NEW YORK(AP) Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton embarked on a widely anticipated campaign for the White House on Saturday, a former first lady intent on becoming the first female president. "I'm in and I'm in to win," she said on her Web site.
Clinton's announcement, days after Sen. Barack Obama shook up the contest race with his bid to become the first black president, establishes the most diverse political field ever.
Clinton is considered the front-runner, with Obama and 2004 vice presidential nominee John Edwards top contenders. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who would be the first Hispanic president, intends to announce his plans on Sunday.
"You know after six years of George Bush, it is time to renew the promise of America," Clinton says in a videotaped message in which she invites voters to begin a dialogue with her on the major issues _ health care, Social Security and Medicare, and the war in Iraq.
"I'm not just starting a campaign, though, I'm beginning a conversation with you, with America," she said. "Let's talk. Let's chat. The conversation in Washington has been just a little one-sided lately, don't you think?"
Clinton, who was re-elected to a second term last November, said she will spend the next two years "doing everything in my power to limit the damage George W. Bush can do. But only a new president will be able to undo Bush's mistakes and restore our hope and optimism."
In a defiant statement _ and a nod to questions about her electability _ Clinton said: "I have never been afraid to stand up for what I believe in or to face down the Republican machine. After nearly $70 million spent against my campaigns in New York and two landslide wins, I can say I know how Washington Republicans think, how they operate, and how to beat them."
Who didn't see this coming though I hope she doesn't win.

Yeah, statements like those are whats goin to cost her the election. What would make this even more ironic is if she lost to a republican.

and that's the reason I don't want her to win, she seem's like she has a few vendetta's against some politicians, which might distract her duty to her country and the world.

I'm trying so hard to hold back remarks that may seem sexiest.:mad
But I have a feeling that if she wins, she will go after some politicians.

true, and considering the fact I'm enlisting when I graduate, I don't really want to see her being the commander in chief; off-topic, IMO Iraq could be dealt with if the politicians didn't get involved and just let the generals do their job over there, personally I'm worried how Iraq might turn out with her running it; I'd rather see Obama or Gulianee run it.

Well, I'm not going to judge her yet since her big-daddy may be running her actions.
Off topic: Well depending on when you graduate Bush may be your CIC, but if you want to go over I won't try to stop you. I am general of my ROTC, so if I was to enlist I'd be second to Captain rank. But I'm enlisting in a college.

If Hillary Clinton has any chance of winning the Presidency, then Obama would have a better chance. Obama is such a bright person and he would make an excellence President. However, this country is still not mature enough to elect either a woman or a black person to be President.

I'd favor her to win. She's clearly the democratic frontrunner, with her name recognition and Obama's noob status. If she wins the primary, she's probably won the presidency. The backlash against the Republicans after Bush's somewhat wanting performance in Iraq is likely to assure a Democrat president.
Frankly, I'll vote for her simply for the novelty of a female president, it's quite a significant event. I'd vote for Obama for similar reasons if he won - if another cookie-cutter old white man wins, unless McCain runs for the GOP, I'll probably not bother voting... depending on how they address issues relevant to my interests.

funny thing about when they decide who to choose to run for the democratic ticket in the presidential elections:
obama side: you won't vote for me cause I'm black?!
clinton side: you won't vote for me cause I'm a woman?!
IMO, someone's gonna get "offended". xD

Jeb Bush: You won't vote for me because of my Brother.

She isn't a pussy when it comes to foreign policy and Islamic terrorism. That's my primary concern in looking at a candidate given the state of the world these days.

But seriously, she isn't afraid to show her spine, but Obama isn't afraid either.

definetly was.:evil but IMO, she's to strong, strong to the point where she attacked a capitol police officer, and when she lost she didn't want the U.S. to support Israel in the recent Lebanon war (in other words she's crazy)
but if we want to keep it straight, here's who I think she might get caught with.

I wish Clinton would win the election... And chosen first to represent her party, of course. She's a bright woman and I believe her husband did good things for America. I'd let her a chance if I was American :)

It'll be interesting - especially with Obama in the race. I'm not sure how well she'll hold up against another popular Dem because it seems to me that hardly anyone is indifferent about her - people who dislike her seem to think that she is evil incarnate, while people who like her seem to think she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can't see her catching much of the vote from Republicans who are disatisfied with the current neo-con schtick. But Obama just might be able to get some of that vote.

I agree, Obama displays a logical American fairness mantality; the guy only believes in aiding and helping America to get better (So we've seen in his years of power). Republicans may just vote for him over Clinton seeing as Hilary acts as if she has a personal issue with anybody who is republican.

Yeah, thats true. I wouldn't mind voting for Clinton, but the thing is that she might strike some people as too "liberal." And a lot of people hate her for some reason. I think Jerry Falwell said that nothing would energize his base against the Democrats more than Clinton running for president, not even Satan. There might be a bit of truth to that argument. Obama seems to give the impression of fair minded reasonableness, which makes him a bit popular in this age of die-hard ideology and partisanship. I honestly don't know enough about either to make a decision though.
