I believe narusaku has a higher chance of happening, due to the way the series is pointing and just logic in general. I forsee a pairing debate in the future of this thread.

It strikes me that Kishimoto is rather uninterested in the female characters of the series, and I'm not convinced that he intends to expand upon this aspect much at all within the series. This is just a guess, but I suspect that Kishimoto would feel uncomfortable fleshing out romantic relationships between his characters. Indeed, almost all of the romantic interests within the storyline have been unrequited and unnoticed, and the one that we have reason to suspect exists and is requited (Asuma and Kurenai) has not been discussed much.

If the Naruto world was to become reality, however, and the future of the world and its characters to depend solely upon the best approximation of what Kishimoto has written of them, I believe Naruto and Sakura would end up dating and perhaps remaining together. Tenten, I would think, is more likely to be involved with Rock Lee than Neji, but I'm not very convinced by either. Temari and Shikamaru is one couple I definitely believe would occur.

Well, not everyone who likes NaruSaku (or any other pairing for that matter) thinks or is even convinced it will actually happen. Some people just like the thought of two characters together.

I sometimes enjoy reading some NaruSaku fanfiction too and I don't think this pairing will ever become canon. I don't see why it should or how it would help the story. Sakura and Naruto have a wonderful friendship, I just like their relationship, be it romantic or not.

Kishi seems not to be interested in the younger cast regarding serious romance. He missed a couple of chances to emphasise on them and develop bonds. I guess he really just isn't interested.

But isn't that a little fickle on her part? Because Sasuke is no longer here, she would just turn her attention to Naruto.
For so many years she's cared about him(Sasuke), and even in-directly said confessed her feeling to him...but it's true, Naruto does care about her, but not in any "love-love" type feelings.

I'm a NaruHina supporter, but I don't mind if Naruto ends up with Sakura, JUST AS LONG AS Hinata doesn't end up with anyone. Hinata is just too cute/cool/everything to end up with anyone besides Naruto.

I feel that the real deciding factor in what will happen is Sasuke. If Sasuke comes back, Sakura will be all over him. A NaruHina and SakuSasu ending seems the most fitting. Sakura loved Sasuke since they were little and Hinata loved Naruto since they were little, there's a connection there. I could go on forever explaining why it's perfect, but I don't want to start a huge argument.

As for everyone else, I really don't care who they end up with :P

I knew as soon as I reread my post that someone would get angry at me for putting Naruto and Sasuke in the crack category >.<. You are right, Naruto and Sasuke does have the most development, all that needs to happen is Naruto and Sasuke turn gay, which is a possibility. I should go back and edit that. Crack can be determined by your interpretation but there is a line, crack is given to the pairings with what most people agree has the least amount of probability happening. Just because you think it wont happen doesnt mean it's crack yet. I honestly dont consider SasuNaru crack (I made a mistake in my copy pasta) even though I dont think a romantic relationship with them is possible.

No, you have it wrong. Crack pairings are where the romantic interactions are pretty much non-existent or not possible due to a variety of reasons between characters. To say NaruHina is not possible is basically implying that you don't observe what really is going on romantically between the two, most of their interaction is NaruHina based.

The fact that there is a likelihood of success of them hitting it off in the future because there aren't many limiters in terms of character and plot development makes it a normal pairing.

Interesting discussion this has turned into here, but I have to disagree and agree on some parts.

To me, a pairing is a crack pairing when the two characters have never or barely interact and if the pairing actually doesn't make any sense, for example Itachi x Sakura or Shino x Kankurou.

I also call a pairing "crack" if the two characters involved have shown no real affection towards each other and it has no "evidence" and "moments" in canon to actually make one think they could develop something under certain circumstances. Sakura and Sai for example have not shown any affection towards each other, making this pairing a bit of a "crack" candidate.

Sometimes I also call pairings that have a high comedy factor such as DeiTobi crack, but actually DeiTobi is the only Deidara pairing besides SasoDei that makes sense. So no, it's not really a crack pairing either, though you can argue that.

However, SasuNaru on the other hand, is definitely not a crack pairing.

However, it has developed as a brotherly love, not a romantic love. Considering that and the fact that Naruto seems to be not only straight, but also rather homophobic, I consider a romantic Naruto/Sasuke relationship to be crack. I'm not trying to insult or degrade Naruto/Sasuke or yaoi in general, but I just don't see it happening.

Unless the author says specific characters are infact homosexual, all yaoi pairings are crack. Why? because storys work with the basic assumption that all characters are straight. Naruto has twice demonstrated an aversion to homosexuality: Once in the beginning, with his reaction to the Naruto/Sasuke kiss, and a second time during his training with Kakashi, when Naruto misinterpreted what Kakashi meant when Kakashi said he liked Naruto (During chapter 330). Of course, having just hit the refresh button on my browser, someone has already provided a manga scan...

