Ok this one of my most favorite comics.
In fact my fav list goes like this.

Top Cow - The Darkness
Marvel - X-Man/Cable (tie) runner up Ghost Rider
DC - Lobo (gota respect the Boo.)

Any how the art is great. I like the character and certain humorous aspects in The Darkness (especially the lil critters). And although The Darkness is capable of virtually doing anything, you don’t seem him go over bored with his powers (which for me is a good thing, because overpowered characters are boring).

Alter ego Jackie Estacado

Abilities
The power of The Darkness, an ancient unholy power that allows him to create virtually anything, including living , sentient beings, out of darkness. However anything he creates will turn to dust upon exposure to light.

Weaknesses
He is powerless (as in he can not manifest the darkness) in the light.
If he impregnates a women he dies Instantly.

I haven’t seen a single episode. I heard that version of Witchblade is not in continuality (to the comic that is).
But never the less, Witchblade and Excalibur are sibling. The offspring of Angelus and The Darkness.
Since The Darkness and Angelus have much ties in the actual comic, It does not surprise me that it would finally be showed in the anime itself.

Superman/The Darkness - I don’t remember the Jackie mentioning any comments during that crossover. I could be wrong, but unless there is reference to those events, its considered no-cannon. Of the top of my mind, I have to say its non-canon.

Batman/The Darkness - is Cannon (plays a huge rule in the Darkness mythos unfolds).
Wolverine/The Darkness - is non cannon.


The Darkness powers - Think of him as a Green Lantern. Ware the shadows can become anything he wishes. With that said, he holds huge potential. But….there is the sun light or light hindrance. And his powers are limited to how much self knowledge he contains. In theory if he was to gain more knowledge his ability to manipulate the shadow would grow. It was even suggested that he could digest the brains of humans to instantly gain their knowledge and experience.

With that said, Jackie is seen operating on lower power levels. And never did anything to attack Superman at his known weakness. So I am not surprised that Superman outranked Jackie by a margin (though Jackie did outsmart him in the end :evil).

I would not take Superman/The Darkness crossover, mentioning events from Batman/The Darkness crossover. A stone cold evidance, if anything the ongoing series mentioning crossovers and mini makes a much better case.

I believe, the Superman/The Darkness did a vary good interpretation of what would happen if the two met.
But that is left open to personal interpretation and opinion.

Sunlight, and strong lights messes with The Darkness. Believe me walking around with a flash light isn’t going to do you much good.

I believe its in the later issues in volume 2, of the Darkness. I will attempt to locate the exact issue and volume.

I have good news, The ongoing “The Darkness” will gets its own series back.
So be sure to look out for the new The Darkness Volume 3.

there is a major crossover event in Image called First Born.
Witchblande, Angelus, and yes Jackie are involved in this crossover (and many more).

The Darkness second run, was most likely canceled for poor demand/sales.

I've noticed that there is a difference in the depictions of the Darkness between volume 1 and volume 2. In volume 1, they were a lot more humorous while in volume 2 the Darklings were more straight-up horrific. Which version do you prefer?

Tough choice, depends I guess. Volume 1, the humorous darklings.

Currently Spawn has bin severely weaken. But Jacke can compete with Spawn issues 1-50 (First Age).

But The Darkness plays an important Role in Unborn Arc.
