Yea this chapter is cool as hell.. it looks like konoha 8 is about to see some action, well i think half of them will split up or just leave shino behind. im still waitin for the correct translations but i dont want to say ne thing yet. but pein admitted that he woulda loss to the j-man if he knew his secret.. i guess that may shut a lot of ppl up on these forums talkn bout pein didnt even break a sweat. and it seems that pein is takin orders from madara so i guess this get rid of any obito = tobi theorys.. also it seems that zetsu knows tobi is madara? and knows tobi is powerful.. o and i dont think zetsu is goin to fight anyyyy time soon.. not that i really cared though.. and i dont know if j-man is dead and gone i think tsundae has chance to come and save him

I thought that because his body was not destroyed and that he uses frogs who lived in water, would mean that he was still alive somehow. However, too many sentiments/hints that confirms his death were given. His flashbacks, talking about Naruto taking over, willing himself back to life for a short period, sending Pa frog to escape, finding out that he was the godfather of Naruto, and being very close to Naruto.

J-Man, you would be miss, I wonder how I would handle when this part of the manga is animated? Think I would shed a few manly tears. The sad music that is given as well makes you want to cry

Well, I think we're seeing a more mature naruto from the latest chapter....

I hope some revelations happen with the elder frog because naruto doesn't seem like he's strong enough to take on pein or madara right now. I think now that Jiraiya has gone, we'll see Naruto bust a few new jutsus out, hopefully stuff Jiraiya taught him. If not, he needs some way to improve because currently it just doesn't seem plausable for him to hang with the top tier or akatsuki. Also, we need to know more about this whole thing that minato knew something and entrusted naruto with the kyuubi. should be interesting.

I made a topic asking them why they are being hypocritical as far as not begging for Pein to die in revenge like they did to Hidan when Asuma died.

And some of them said it's because they don't like Jiraiya, and others blamed Jiraiya's death on himself, saying he had no right to go to Pein's country.

The topic has been deleted because I talked about my impending suicide in it, but I just thought you should know how people really feel about Jiraiya.

Personally, I thought Jiraiya was fun and I care much more that he died than I ever did that Asuma died. At least Jiraiya added something to the manga.

As cool as Asuma is and how much more I wanted to see him in action, his death really- really did make sense. Shikamaru has the skill, the smarts, and the power to become one of the greatest, but he just lacked any real motivation... everything was meaningless to him and, in a way, he really did depend on others since he was just so bloody lazy. Asuma's death rocketed Shikamaru to new heights that probably weren't possible for his character otherwise. I also think it's cool that Shikamaru "inherited" Asuma's trench knives, I wonder if he's gonna use them with the same skill as Asuma?

But while people argue in favor of it, I honestly see no reason for Jiraiya to die for Naruto to "mature" or become "motivated." Naruto's life has been full of hardships, but he's always going to be optimistic and kinda naive, that's how he has remained a good person and influences others... do people think the only way he's gonna "mature" is if he stops being himself? And while talking about maturing, I don't know if people have noticed but Naruto is not nearly as hyperactive in part 2 as he was in part 1, he's thinking alot more before he speaks or acts. Anyway, I also don't see how Jiraiya dying is going to "motivate" Naruto. It's his motivation and sheer willpower that has pushed Naruto through the series, his unstoppable desire to protect those he loves and become the greatest Hokage. Without his self motivation, he would had died in every one of his fights... and he never would had learned the Rasengan or developed the Rasenshuriken. Learning those techniques took a heavy toll on him, put him through so much pain, but he managed to learn techniques in days that typically require years!

So as I conclude, Jiraiya had a shallow and meaningless death, he chose to die when he was able to deliver the information himself...and the fight was lackluster too, the most epic part of it was Jiraiya's apparent sacrifice.

I personally don't think "revenge" is really required, Pein's one of the numero uno bad guys and so his death is almost guaranteed. And I find it funny that people think that Jiraiya had no right to go into Pein's village... there's a guy who's systematically murdering people so that he can destroy 2/3rd's of the world! He's going to kill your friends, your family, everyone you have ever known or will ever know... and more than likely going to kill you too... but Jiraiya shouldn't had trespassed?

So far there's alot of controversy and there are alot of people that think the transcript is fake since it's just word of mouth... I don't think it's real because it sounds very unprofessional, almost like some kid made it up.

And the question is, why should I care what other people think? I like what I like and I think what I think. People here like Jiraiya and obviously care about his character. I adored Jiraiya, but do I want revenge? No, but I expect it to happen anyway. I don't mind that other people don't want vengeance because such a thing can feel hollow, a murder for a murder. I understand if some want it, but I'm fine with either. After all, if people in real life decide to not go after the killer of their loved one, who am I to expect all fictional characters to do the same?

That's one thing, sure, but I also thought it was strange that Naruto's gonna be pushed to the side even though he's currently fighting Tobi, Pein's coming after him, and he still has to deal with the key, and the news of Jiraiya's "death." And then he basically said that Team Hebi were basically paper weights until he was forced to put them in action? Then it was just cruel the way he announced Jiraiya's demise. I don't know, sounds like made-up stuff.

Hi FC, just thought I'd drop in to say Merry Christmas (Deimas, as I nicknamed it.:amuse).

