Naruto Anime vs Naruto Manga - Which do you prefer!?

There are currently two known ways to enjoy the story of Naruto: through the manga created by Masashi Kishimoto or through the anime adaptation by Studio Pierrot.

Which medium do you prefer and why?

This one is a hard one for me.

I like the anime better, because i really like how they fill those holes, that you know Kishimoto, might never explain.

The anime shows more characters, i like a series with variety and not showing that same few characters over and over again, like the manga does.

The fillers were annoying, and i stopped watching after a while, but i would check it out from time-to-time and they showed more of the secondary characters then the manga ever did.

I really liked team Anko. With Naruto, Ino and Shino...those 3 really balance each other out and Anko makes are great genin leader.

But i always will like the manga...it obviously started the anime, i read every chapter, but i just wish he would show more people other than team 10. <_<

The anime improves on certain manga scenes (Sasuke vs. Orochimaru, Sandaime vs. Orochimaru and such like) but ruins others (Gaara vs. Kimimaro for example) - overall it evens out. At their finest, though, I think I slightly prefer the anime... seeing everything in color and motion, with a great OST to accompany it, can be so amazing. :) But the manga is that bit more exciting, because I'm seeing the story for the first time; if I had to drop one format, I would drop the anime and continue reading the manga. So I don't really know what to vote for.

Oh yeah, I completely disregarded episodes 136-220 from my thoughts. They no longer exist. So I suppose I'll vote for "anime if you don't count the fillers"... it's close, though.

The manga is better hands down in my book. Though, I admit that if they keep up with this Shippuuden quality in music and animation, and don't bullshit us with much filler in this second part, the anime can at least come alot closer to the manga.

Still, manga is better through and through, in this case, and as a general rule.

Filler material in canon eps and poorly drawn scenes ruins the anime for me a bit.

Till Naruto I liked anime better than manga ( I mean in overall ). First, I watched the Naruto series in anime, and I loved it, didn't have any problem with the fillers or anything and yeah, music and voices add a LOT to the story. When I started to read the manga, I was still on the anime's side because I could understand the fights better in animation, and they were longer and more showy. But after some time, I don't even know when... I choose the manga over the anime. I always preferred books over movies and I'm very sensitive when it comes to the what is canon and what isn't question. And because the manga is the original, canon, and so on, I tend to put it above the anime adaptation. And I like the manga's graphics more, too, because (mostly at the beginning of the series, by now it has changed a lot) the characters were extremely unique - for example, Sasuke wasn't your usual-looking-good guy, but had a very characteristic face (which he lost at some time). And after some time I found the anime's pace too slow (compared to the manga's), and it emphasised little scenes it shouldn't have to. And there are a lot of things why I prefer the manga over the anime nowadays... mostly because I'm highly disappointed in Shippuuden's graphics (except for the Sasuke teaser). But still, I like the both, only the manga more.

It is not hard to say that the manga is of much more quality than the anime. Look at the fillers, looks at some crappy made episode, e.g. Oro vs Sandaime^^. Second it has no fillers.:p ; Fillers like in Bleach would be ok, but not this was."Hello star ninja, hello crazy weapon ninja"; I would die if Kishi would decide to go on holidays for more than 2 weeks a year. hehe Third: WHERE DID THE KAKASHI ARC GO!!!?!?! Or did I miss some episodes. 4th theres censorship in the naruto raws? but if that is a reason too. 5th. I could live without voices, music and animation before, so I can do it now too.

PS: Being able to see/read both is nice and I won't miss this chance, but all in all I prefer the manga. The true orginal.

The fights seem a hell of alot better than in the anime (and more bloodier) and there is never a boring moment unlike in the anime they can sometimes spend too much on a certain part and than you're like blah i don't want to see this. I probably prefer the manga also because it is way ahead of the anime ^^

Lately I've been more inclined towards the manga, but I can honestly say I've enjoyed the anime more. Now that both are in part two I mainly just read the manga, and once Shippuuden has been on for a bit and there is a bunch of episodes out I'll watch them in bulk. The anime, on the other hand, is so much more suspenseful and dramatic, the music, animation and addition to canon material is well appreciated by me. The manga is great, but for me it's weird. For Part One, I prefer the anime. For Part Two, the manga is god. The only problem with the anime in Part One is all the filler episodes that are SO stupid. I never understand how a shinobi can be outrun by some punk from the sticks. And Sasuke was being burned by that filler kid. Anyway, filler=shit isn't a new concept so I won't dwell on it.

