This FC is dedicated to the pairing of Matsuri & Gaara!

Now, before you think "not another crappy filler character", you should know that filler character Matsuri is pretty much one of Gaara's canon fangirls.

Who the hell is Matsuri? :yell You might ask, the answer is simple, she is one of Gaara's fangirls that eppeared way back in chapter xxx.

What is interestig however, is that she also appeared in last filler arc, from which we learned that her name is Matsuri and that she is a former student of Gaara.

yea, they'll probably show more of her in the rescue gaara arc, since i guess the anime team made her his student instead of just some fangirl.

About her development, I think she's one of the few manga characters to appear so appear much earlier than they're supposed to in the anime and in a filler too which makes it even more interesting. I knew that some fillers always had some importance in helping with the plot in an indirect way and Matsuri proves it.

May Kishi learn something from that Sand arc and make her a more prominent character in the future. In fact just having a few panels featuring her means the artists had put some thought into her significance.

Episodes 136-220 are all fillers. No original storyline.
But the ending of 220, where Naruto says "Watch me" to the Yondaime's Stone Carving, is canon. (manga storyline)

Btw, I agree with the person who commented about Matsuri's fashion sense in the second fanart. I loved her outfit before Shippuden and her current outfit ain't too shabby, either. She looks army cool!

It was really easy to spot her in that scene in Episode 17, since everyone around her (except Temari) was wearing turbans and pants. And then you see Matsuri sticking out like a sore thumb in her skirt, uncovered hair, and that forehead protector around her neck...ahh, good times.

I hope Kishimoto does write that relationship into the manga. It's the only thing from the fillers that is worth taking from semicanonical to actual canon (well that whole last arc- because unlike the rest of the fillers that arc actually worked with story canon. The villians were so stupid, but the rest was good.) I really want to see Temari, Kankuro, Gaara and Matsuri :) again. I wish that crew would be the ones to kill Deidara.

I think I've read that Konoha University thing once when I was googling Gaara/Matsuri. It was still awesomeness reading it again!

Yeah, Maaya Sakamoto is quite well-known in Japan and she has a really nice voice. I looked on her Wikipedia page and she also did some roles in popular animes like Death Note, Final Fantasy (VII Advent Children), Gundam SEED Destiny, Ouran High School Host Club, Tsubasa Chronicle, .hack//Legend of the Twilight and //SIGN, and of course, NARUTO!!! :yell :yell

Well, what's Matsuri's personality like? I know little about her...

Since she's only in about one page of the manga, I'd say, based on her words and actions, that she's a person who might get sidetracked by the little things, but when it comes down to serious matters, she'll have her heart set and there'll be nothing you can do to change her mind. I think Matsuri is a compassionate person. She's also someone who cares and loves many people, and has many people who love her (cough cough GAARA cough cough). Judging from the anime so far (even though her bits there are technically filler), Matsuri seems like a person who can project her emotions freely. I think she's also not afraid to speak up for what she believes is right.
