I am currently on episode 283 of OP and im still amzed after so many episodes they can keep the anime so fresh and still get you to feel for all of the charecters and there plites.

Naruto kinda did it for me, but no where as much as OP has, I think the only other anime that has gotten me to like it so much was Ranma 1/2.

So the question is In your opinon what makes OP so amazing to watch and to read.

Its long, about pirates and has strange art.

It is very unconventional.

Great characters, epic adventures, and badass fights. Seriously, what more could you ask for from a Shonen Manga?

I agree but it feels liek there is something more in it. Kind of like a real bond you see between your friends, only it is portrayed in a anime.

Strong character development. Emotional attachment is key.

Very true, another thing I absolutely love about One Piece. In fact, that seems to be the thing these days. All 3 of the Shonen Trinity have those, which is one of the main reasons I love all 3 :amuse.

The epicness of the story, the brilliant characters, wonderful art, brilliant humour and specific to the anime: the music and animation.

I have got to say the humour is one of the main reasons. Also the characters are well developed, and it benefits from an extremely strong main character, who is my favourite manga character.
Also I like the way that although there is a main plot undercurrent, with things slowly moving on their, there is also scope to bring in new villains due to the set up of the series, in that they go to various islands.

I think it's the characters more than anything for me. I got attached to them and their personal dreams/journeys early on, so I can't help but want to follow through with them to the end. The way the story becomes so epic certainlly helps too. There's a lot of things that are hinted at in the beginning that I am still waiting to happen, like the Strawhats finally meeting up with the Redhair pirates. And what exactly is the deal with Tashigi looking like Kuina anyway, and what part will she play in Zoro's dream of being swordsman?

Why is one piece so great? Because it brings out the inner child of everyone who watches it. Its made by a guy who still has the imagination of a 6 year old, but the writing skills of any other great writers out there. It takes all the elements that makes a Shonen series great, and does them all exceptionally well - it has drama, emotion, humor, great action and just simple story telling at its best, but most of all, its fun. I mean, how can you not fall in love with this series?

What makes it so amazing is that it sucks, yet so many people watch it. truly amazing.

Well, I like the premise of super powered Pirates which isn't done a whole lot in manga. Also, the OP storyline is a little bit deeper than most shonen of it's type.

That brings up anotehr point why i think OP is so great. There arn't to many shows out there that have done this well using the theme of pirates. It stays true to the theme but add's more into it.

the zaniness, and the fact that its basically just fun. it doesn't take itself that seriously, and thats refreshing.

It's because Oda isn't afraid to experiment a little, and to add wild twists to the story.

Although people don't often die, that is not a particular problem in my opinion.

Uh, not really, but that's part of it. The scope of the story seems so large, and their actions have very widespread consequences. They stop a giant civil war and save hundreds of thousands of Alabasta citizens, journey to an island in the sky and stop its destruction, and they ride a sea train to a floating island fortress to save a crewmate.

Each land they travel to is very unique and has its own interesting stories in it.

The fertility of Oda's mind, the humour, each character's personal demons and dreams, and the frequent doses of absurdity. Also, the premise of the show is still very much the same. I also enjoy how all the characters are very one-dimensional on the surface, but in reality are almost always complex.

What makes it so amazing is that it sucks

Dude if you came to bash here in the One Piece again then get the fuck outta of here

Anyways what makes One Piece so great is that Oda he was born with talent like Kishimoto and Tobi and who doesn't like pirates.

Yeah, but with some of the more popular anime, fans will repost it. I mean, imagine if Naruto or Bleach were also deleted. I'm sure someone would go out of their way to repost it.

The characters that is like real friends.

The plot twists that surprises you everytime. Example. The Vearth in Skypiea that was a part of Jaya.

The emotional story.

The epic feel of the world and its storyline combined with Oda being capable of coming up with great ideas to fill it with.

The world that encompasses OP. It doesn't feel like the story takes place in a small isolated area or a few sets of small areas. It comes off as being grand.

A few things for me

Character development

Not only the main characters but the sub characters get a lot of detail added too

Length

I'm a fan of long (in OP standards very long) animes keep you coming back.

Some of my all time favorite animes being Eureka 7 and Cowboy bebop have been short which gives a sense of disapointment when they are over. OP just seems to carry on forever.

Fights

Devil fruit gives you countless methods of fighting and every battle is unique in a sense the only ability I like more than DF is Nen from the Hunter x Hunter series

Story

Oda is nigh on untouchable for telling a good story and keeping it intreasting a long the way

Comedy

Can you think of many animes that have the humour of One Piece ?

Theme

One Piece is all about humour and freinds/Nakama yet it has a lot of serious moments in the right places too ie water 7 (awesome)

That about covers it for me
