Gantz manga question

How much of the manga does the anime cover? I bought both of the series box sets with some christmas money and was interested in reading more.

The anime covers up to the Buddhist Statue arc of the manga, which finishes around chapter 100 I think. The manga is currently at chapter 242.

I believe after episode 20 or so the anime stops following the manga, though. The end of the Gantz anime is basically some pretty poorly written filler.

Know that when you finish the Buddhist statue arc (which definitely starts around 15 or 16) that's where you should start reading the manga.

I think chapter 100 is too far ahead though. If I recall, the Buddha arc ends in the early 90s, I think.
