sorry if this has been posted before

In the beginning we were told that naruto failed the graduating exam 3 times or something. But he was in the same class with ino, sasuke, sakura and the rest.
Is he older then them?

Before the chunnin exsam gai said something like holding back his team(lee, tenten and neji) one year so they could prepare them self.
How is that possible, see above

How old was sarutobi, the forth.

In case i am wrong let me know, there is no need to bee rude.

Naruto and the Rookies that graduated with him are 15.

Rock Lee, Neji, Tenten are a year older then them.

he held them back from entering the chuunin exam. which means that they were genin a year more the naruto and his rookie class before they entered the chuunin exam.

Sarutobi Sandaime was 68 at the time of his death.

i always wondered how naruto failed the exam 3 times as well, since he graduated with his proper age people does that mean that they failed 3 times as well or they never took the exam until they were ready?

i guess the best assumption we can make is that Naruto kept taking the exam before he was ready (trying to graduate early like genius such as Itachi and Kakashi) and he failed, while the rest didnt take it till the year they graduated.

thanks
does it say in the manga because it doesn't in the anime, i started reading the manga just before gara and kimmimaru fought. I did not know of the manga before that. I know that sounds stupid but i was introduced to naruto by the anime.

it's in the databook, websites such at narutocentral.com has the ages of all the characters as well. Narutofan.com as well.

This is a minor plot hole that doesn't need explaining anymore as we are 335 chapters into the manga.

The only way i could answer this is that naruto took the exam with in a short time every week after failing instead of every year.

I still don't understand why people say it's a plot hole, I mean we have characters completing the exam at like 7 (isn't that how old Itachi was?). They way I figure it you can take the exam whenever you want to, kinda like how you can graduate high school at 15 if your smart enough. Of course Naruto wouldn't be smart enough to do it, but he is head-strong enough to try.

The characters graduating at 7 showed exceptional talent so they could take and pass the exam at young ages. Naruto probably did not show exceptional talent so I don't think he was allowed to participate at a younger age.
