Sand Jounin have already tryd to crush Gaara and they failed, so why are a few genin close to a match to him or atleast able to stand theyr ground, well Naruto can cause of the Kyuubi and because Sasuke damaged him a while back... With what we've seen so far, it's fair to say that Kakashi would own Gaara.

Kakashi and Guy-sensei are at about the same level. Guy-sensei was easily able to stop Gaara in a killing rage when he was fighting Lee. Based on that alone you have to give Kakashi the win.

Gaara's beat Lee, gotten beat down by Sasuke, and killed some random chuunin and jonin.

Kakashi's never lost in the dub so far, although he was pretty scared of Orochimaru.

Kakashi. As others have said comparing Jonin to a Gennin is dumb. Calling out Garra's demon is equely dumb. Garra can't bring that that out all the time. He would have to control it and stop it from coming out. Its mass colateral damage is not something you bring to a one on one fight. Still a short analyisis.

Kakashi is bascially sasuke who is 5-6x faster, knows about a hundred more jutsus, has ALOT more combat experience(the only time Sasuke was in a life threatening situation was against Haku and Oro. Kakashi fought in a freaking war and has completed ALOT of A ranked missions. Plus, he's been in ANBU), and can use the sharingan to the best he can ATM(which is far better than Sasuke, due to 3-tomoe sharingan instead of 2).

I think Gaara would win. Something tells me Kakashi would run out of chakra soon after the fight begins....I'm sure Gaara's sand would have Kakashi on the run quite often. I doubt he has the kind of speed that Lee and Sasuke demonstrated before, so getting up close and personal would be out of the question for him. Yeah, he'd have to rely on the power of his Chidori. And even then, there's no guarantee that it'd totally penetrate through his sand armor. He is faster than Gaara, though. He may surprise us.

What needs to be remembered is that Kakashi is a elite jounin, with the power of the sharingan eye. What also needs to be remembered is that Garra of the Sand is the container of shinkaku ( bad spelling ) . Both are extremely powerful and skillful, however only one could win and that would b garra simply because he could outlast kakashi. Sasuke proved taht the chidori could go through garra's defense, but almost lost his arm because of that. It wouldnt take long for garra to go beserk against kakashi and I doubt that kakashi could summon a Giant dog to fight off shinkaku.

You must have forgotten a Chuunin level Sasuke knocked him out cold for quite a while and Temari + Kankurou had to provide time for him to awaken.

Kakashi is an elite Jounin, and has most likely faced foes much more troublesome than a genin like Gaara.

A 3 tomoe Sharingan + a high enough rank Suiton would bring him down in a curbstomp. I'm trying my hardest not to spoil because this is the dub battledome, so that's all I have really. :tem

Just because something is proven in a filler doesn't mean it didn't happen. Anyway, it is common knowledge that if you put water in sand, the sand becomes heavy. Thus, Gaara's sand speed would be a lot slower.

You are over exaggerating about 75%. First of all, I doubt that Gai would let Kakashi do all of his 50% (because they take turns choosing the fight) as rock ,paper, scissors. Second, all of Gai's choices (50%) would be fights or contests of physical strength or something. Oh, I also forgot Kakashi's training. He is climbing a mountain with one hand (the other is tied to a huge rock behind his back). If he can do that, I'm pretty sure that swatting some sand isn't much of a problem.

He can't overuse it, but he can use it for more than enough time than it would take to beat a Genin with the power of a very very low Jonin. First of all, Gaara doesn't want the Shukaku to control him anymore. Second, even if Gaara thought that he might need to bring out Shukaku, that would give Kakashi more than enough time to ram him with 2 or 3 Chidoris (right to the head or chest if he wants). Or, he could just make enough of an opening that his dogs can go in and grab Gaara's arms (without his arms he can't keep up his jutsu and bring out Shukaku) then 1 Chidori for the kill. :amuse

You are right about Sasuke getting pwned, but Kakashi is in a whole other league. If you are talking about Kakashi's body not being able to take it, that is the worst way to go. Kakashi easily has enough endurance and stamina to finish Gaara. All he has to do is Water Vortex Jutsu or any water jutsu and then Chidori while Gaara is slowed down. Even if Gaara tries to unleash the Shukakku, Kakashi can easily penetrate Gaara's sand ball and stab him a few times before Shukaku has a chance to come out. If the Shukakku somehow fully comes out before Kakashi can do any damage (which wouldn't happen), then Shukakku would win. But, that isn't Gaara. It is Shukakku.

Anyway, I'm not comparing Kakashi to Sasuke. I know that Gaara would have kicked Sasuke's ass if Naruto hadn't come to save him. But, Gaara still doesn't stand a chance against Kakashi. First, there is the water vs. sand thing. Gaara's chakra that is in the sand can't stop it from getting wet (which would make it heavy). His sand can be attacked like normal sand, he just has control of it and he can make it harden. And, I'm almost 100% sure that Kakashi can swat away Gaara's sand (like Gai did). So, that takes normal Gaara out of it completely. Gaara's only choice to win after that is to unleash Shukaku. While he is trying to unleash it, Kakashi has more than enough time to jab him with a few Chidoris to the head, neck, chest, stomach, lungs, or whatever he feels like. Gaara would have been in big trouble if Sasuke did 1 or 2 more Chidoris. He is as good as defenseless while he is trying to bring out the Shukaku and Kakashi would take full advantage of that.

I dont see anything kakashi can do to escape his desert coffin,-snipped-. even worse if they were fighting on sand, the whole area is controlled by gaara and we know kakashi cant fly ^^.
