Ichigo was trained to become a Shinigami, and is later recognized by Ukitake with a Shinigami representative with that medal, so I don't see how Ichigo isn't a Shinigami.

Anyways..my favorite Shinigami? Easy...Kuchiki Taichou. Bad-ass asshole.
