Assuming that "the average american male" is to be taken as literal, and is not referring to some hero I've never heard of, I'd say Octopus. He may not be much, but he is still smarter then the average person, and those "tentacles" can do some damage.

well, it depends what the a.a.m. is armed with. if he had a machine gun, i'm sure he would win. a shotgun would work too but i'm not sure if a pistol would.
