I'm sitting here in my lonely room, listeing to old OP endings Run Run Run! and reminiscing about the good times during summer when I discovered OP.
During that time it was truly great, probably the best show I've ever seen besides Seinfeld. I still love the main characters imo Franky and Robin arent main characters, only uselss and boring but the show really changed after Alabasta.
Everything felt so dragged out, and not so original anymore. At one point OP really was the greatest manga (and anime) ever created, but now it feels like Naruto:(
I dont know what happened, but I miss my old One Piece :( Please come back.

Well, read the manga to the recent chapter and you'll have originality for years.

Personally, I feel the other way round.
For me, everything picked up after the Alabasta Arc. I really did not enjoy that arc, abandoning the series around ep 118.
It picked up for me at the start of the whole SkyPeia story.
I don't know what you call original, but the ideas, concepts and ways of story telling for One Piece are all completely unlike any other Shonen Series I can think of.
I think you just expect too much really. A shonen weekly show will often whither slightly because it reaches the point beyond where the mangaka first planned, but nonetheless the story is still excellent and for me, much more enjoyable.
Maybe it feels dragged out because you've been watching the latest One Piece episodes? The anime is really close to the manga, so that's why they've been dragging things out there lately. Although I still enjoy it.
Otherwise if you're a manga reader, I don't know what you're talking about. You should be able to tell from the posts above me, but I'll say it anyway. Most One Piece fans think that One Piece is at its best right now, and so do I.
Also, Franky and Robin are important characters now, even if you don't like it. XD

How far are you into OP?
Believe me...the inhumane villains and hairpin turns in the plot are still around...JUST KEEP WATCHING!

Judging from the first sentence you wrote, I guess you are watching anime, right?
In that case I suggest you to read the manga and trash the anime. I practically never like animes based on mangas.
But if OP still doesn't feel right anymore after Arabasta, then I would say, you don't seem to enjoy series which are running for a real long time, only to an extent....?

YOu watched 130 episodes of a boring anime? Why?
I have read the manga, all chapter up to 442. Maybe I expect to much as you people say, Because when I started reading and watching OP it was something totally fresh and original. The drawings were awesome! And the storyline was great and emotional.
But to me now, it all seems dragged out and boring. I dont know why :(

I read the manga. I never start a show by watching the anime. I heard it gets better, so i kept reading. Then, it got interesting at Alabasta arc, then it got even more interesting when enel came around. Now, oda's just dragging it out too long

Maybe cuz you have to wait a week for another chapter to come, or this is what i did with fairy tail i stopped reading it until it got more chapter and get me entertained.
The drawing are way better than they where o the beginning ^^
Or maybe rewatched it again? o_o one of your favorites episodes, sometimes i do that xp

This thread has been off topic for a little bit now... and I get the feeling there is a topic like this...
I think One Piece is still original and good- I've never really focused on how emotional it is so I don't know about that though. I mean tell me of an anime that tells of pirates:
- Shooting up into the sky and sailing on clouds
- Fighting an sort-of-evil 'God'
- Sails down using an octopus
- Fighting against a giraffe man
- having an enemy called Spandex
- And much more ( I haven't exactly read the water 7 arc completely through yet...)
I don't think that the word you're looking for is unoriginal. But I sort of understand how you feel about it sometimes!

I don't know but ever since i got to the latest arcs, especially water 7/enies lobby and after that, things really went uphill for me.
I just hope the only time it does downhill is when One Piece finishes its story altogether and its downhill ONLY BECAUSE it's finished and there's no more "1 week" to look forward to.

th reason you think this silly old way is cuz the arcs are SO lnog...now, at this rate, they'll takea over a year to finish them, and that's too long.....

i loved one piece because its my first anime to feature a pirate chef...sanji really is my idol...way to go...as long as sanji is in one piece, its still cool...:)
Alabasta was superb
Water 7 and EL arc overtook it though

The manga really took me away from liking the show as much as I did. The Manga is so much better and doesnt drag out.