I am very much concerned with consistency, which is why I hate Shipoo. I don't mind filler that would make sense in the plot, but not stupid things like Kakashi using all 5 elements even though he has only been shown using three in the manga. From Part One, at least some of the fillers weren't taking grand liberties (before the filler stretch at the end). Like Naruto's Bath House experience (after having found Tsunade) was funny and didn't impact the flow of canon storyline.

In Part 1(not counting the filler-arcs) I liked them about equally because the anime was drawn much better than the manga, but the anime also had some filler moments. So I liked the manga a bit better.

In Part 2 it's not even a question. The manga is much better drawn now, while the anime not only has tons of filler moments, but is also especially badly drawn (compared to part 1) and awefully animated most of the time (except ep. 26 :love).

So overall the manga wins.

Animation, Voice work, Music, COLOUR, more of it and come on people moan about fillers i kinda annoys me because to be honest why are they fillers??? there episodes of naruto that don't follow the manga not "fillers" at least we get more naruto i don't think the animators intentions were "come on guys let's make some shoddy episodes to get rid of the fans" they probably thought "come on guys we can't sit around waiting for more storylines why don't we make some back stories to the other characters and develop the characters so that people have more of an understanding of what the character has been through" i think what they have done is a good thing, because otherwise there would of been a massive gap between the series and the younger fans etc. (people who don't follow the manga) would have thought well that's that sho finished let's move onto something else. There that's my rant lol hope it has some meaning to some people.

It's pretty much a draw for me. I can't wait for years as the anime catches up. Plus, with what has happend recently in the manga, spoilers are everywhere. In short, I'm too impatient to wait for the anime and I just hate fillers. However, the anime does have good sides. You can watch it to update yourself on things you have forgotten, everything is more clear in moving pictures, and the music gives you the right feeling. That's why I follow both and the anime and the manga.

But when I did used to keep up with it, I preferred the anime. Reason being I have extremely bad eyes and the contrast between the blacks and whites on a manga page gives me a headache.

I actually prefer the anime. I like watching action in motion and the fluidity of the battles instead of looking at panels of fights. I have a love for voices that bring the characters emotion and life, and you can't forget about the music. Sure it has filler and crap, but the experience is more enjoyable for me if I can watch it and be engaged with the characters' voices, conveyed emotions, and action in the fight scenes.

For me its quit both, The manga because is is the original. comes close second (without filler arcs- hate them.) the reason because the manga can show just a part of the interaction, while the anime can show a bit more, so I think the aditional material in the regular episodes is a good thing.

It depends. If we were talking about pre-time skip(cannon material) I would say the anime by a small margin. I love music and the music helped me capture the true "feeling"(for lack of a better term) of the show. The manga when compared to this is still good.

When I look and compare to Shipudden I give my vote to the manga. I'm not saying shippuden is bad..but I don't quite get the same feel as I did the first half of the series(maybe because of the music).

I think the manga is better.... the artwork is awesome and I'm impressed of how well drawn the pictures of Kishimoto are^^
I also like the storyline much better, it's more fluently than in the anime where are too many fillers... they somehow disrupt the storyline... but some of them are good, too^^ well, the most of them are unnecessary v_v

Naruti anime was great, excluding the fillers it was better than Manga. It had good soundtrack nice animation, great fight scenes, etc.

But Naruto Shippuuden anime totally sucked. I mean its moving slow as hell. Did you know they had flashbacks in the same episodes? In the Orochimaru vs Naruto fight, they weren't fighting at all since they were staring at each other for 10 minutes or so. And the soundtrack is terrible.

the manga is amazing and goes at a perfect pace...and no fillers!!

though, as far as animes go, Naruto is pretty decent...Ignoring all the fillers, they keep all the scenes from the manga perfectly in the anime (well, at least they keep the anime much much closer to the manga than any other animes I've seen)
