Naruto Part I is divided into the following story arcs:


Wave Arc
Chuunin Exam Arc
Destruction of Konoha Arc
Search for Tsunade Arc
Rescue Sasuke Arc

Which arc was your favorite part of Part I?

For clarification, the Wave Arc includes the very first chapters of Naruto: Naruto becoming a ninja, Konohamaru, and the Bell Test.

The Chuunin Exam includes all events from Team 7's meeting of Gaara to Sasuke vs Gaara in the Chuunin Exam stadium.

The Destruction of Konoha Arc includes everything from Sarutobi vs Orochimaru till the funeral of the Sandaime. That also includes Naruto vs Gaara, Shino vs Kankurou, Gaara vs Sasuke round 2, and Shikamaru vs the 8 sound shinobi.

The Search for Tsunade includes the run-in with Itachi and Kisame since it was really just a detour of Naruto & Jiraiya's on their journey for Tsunade. And for the sake of limiting choices Itachi & Kisame vs Kakashi, Gai, Asuma, and Kurenai is included in this too.

Rescue Sasuke does include all events after Naruto, Jiraiya, and Tsunade return to Konoha. That does include Lee's surgery ordeal, Naruto vs Sasuke on the rooftop, Shikamaru's promotion to Chuunin, and the Genin's training.

This'll be a very hard decision for some, I'm sure. So take your time! ^^

To me it shows he's better off wandering around, like Jiriya(sp?) does. I think he would be more happy doing that, and learning new things from different villiages.

Destruction of Konoha. It was epic. The first Hokage level battle including one of the main villains of the series, Gaara vs. Naruto in the biggest and most emotional fight so far, the whole village in danger and every ninja playing their part... it was all on such a grand scale. And the way Naruto and Sandaime's fights coincided, as well as Sandaime's message about the Will of Fire being passed on to the new generations, was just perfect.

I went with Rescue Sasuke, as well. But it should be noted that I made my opinion based on the Naruto manga's version of that arc.

It was easily the most dramatic arc in the series, what with Lee's surgery, Shikamaru's awesome speech, Sakura's tears, Naruto's promise of a life time, the Rookie 9's fights, Lee & the Sand Siblings rescues, Kimimaro's touching death, the concern over Neji and Chouji's survival, and the epic Naruto vs Sasuke climax.

I'm going with the destruction of Konoha/Invasion arc, mainly because of the sheer quality of the fights in it. And there weren't any copout revivals. Sandaime actually stayed dead, and it did an excellent job of setting up the rest of the story. It didn't feel like a separate story point, but rather the central plot. And that's more than I can say for most of the arcs.

couldn't get much better: emotional, action driven, and well written.
2. chuunin exam - 8.8/10
lots of cool characters introduced, smart fights, and forest of death was sick.
3. destruction of konoha - 8.5/10
dragged on a bit but the sarutobis showing their worth was awesome.
4. wave country - 8.4/10
haku and zabuza were awesome antagonists, plus great introduction.
5. tsunade - 8.0/10
it was... fun, but lacked action for me, and i didn't really like tsunade.
(you didn't include kakashi gaiden i give that 9.0/10

Retrieve Sasuke arc. I'm noy much of a battle buff, but the fights really defined that arc. Such memorable moments such as Kiba bravely stabbing himself or a weakened Chouji pondering what could be his last thoughts as well as the thrilling/sad conclusion with Naruto and Sasuke.

Wave Country for me as well; none of the later arcs have managed to make a similar emotional impact. I would really like to see the parts with Haku and Zabuza remade though, catered to a more mature audience, as I think it's kept from reaching its full potential right now because of the targeted audience. The same could be said for just about the entire anime as well though. I can't stop thinking about how much better it could've been, just like how the main series of Rurouni Kenshin is compared to its OVAs. Oh well.

Rescue Sasuke and the Chuunin Exams. As many people have already said, Rescue Sasuke was just great because it was getting to a climax. No longer did you have any of those "lets stand around and contribute nothing to the main story" moments, but something was always going on. Things were getting more intense and you knew something amazing was going to result out of it.

With the Chuunin Exams on the other hand, I mainly liked them because everyone was finally together. Instead of walking around and staring at people you don't see again, you actually got to meet characters who would heavily contibute to the story later on. Not to mention the new personalities popping up definitely made things so much more interesting.

The destruction of Konoha was really enjoyable as the heart of Naruto part one. Seeing, Orochimaru and the Sandaime fighting as wall as Naruto and Gaara. It is a big turning point in the anime where we learn many things: the whereabouts of Orochimaru's betrayal, Gaara's history (heartbreaking)...

But then again, the Chuunin exam (especially the Forest of death's part) or the search for Tsunade (and the Sannin battle) are not bad either.

I wasnt reading the manga back then but boy I can rmember sitting in class and wondering just what a legendary kenoichi looked like, and what she could do. Man I had some crazy ideas in my head. I like how the whole thing unfolded though. Ofcourse after seeing it in the manga it was 100 times better which only solidified it as my fav arc. Such emotion and suspence, and Oro's grand entrance on top of that snake sent chills through my spine. The whole castle crashes down and all he says is "found you".....classic

This rescue arc while being my favorite is also a memorial to my favorite character Kimimaro Kaguya who was shortchanged by Kishimoto who brain farted and killed him off with a cheap disease. Besides that it was a pleasure to watch Gaara's ass handed to him before Kimi died.

After thinking about it, I have to say the Chuunin exam. For one, it introduced Mitarashi Anko and Gaara, and second it gave Sakura some important character development.