And yes, even if you call it "just a crush", Naruto's infatuation with Sakura is an indication that he is straight. Plus, even if it's primarily meant as teasing now, Naruto asking Sakura on "dates" post time jump continue to indicate that he is, in fact, straight.

Eh, it's overly simplified to boil it down to two groups. You need at least three.

Canon: That which has been concretely established, like Asuma/Kurenai.

Possibly canon: Pairings that haven't been concretely established, but have received development or indication in that direction, like Naruto/Hinata, Naruto/Sakura, Sasuke/Sakura, and Shikamaru/Temari.

Crack: Pairings that have very little or no romantic development or interaction, like Shino/Ino, Gaara/Tsunade, and countless others. Pairings like Naruto/Sasuke also fall into this group, because even though the relationship has received a great deal of development, it has been firmly established as a brotherly relationship and is extremely unlikely to become romantic.

I think he at least had a bit of a point this time. It's indeed romantic interest and not romantic development. Only two people who are in love or start to fall in love have romantic development. Well, so we have not any pairing with real development... a lot of series start a romance with onsided crush, you can see the think like you want, but you cannot say there are not development, because of Kishimoto has dedicated some pages only for that.
I used be an anti-SasuSaku person, because i thought was impossible, but no i've started to see the things on a different way, because the story is not ended yet, and Kishimoto must have good reasons to show us onesided love interests, because is not a shojo. So, for me, i don't need more than a one sided love interest to think could happen in the future. I think like that.

1. I admit, that there are yaoi fangirls, who bring together every single guy who they can, but that's the minority of the SasuNaru fans I guess. Because, for example, I've never liked yaoi pairings, I didn't really care about them, but SasuNaru attracted me from the very first time. No, I didn't think about their intercourses when they were only 12.
2. Most of the people think yaoi pairings are only about hot sex between two guys. But this takes only like 3% of why I like SasuNaru. As many has said, I think too that their relationship is beautiful and unique, whether they are brothers/soulmates/lovers anything.
3. Disagreeing with Dark_wolf247, because I think they were (are) the closest to canon pairing. Even though I think it will never take place in the manga. But that's okay, I'll keep loving SasuNaru anyway.

And just to clear this up for once and all: SasuNaru is NOT yaoi unless you draw or write it R to NC-17 rated.

What has happened to the term shounen ai ? Sasuke and Naruto holding hands on a picture is not yaoi. If you think it is, then you have no idea of what yaoi means. If you are disgusted by yaoi I can understand that but SasuNaru =/= yaoi. Why do so many act like if all that is to SasuNaru was only sex :huh ? It is not, it is just you people who have prejudices that aren't true at all.

Maybe it is because you have read too many hentai doujinshi and jumped at conclusions that all pairings are just about sex because your pairings are mainly featured as sex only matter. If you never have read at least a couple of SasuNaru doujinshi you cannot judge if it's all just about sex or not. How should you ? It is like saying "This food tastes bad !" without ever having eaten it.

I love SasuNaru and believe it will be hinted at as canon and I don't care about what other people may have prejudices towards it. The fandom is huge so it cannot be prevented that there are retards and fangirls. You find that in all other fandoms too. That doesn't mean the whole fandom is like that, remember it.

I think it's simply not supported by the manga. It wouldn't bother me one bit... IF it was actually, written into the story. But it just ain't so. The vast majority of pairings people talk about, het or yaoi or yuri or otherwise, are not supported by the manga, IMO. There simply isn't a focus on romance in Naruto, I don't think. Sure of course there's little tastes here and there (NaruHina, NaruSaku) and there's one truly OVERT case (SakuSasu). Anything other than that is fan-fabrication or, reading into little things too much. Or assuming that platonic love between friends just isn't possible. :P I just don't get the feeling that Kishimoto will ever truly escalate most of these little hints he throws out there.

I think SasuNaru is the only pairing supported by the manga because it actually developed two sided, unlike all the other relationships in Naruto. It is the only pairing in Naruto that actually will become canon to me, just that it happens subtext wise. I have seen dozen of people try to write SasuNaru off as "made up by fans" or "they are just friends" or "you see things that aren't there" but it cannot be that a pairing gets such a large fanbase out of nothing. And Sasuke alone speaks for himself.

The evidence is definitely there and everyone who can't deal with it just tries to shove said evidence aside. Those people say that SasuNaru fans are in denial while being in denial, it's funny. I am positive that many (if not all) of those who argue against SasuNaru and even hate it ju
