No omnipotents. For those who don't know about Death Note, the Shinigami from it are invisible to anyone who doesn't have a Death Note, can kill people just by looking at them and writing their name down (their eyes allow them to see anyone's name and natural lifespan, and if they kill someone before their lifespan is up, they get that amount of time added to their own lives), and they can't be killed unless they extend the lives of mortals instead of shortening them. You can shoot them, stab them, or launch a missile at them, but they won't die.

Could any non-omnipotent defeat them?

The only way I see it is if some hot anime chick makes him fall in love and then dies when something attacks her.

But question, how can "everything" else even know what they are fighting? or if they're fighting at all?

The Flash runs around too fast for them to catch what his name is, kills off everyone else on Earth, then travels into the future to when the Shinigamis' lifespans have run out. Pwned.

Indeed. You can't kill something that isn't technically alive.

Any time traveler with sufficient power could do it too.

Doesn't the Deathnote only kill humans?

But does Flash or similar know what they're up against? That they're fighting at all?

Saint of Killers probably could. You don't have to be omnipotent, just able to kill anything(it's like omnipotence except in a specific field so it's not truly omnipotent)

Actually, the Saint of Killers would NOT be able to kill them, since it's been stated that he cannot kill those who are already dead (this is assuming that Death Note shinigami are considered spirits, instead of divine beings).

It becomes a stalemate when the opponents aren't humans.

If he doesn't know he's fighting then it's not a fight

Way to kill the purpose of the thread
