tensei, Orochimaru has not yet demonstrated a way to break through Hiruko unless he uses Manda, who's an asshole. This is of course, going only by what we've seen of Orochimaru.

However, it isn't stated that there were "1000" ninjas, but you can pretty much see that there is alot of them.

Kusanagi is just a tool.

It's basically like Hiruko to Sasori, Oro's favourite but it isn't any real power level booster. Hell, basically the only difference it has to a normal sword is that it's hard as diamond/unbreakable.

Might I point out that Sasori has no prep-time either. He just sorta sees Orochimaru and says "Hey, thats the defect that ran crying from the organization thanks to Itachi... the AL would love it if I brought his head back with me!"

You guys seem to forget oro became a sannin before he started openly using his forbidden techniques and as for the sword he could easily use a kunai or an exploding tag. imo oro is the best, not necessarily fastest or strongest but the best overall because of his many jutsus and skill. the only person i believe who is on the same level would be itachi.

i believe the AL will not be as a great ninja but rather just have some hax jutsu and decent skills.

Sasori doesn't need prep-time because he doesn't use Edo Tensei.

I already took that into consideration. Any moderately strong character of some importance would destroy that weak snake. Even Forest of Death Sasuke and Naruto disposed of a couple of snakes half that size.

Manda is the only snake that would be a factor in this battle.

The snakes in the forest were maybe one fifth of it's size. The samller one could be killed with kunais.

Hiruko only has it's needles. Jiraiya needed the underword swamp to even disable one of these. Sasori has nothing like this.

I give it to Orochimaru, There is really no concrete evidence (that we've seen) to fully support a victory for either of them at this point. But given their importance to the storyline, their character, and how they were introduced, it would make more sense for Orochimaru to be greater than Sasori

Oro wins. He was confident enough to fight Sasori at the bridge where was disguised as Sasori.

They are ex-partners so they most likely knew eachother's moves. Oro would know to get past Hiruko and avoid all that poison. Also, he's got the snake summons, and if allowed (prep-time), Edo Tensai would to the job.

Double standard. We could just as easily say that since they were ex-partners and knew each other's moves, Sasori could get around Orochimaru's jutsus and avoid his tongue. Oro has snake summons, Sasori has puppet summons. Oro gets no prep time so Edo Tensai is a non-factor.

Orochimaru might have some extra moves up his sleeves or down his throat, since after all we've not seen him go all out yet (his fight against Sandaime might qualify, but since Oro survived that encounter he's doubtlessly received the requisite villain power boost by now). But based on what we've seen, I give this to Sasori.

Oro would win this. Oro is simply incredible with his Jutsu and will have a plan to defeat Sasori. It will be tough but if he has had Kabuto under his spell he could have followed him to Oro and killed him. I am sure he did not want to face Oro unless he had some type of tactical advantage. On even terms Oro wins this.
