When you say "If Gaara were to die in front of everyone" I'm assuming you mean in front of other ninja in the Narutoverse, in which case, who ever they see defeat Gaara would be a most feared Ninja. The Kazekage has been sending assassins after Gaara since he was a child and they couldn't even touch. So to see him go down by someone should strike some fear.

But you've already witnessed the Naruto vs Gaara fight. It should be obvious that Sasuke can't defeat him in his Biju state.