I didn't like that interview with Kishimoto at all, it really upset me that he called what Shikamaru did to Hidan as "growing up", because to me it was just plain cruelty, and vengeance and if Kishi is for vengeance, fine, but then don't go and say it's wrong for anyone else to want revenge. That makes it appear that other deaths (Uchiha clan, Jiraiya) aren't important and only Asuma's deserved revenge. Or it makes it look like Shikamaru isn't expected to be held to the same standards others are, or that Hidan deserves punishment for killing but no one else does.

It also really bothered me that he apparently sees Hidan as nothing more than a prop to Shikamaru.

The girl who went talked to him and he also said re: Akatsuki's past that he hasn't even thought of their pasts, and will only tell them in a Gaiden IF he tells them at all....

That's part of why I got so depressed.

It was pretty much what set me off. The main reason being that had I known she was going, I'd have asked her to tell Kishi how sad I am about Hidan's fate, and at least he'd know one person really was sad. So I feel like I let Hidan down, that I missed her post telling she was going (in the Dei FC she told).
I like the new Jiraiya icon, btw.

It was pointless because there was no logical reason for Jiraiya to have to leave his sanctuary to go see the faces of 5 people (again) that he already knows personally. I honestly can't fathom how seeing them would allow Jiraiya to figure out Pein's identity... and if he just wanted to see them, why did he sneak around undetected only to attack them? Even if he did kill one he's smart enough to know that the other 4 will automatically know exactly where he is... but as we know, he failed and they found him.
And these "revelations" also make Jiraiya look like a forgetful jerk too. He knew of Naruto, he named him and he's even his godfather... but he didn't recognize Naruto 3 years ago when they first met? The face? The Name? Jiraiya knew that Minato sealed the Kyuubi in Naruto... so where was he in Naruto's life? And why did Jiraiya think he should be relentless like Naruto and Minato when they get it from Jiraiya?

The fight itself was wholly disappointing. A fight between the gallant Jiraiya and the poster child of Akatsuki should had been alot more epic, but it was orchestrated just for Jiraiya to lose. Jiraiya used Hermit Mode which boosted his strength and speed, but Kishimoto seemed to have forgot about that after Jiraiya destroyed the giant yak summon and field-goaled one of Pein's bodies... unless Pein is as fast and strong as Jiraiya in Hermit Mode?! Then when Jiraiya lost one of his arms and became helpless... being armless didn't stop Zabuza, Orochimaru, or Deidara, why would it halter the great Jiraiya?

I will say Jiraiya's "death" scene was very emotional and heart-breaking, to think that Jiraiya has basically made all the wrong choices in his life... all of the Sannin have.

Kishimoto's art has gotten much better, but his writing is starting to get sloppy. At least he did one thing right though, he said in fine print Jiraiya > Pein!

P.S. JIRAIYA BETTER RETURN!

Which he could had more than been able to tell Naruto himself.
And I can think of a better, more honorable and tear-jerking death... killing all six of Pein's bodies, only then could I understand Jiraiya's depressing and gruesome end... fighting all six of Pein's bodies on his own and not stopping until they were all perma-killed would had been the absolute coolest death and probably battle in the entire series. Then before his last breath he'd have Ma and Pa go tell Tsunade about Akatsuki's plans so they can stop the remaining members. It would still also seem like a pointless death because he wouldn't had killed the true mastermind, but it would had literally meant the world to Jiraiya... and he'd die smiling.

I understand that you think it was pretty pointless for j-man to go back to reface the 5 peins when he already realized he faced them b4. but if u look at the text close enough even though he faced them b4 he still had NO CLUE on what the hell was goin on. he thought that each of them had the rinnegan and that it should be impossible. but right b4 his throat was slash he had a revelation.. his expression lit up and finally he FOUND the answer.. could he had got the information by staying in the barrier? thats something we will never know. also.. re read chapters 370 to the current. this is pretty much where the j-man and pein battle started... read it withought stopping and ill guarantee you would respect the fight more. i was hoping that he woulda took out more peins just to have bragging rights but i belive we will see narutos growth in being able to defeat the peins.. i dunno just my thoughts..

I understand that you think it was pretty pointless for j-man to go back to reface the 5 peins when he already realized he faced them b4. but if u look at the text close enough even though he faced them b4 he still had NO CLUE on what the hell was goin on. he thought that each of them had the rinnegan and that it should be impossible. but right b4 his throat was slash he had a revelation.. his expression lit up and finally he FOUND the answer.. could he had got the information by staying in the barrier? thats something we will never know. also.. re read chapters 370 to the current. this is pretty much where the j-man and pein battle started... read it withought stopping and ill guarantee you would respect the fight more. i was hoping that he woulda took out more peins just to have bragging rights but i belive we will see narutos growth in being able to defeat the peins.. i dunno just my thoughts..

To me, all he needed was time to think. What could he had realized by looking at them for a split second before getting dogpiled that he couldn't had realized on his way back to Konoha? And I don't think Naruto defeating Pein will really be "growth" since Naruto's primary strength is Pein's primary weakness... numbers.
Also, Jiraiya's throat wasn't slashed, it was crushed. A common misconception.
