Quite a few members spend a good chunk of their day on NF, which gets in the way of their studying.
A homewok section to help middle and high school students will booste the activity time of several members and dissolving the notion of guilt when procrastinating.

calling the staff morons won't help you....D:

so you are suggesting a place for people to study a variety of subjects?...or what exactly?....people come on NF and procrastinate because, most likely, they find what they are doing rather boring. Why be in a subforum to go over issues they already feel are boring thus why they are procrastinating when they have many fun places to enjoy their time. If they feel guilty for not studying...then they should just log off and study....it's really not that hard to turn off a computer and if it's a forum addiction...nothing is stopping them from requesting a ban.

The subforum won't accomplish the goal you want it to.

It's more likely to turn into "can you help me with a problem" or "can you do my homework for me"

and even if that is the intention of the subforum...you would be assuming that people can/would actually help with problems....it's more likely to be spammed with "lol I don't know" and other messages like that.

and you would also be assuming that people can actually convey their problem....

procrastination happens amongst college students...considering how a college schedule is set up...and I doubt most people would be able to help with most of those problems.

Not to mention you'll get threads like "can someone write my paper for me" also assuming that most procrastination comes from doing english or some form of research paper.

activity time will boost when the naruto fillers end this spring...:nuts

It was supposed to be a joke like haha D:

so you are suggesting a place for people to study a variety of subjects?...or what exactly?....
Yes exactly that. With high school maths, chem, bio, history or anything really, the uni level people here will find it relatively easy to guide or help the person while also brushing up on the basics and past material again. This is not a 'we'll do your homework for you' forum, but a semi-scholarly help forum.

people come on NF and procrastinate because, most likely, they find what they are doing rather boring.
And as a result, they either procrastinate all day leaving their work undone - which will result in them getting into trouble and not repeating the same mistake (staying away from nf) or cut their activity time short in order to go study.
As an official figure, endorsing NF as a 'lifestyle' should be implicitly evident in you're attitude, and so, boosting activity (higher than it already is) is a plus.

Why be in a subforum to go over issues they already feel are boring thus why they are procrastinating when they have many fun places to enjoy their time.
See that's the thing, would you rather learn about *insert hard topic* in an environment you love or a place you feel neutral towards or cannot entirely relate to? The age difference between me and the person who will ask for help will be small, meaning that we can 'understand' each other better... (silly example: owned instead of occupied).

If they feel guilty for not studying...then they should just log off and study....it's really not that hard to turn off a computer and if it's a forum addiction...nothing is stopping them from requesting a ban.
Which is why I think these members that procrastinate on NF with some guilt on their conscience can rest at ease knowing that this 'disturbing' entity can actually help.

The subforum won't accomplish the goal you want it to.

Even if these threadds are started, the individuals reponding will only offer only help. If some random member decides to do the homwork for another, then by all means.

and even if that is the intention of the subforum...you would be assuming that people can/would actually help with problems....it's more likely to be spammed with "lol I don't know" and other messages like that.
you have to give more credit to the members than that. Of course there will be the random newb with the 'i don't know lol!' but if maintaind properly like any other forum on nf, this won't happen.

and you would also be assuming that people can actually convey their problem....
why wouldn't they be able to do so?

procrastination happens amongst college students...considering how a college schedule is set up...and I doubt most people would be able to help with most of those problems.
yes, this is why i spend a my spare time here, and if some one asks me of somthing i am informed of, i would not mind helping. Displays of 'knowledge' can be seen in many places in the philosophical and debate sections. The willingness to help is there.

Not to mention you'll get threads like "can someone write my paper for me" also assuming that most procrastination comes from doing english or some form of research paper.
you already mentioned this

activity time will boost when the naruto fillers end this spring...:iguzo

my response was a joke as well....I rarely use "D:" in a serious manner.

I still feel that it would still turn into "help me with this problem" or "do my homework for me" type of thing.

And as a result, they either procrastinate all day leaving their work undone - which will result in them getting into trouble and not repeating the same mistake (staying away from nf) or cut their activity time short in order to go study.

NF as a lifestyle?......it's a forum...to have fun...hardly something as revolutionary as a "lifestyle"....it wastes life...D:

See that's the thing, would you rather learn about *insert hard topic* in an environment you love or a place you feel neutral towards or cannot entirely relate to? The age difference between me and the person who will ask for help will be small, meaning that we can 'understand' each other better... (silly example: owned instead of occupied).

if I come on the forum...it would be to do something fun...not to learn...though I find fun in learning...I'm an exception.

I may find the forum environment fun....but I also see it as a place to get away from the topics. Members would be too tempted to visit the other parts of teh forum if they log in instead of discussing a topic that they logged on the forum to get away from.

Which is why I think these members that procrastinate on NF with some guilt on their conscience can rest at ease knowing that this 'disturbing' entity can actually help.

they would still have to take the time away from the forum to actually do their work.

It's a noble cause of what you are trying to accomplish...but I sadly see it turning into what you are saying it won't turn into....people asking for people to do their homework.

Also...you are assuming that that the people who respond would know what they are talking about. Would you rather read the text book and get the for sure answer...or have a bunch of people on a forum...each with their own answer confusing the hell out of you? Members will eventually still read the text book to verify what the members are saying...it just seems as if they would be wasting their time listening to a bunch of people give them an answer that they would still have to verify.

I still think that most procrastination comes more from writing papers instead of actual studying.

there've been a few people ask for help with studies in the past. Might work if it's clear not to ask for someone to do the work for you

The problem with such a thread is that people'd ignore it completely anyway. :/
