and yay! Matsuri appeared 2 times! ^^ even if it wasn't her fer REAL or anything; I think first time was in Naru's dream(lolz, Mats in a little towel ^^), and then a second time in the bonus at the end.

Damn it, Gaara, stop trying to be so strong. Please collapse into Matsuri's open arms and sigh with relief at being alive again. XD But seriously, I figure he wanted to stand up by himself and be able to face his villagers with pride and dignity. I mean, he got kidnapped and killed, and then magically got brought back to life in just a few days. He probably wants to be worthy of her sacrifice, so he has to push himself to prove that he is still strong, he is still their Kazekage, and he can still protect Suna.

...Okay, that was a little too much overanalyzation on my part. XD Sorry for the tl;dr, heh...

Yep, that's from episode 31. God, Matsuri looked so cute - her face absolutely exploded in happiness when Gaara nodded at her to indicate he was all right. ^_^ It made the fangirl in me squeal with joy.

Nah, I don't think so. Just try to see the situation from her perspective: someone that she obviously reveres and cares very much about was thought to be dead, but then it turns out he's not. Her reaction shows us how important Gaara is to her. Remember when Sakura cried hysterically upon thinking that Sasuke had died? Matsuri's reaction is a little similar, albeit less aggravating, IMO. So she had a fangirl moment - at least it was appropriate, given the situation.

Now, if we see other episodes where Matsuri is fangirling and squealing excitedly over Gaara like, all the time, then something is seriously wrong there. It's also possible that she's going through the stage where she sees Gaara as a handsome and dashing hero whose heart she hopes to capture. Every young kunoichi in Naruto has had a fangirl moment at some point in time, so I'm not surprised to see Matsuri doing the same. We just hope that she grows out of it, of course. Gaara would likely prefer her to act more maturely around him rather than having her worship the ground he walks on. ^^0

I always write Matsuri as being more serious, truer to her personality from the last filler arc in Part I, rather than the way she acts in episode 31 of Shippuden. But was that one fangirl moment really so bad? I mean, in the other episodes of Shippuden, when she was expressing concern over Gaara, she seemed very serious and mature during those tense times. I think it's safe to say that she's still a nice, polite, refined young lady, with the occasional rough-and-ready Temari kind of attitude. :) I mean, we all still love her, right? ^_^

Nee, that does make sense. What prompted me to say that was Kishi's lack of depth and willingness to tweak characters (not to mention he's a super-sexist). I tend to write Matsuri-chan as a girl who tries her best to make Gaara proud, as well as being a confidant for him But she seems to end up just being downright bratty and annoying little sister-ish to Kankurou. I figure that the Sand Sibs sorta adopted her (she's the foster sister in my AU stuff) so she'd find a niche bugging the child hater. :amuse

I left the actual thing I write it in @ my dojo, but I'll get it back Wed. and finish typing Chaptre 2. :D Matsuri and Gaara don't come in for a little while, so I'll give youse guyses the link to the first Chaptre and then post again at the Suna arrivals. The first is a 16 years old genin called Ittetsu. His profile says: "A genin of the Sand village who admires the Kazekage from the depth of his heart. When the latter came back to life he was relieved and cried tears of joy."
The second one is a 15 years old genin called Sari. "A kunoichi of the Sand village. She loves the Kazekage more than anyone else, admires him and is ready to risk her life to save him."
The third one is a 17 years old genin called Matsuri. "A kunoichi of the Sand village who is friends with Sari. She loves élites and admires the Kazekage; she would take into consideration no other man."

I do believe that the anime team gave her a back story but I'm pretty sure it was Kishi who gave her the name. And also, she was introduced in the manga before she was introduced in the anime. So I'm pretty sure kishi already had her stats before the anime team brought her out:(

I just got the new Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 4 game, and Matsuri is in it! <3 She's distinctive because of her looks, and the fact that she is the only one who doesn't refer to Gaara as "Lord Kazekage." :D Unfortunately, her label is "Sand Chunin" instead of her name, but it's kind of obvious that it's her. :3
